We had fries and cheese sticks. The food was ok. We came in early for a mid day game. There was only one employee and the Mgr. We had an hour of bowling and did the virtual reality game. It was nice because it was pretty empty but no drinks because the kiddo who was working was not old enough to serve. The music was good too. Kind of old school 90s pop. Horrible customer service. We went in at 7:30, they told us it was league night & that it will be over at 8:30. So we came back at 8:35 & they told us there was an hour wait & that they open the waitlist up at 8. WHERE WAS THAT INFORMATION WHEN I WAS THERE AT 7:30?! This Bowling place is a lot better than bowling places near where I live. I wish they had these everywhere. All the staff were really nice to my family and I. I enjoyed bowling with the neon, and my kids enjoyed all the arcade games they had. It was not hard to win in the arcade's claw machines either, so that was nice that it was fair. We went there on Monday afternoon. To be honest, we were aing for Bistro on ground level, but it was closed. It turns out we had fun watching people bowl and talking to some of them. We learned Mondays and Thursdays you can join a team. We were hungry, so we bought a hamburger and a flatbread pepperoni pizza. We weren't expecting gourmet food, so they were reasonably good for the location. We also went into the Allie Oops bar and bought some Corona and Stella Artois and tried an IPA on tap. We went here for the first time today and had a blast! It's a cute little bowling alley in good shape and clean. They have arcade games too plus food. Didn't eat but looked decent. The staff was kind and very helpful. I will definitely be looking forward to coming here again around Christmas time. The vibes here are totally awesome 80's/90's music. Love it! Also after reading other reviews it seems like anytime people get upset they cry that someone is racist. We are not white and went here and were treated really good so idk. I can't tell you what the lanes, balls or shoes are like, but I can tell you this: The service sucks! I'm driving through Big Bear on my annual beginning-of-Christmas Break trip through the mountains and decide that bowling and a beer or two will put me in the vacation mood, so I go in and make my way to the counter to rent some shoes and pay for a game or two. No one is at the counter. I wait a bit and see two workers headed my way. Cool! Time to bowl! Just as they got to the counter, one turned to go into the snack bar and the other walked right past me. I watch her disappear down and around a corner. I turn to find Snack Bar Guy at the service counter looking right at me. I'm thinking he might say something, like "Hey, someone will be with in a second" or "How's it going? Where you from?" Nope. Nothing. About this time, Lost Girl's coming back and walks right past me again. WTF! Snack Bar Guy is watching all of this. Silently, of course. Lost Girl disappears down the far lane and behind the pins. Snack Bar Guy watches Lost Girl disappear, but says nothing. So I leave and now I'm sitting in my car shredding The Bowling Barn, which is surprisingly a lot of fun. Maybe not as much fun as beer and bowling, but there's a good bar I know down the street. I will miss the bowling though, buy screw those guys. Fun place to check out! Bowling alley is smaller than you'd think but the staff is friendly and it's very clean. We waiting less than 5 minutes before getting our lane on a Saturday evening! Hubby and I are anticipating a large invasion of tourists tomorrow (Friday), since the snow was legendary over the last 3 weeks, and the roads up here are finally open again for non-residents. Needless to say, we will be staying home for the meantime, but we thought we might go have a little Thursday afternoon fun before hibernating until the tourists go home. We were the only customers at the Bowling Barn. Honestly, I think it's been a good 8-9 years since we've been bowling. I don't know why. It was fun. I'm not good at bowling, I just rely on lucky strikes! Good thing too, I had a few! Though I'm no expert, I truly rocked those kicks! They have really re-done the Barn. It's very pretty now and all freshened up! Onion Rings are still the bomb, so was the root beer. I love the aesthetics, it's super cute and colorful. I called at 858 pm and asked them if there was a wait. The rep said it was an hour to an hour and half wait. I called back and said, hey you close at 10, how can there be an hour to an hour and a half wait if you close in an hour. He responded, oh well at 9, we don't take anymore reservations. We were staying at a lodge just across the street. The party that was with us in the room next to us said they wanted to bowl, so we told them to save their walk, but they went anyway. Cool bowling alley in town (the only one too I think). Typical arcade, pool table, and bar set up (which opens after 5pm). Games run $28 an hour (there is a military discount though if you ask) and prices for shoes are separate. The alley itself is functional and clean. Surprisingly, this is the probably nicest bowling alley we've been to (including LA). Very up to date/state of the art and clean overall. Unfortunately, the customer service is really poor. The older man that I assume owns it, is completely unfriendly. Like COMPLETELY. Why was I the one saying 'thank you, etc etc' as if he was doing me a favor to allow me to pay $70 for 4 of us to bowl for one hour. Can't really complain because it's the only bowling alley in BBL so don't want to get banned. LOL but just be warned that it's pricey, they'll make you feel like they're doing you a favor to allow you to pay them to bowl there ... but you'll have a good time overall. read more

My friends and I came to this bowling barn during a holiday weekend so it was crowded. One of the ladies working the entrance booth was rude and petty to say the least. The toy machines are outdated and the entire establishment smells. The wait for bowling was 2 hours, totally not worth it. There's better forms of entertainment in Big Bear. We asked to please move to a lane that had empty booths (there were about 5 booths open) and the employee requested a "tip" which was more a bribe. Went tonight to bowl with the family. The first guy told me 3 1/2 hour wait so I had him put my name down. After two hours I checked back and another guy told me they already called my name 1/2 hour ago and that I wasn't supposed to leave the building. Well no one told me that when I originally put my name down or I would have never left. So the guy (whose name is Luke) told me he would put my name back on the list and it would be another 45mins to an hour so I said okay and waited....and waited. So my daughter goes to check the status and "Luke" tells my daughter they already called us two hours ago yet he never looked at the computer he only gave my daughter an attitude. So I went to the counter and told him "you're the one who put my name down!" He said oh "my bad, ya you're on the list and still 25 groups out!" He proceeded to give my daughter attitude when all she did was ask where we were on list and he never even looked up my name until I went over there. So needless to say we left and will not return because I understand they are busy but there was no reason for an employee to get attitude when all we did was ask him to do his job. Would give 0 stars if I could for customer service!!! So I hope this review gets back to Luke and someone tells him he shouldn't be working in a busy place if he can't handle it and treats customers poorly and with an attitude. SMH read more

What a fun place!! We were visiting for MLK weekend. Stopped In Monday night after dinner. Had a small wait due to local bowling league. Put our name on wait list. Ordered drinks, bartender was so cool. Wish I remembered his name played a couple games of pool then our lane was ready. The lanes are very well maintained.
