I married a 100% Dominican woman from the island that lived in Washington Heights after she left DR. This place has great food. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Some left a bad review because they said they ordered a quesadilla and fries that were OK. If you come to a Dominican restaurant and order a quesadilla and fries I'm sorry you are an idiot and know nothing about the culture or what to eat. So the ambiance. Is it a 5 star restaurant? No. Stop complaining about what they have to wipe your hands in the bathroom. If you are looking for a fine dining experience then go to Midtown. It's small, the music is LOUD at night and it gets crowded. If you don't like that vibe then go somewhere else. I've been to eat during the day when it's pretty empty and at night when it's packed. Service has always been good with longer waits if you go when there is a concert or an event at night. The food....very good. The only Dominican food I've had that is better has been food my wife cooked, my mother in law cooked or food in the Heights in New York. Definitely the most authentic Dominican spot here in Atlanta. The picadera is SO GOOD. Their beans taste just as good as what I get at home. My wife loves the Mondongo which is hard to make. Rabo is good so are the bistecs, the chuletas and the chicken I've eaten. I haven't tried the Mangu but my wife says it's good and she makes it AMAZING. I've said this before on reviews and will say it again. You have people expecting to get food like DR. Sorry people but we aren't in DR. We aren't in Washington Heights. I'd love to have it that good here but it's not going to happen. It's still doesn't make it bad. The food here is consistently good and I go often with my wife. Get the Picadera Dominicana. Best thing there.

I randomly stumbled across this place and thought it was worth given it a shot…read more It's a very small two table 4 chair almost to go only spot. I arrived right at opening so of course I was able to get a seat at a table. The cashier was extremely friendly, very nice, and offered to help or get me anything that I needed to accommodate me during my meal. Because I arrived early, I had to wait about 15 to 20 minutes to get my food. I ordered the fried pork belly with sweet plantain and a side of the roasted chicken. The roasted chicken was absolutely delicious! It was extremely hot, very tender, very juicy with a ton of flavor. I'd actually go by just to get a side of chicken to eat in the car. Lol. The sweet plantain were pretty much what you would expect, but they were sweet, well cooked, and delicious. No faults on the sweet plantain. Then it comes to the fried pork belly. While I think it has a ton of potential, unfortunately, it was fried extremely extremely hard to the point we're not only was the meat dry, but it was fried so hard even the fat part I had cooked so much that it became dry. It was too a point where I had to try and soak the pieces of fried pork belly and the pan of chicken juice just to try and moisten it up or get a little bit of wetness on it to make it a little easier to eat. While I would go back, I would definitely ask for them to go much easier on the fry on the pork belly Two out of three is not bad and again the staff was extremely friendly and the chicken and plantain were delicious. So I would for sure go back and give them another try and see if maybe it was just an off day.

Even if you buy it to go, once you get to your home, the deliciousness will still be there. This is a must place to try.

Gave this restaurant a one time try with my son and NEVER AGAIN!!! First issue....Dominican…read morerestaurant but most of the food is Puerto Rican. How do I know, was married to a PR for years. Nothing wrong with a Dominican place cooking PR food but just make sure that its executed well. My son ordered baccalaito and was shocked by the presentation....it was inside a red sauce. Well this dish is normally made with fried cod fish fritters. I ordered alcapurria....0 flavor in the beef, had a weired rectangle shape and it was darkly burned. Which let us know that this restaurant owner doesnt care about the food quality. Thank god that I only ordered the alcapurria and not a full plate. Wont be returning!

Place used to be 5 for me but after what was just experienced, I'll never do business with this…read moreplace again. My daughter asked for 3-4 different items that is listed on their menu. Which were all denied out of being told they weren't offering any of those (sandwiches, salads) due to being too busy. Then were blindly charging an amount that does not match their online pricing. Even if they are not affiliated with DoorDash anymore for example, they should make sure it is completely removed and have an updated menu created if needed. If their prices have went up, it is at a restaurant rate when they are not a restaurant. When called out on this, the pricing was matched closer to what I manually tallied. I heard ownership has changed, making me question if that's why this experience took place vs very different experiences in the past. At that point, I used to constantly order lunch from here and do large catering orders for house parties of 50-80+ people. This created such a terrible taste, it will be the last time I order with them. I hope to see they do better and don't permanently ruin what was once so great. The food used to remind me of NY Bodega food. Now, no where near the same taste or quality. I'm so disappointed and upset I spent $$ on this.
