It was a very long wait at all of the other restaurants in the village that we wanted to go to, and then came across the Bone Yard which was empty. The wait staff is very nice, kind and attentive. The food is ehh.. Very greasy and heavy flavors. If you are into heavy barbecue sauce fried, oily/greasy this place is for you... Chili was good but overly spicy Kids mac & cheese was cooked way too much as mushy. We sent the corn dip back. It just felt like dunking your chip in a bowl of grease. The drinks, however, were delicious! Recommend the cosmos. read more

We came here for dinner with a group of nine people and were seated right away! I got the half chicken which was surprisingly so tasty-it was the perfect amount of crispiness yet still juicy on the inside. We also shared the raspberry cheesecake which I liked, but probably wouldn't order again. Everyone else got the burgers which I think they liked and the chili was also a hit here too. President's Day! I spent all day skiing at Snow Summit, and came in here around 5pm, absolutely starving. Place was 75% empty, as it was early, so the friendly hostess had my solo self seated quickly. Ambiance was gastropub, wood cabin, with fun eccentric animal art all around...and clean! I planned on splurging and placed a order for smoked ribs, brisket, and rotisserie chicken and more. 5 minutes later the smiling waitress informed me they were out of ribs and brisket, so I opted for just pulled pork and rotisserie chicken. 5 minutes more later, I was informed that the rotisserie chicken was out too...must have been a busy weekend! So instead, the restaurant gave me a FREE meal of BBQ chicken breasts and pulled pork, and sides of Mac N Cheese and Sweet Potato fries. There was A LOT of meat, I could only finish half! Everything was pretty good! I just paid for my $7 Bud Light and $3.50 Green beans side. I left a pretty good tip :) 5 Star experience, but for full price this is more of a 4 Star place, which I'd come back. read more

We came here for lunch after a 7 mile hike and were starving. We ordered the burger with sweet potato fries and spicy bbq wings. The service was great and Jeffrey made sure to get us all the sauces to try. The food was so good, burger melted in your mouth and came with brisket and bacon. They make their bbq sauce in house, and the spicy bbq wings were HUGE. $17 for 8 giant wings was a great deal in our opinion. We ordered the chicken, brisket and pork, all of them were pretty good. Our bartender was super helpful when she came back and told us that the only two beers that we ordered they did not have, but came up with a fun cocktail. Definitely enjoyed their barbecue sauce. When our food first came out, it was cold. The honey they served us was completely expired with a horrible taste and then, of course they were out of a couple beers that we asked for so that was a downfall. But after those got corrected. It was so much more pleasant experience. This place is definitely a cool vibe to watch the games and have lunch. read more

It's been a few years since I last visited BYB&G. The menu has changed and they've renamed some entrees. All in all, it was a decent experience. The food was okay, but they run out of popular items. I wanted the brisket but it was done by our 6pm seating. Granted, it was Sunday and they probably didn't plan for a late rush. I did have the greens but it was a small portion. I should've gotten the garlic mashed potatoes. The ribs were okay, and the fat pig burger was okay. Fries were decent and the drinks were standard (no alcohol ordered). You can expect to spend about $30 a person. Since I've not tried other BBQ in Big Bear, I'm not sure where this stands. However it was a decent meal. No big issues. read more

So tasty Garlic mash potatoes: 8/10 also delicious! Buttery and good garlicky flavor Pulled pork sandwich: 7/10 the pulled pork was a little dry, not enough bbq sauce. Definitely ask for bbq sauce on the side. I added more to mine and turned out to be much better with that Kids Mac & cheese: 7/10 my husband and I loved it, but not so much my toddler. They sprinkled some cayenne pepper on it which made it a bit too spicy for a toddlers palette Fries: 7/10 these were thick wedges which were tasty. I don't usually like wedge cut fries but here it was crispy on the outside and soft inside. Also had cayenne sprinkled on top which we liked except my toddler lol. Suggestion for the restaurant: please have an option to make the kids meal not spicy Service: 10/10 our service was a kind guy who check in on us regularly and provided us with anything we needed! Been to this restaurant a handful of times over the years and have not been let down ever. I have to give a shout out the bar crew special attention to Savannah who made a great SpicedPear Old Fashioned. If you'd had an old fashioned you know they had a citrus hint. The spiced pear hint comes through perfectly on this old fashioned. Not over bearing and not overly sweet. Just what you would want. Great job Bone Yard!!!! read more

We came on New year day! very busy in big bear there was 3 hr wait times in other restaurants. We came here and we got seated right away. They accompanied us party of 7 plus stroller!! I believe they were short staffed but we were advised of this. The reviews on Yelp were very mixed, to be honest I was terrified when I was sitting there. BUT, good experience !!!! Brisket was good! Found this spot when looking for a restaurant in the downtown Big Bear Lake. We were seated right away, and the service was fast on a busy Saturday afternoon. As a group of 6 with a toddler in a stroller, we were able to be accommodated with two tables pushed together. They also have tons of booths for smaller parties. I ordered just the Bang bang Shrimp, and I absolutely loved it. This dish had a bowl of big battered and fried shrimp, with a rice noodle salad, slathered with a semi-spicy sauce. I don't tolerate spice very well, and did feel a bit of burn on my lips and tongue, but I would absolutely order it again. If you want a small plate without ordering an entree, the Bang Bang shrimp order will definitely satisfy. Our group tried the Chicken Alfredo, the Rotisserie chicken, the Philly Cheesesteak, and the buffalo and garlic parm chicken wings. Everyone had a positive review of their meals! The fried pickles we didn't like but the fries were good. The Cobb salad was delicious but the wings not so delicious. Service slow and our server was weird. They ran out of the items we ordered and didn't tell us just brought out different items as replacements when we ate less than half of all our food. We complained to our server during service that we were disappointed and at the end of the meal we asked that we did not enjoy the meal and would like some kind of compensation on the bill this took a long time for the server to speak to the manager to get to do a partial discount one item. Really disappointing and had to go to a second restaurant after to have dinner as everyone was still hungry. Topper this is probably the server themselves that just messaged me on yelp about my review super unprofessional! Take accountability for your poor service! We should've known something was off the moment we walked in and realized we were the only customers. Unfortunately, that was just the beginning. The food tasted like it had been reheated from days ago. The brisket sandwich was hands down the driest, toughest, most stringy brisket I've ever had--barely edible. The chicken sandwich was just as bad, and the rotisserie chicken was so dry it was hard to swallow. We also ordered the corn elote dip with chips, but had to call the waiter back because the chips were completely stale. They looked like the crumbs from the bottom of a bag, not something you'd expect to be served at a restaurant. Overall, really disappointing experience from start to finish. The pork (more chopped than pulled - theres a hint), chicken and salmon were vastly overcooked and dried out. Chicken skin was black and burned, salmon and pork were white in color. IFYKY Brisket was mostly point meat and it was actually very undercooked that not even super thin slicing could save. Nor was the fat rendered. I get a kick out of other reviews boasting that while other places in the Village were packed, you could get right into the Bone Yard. That's not the flex you think it is. I had the pleasure of speaking to and being served by Iggy, Leah, and Jillian. All three were welcoming and kind, having conversations with myself and my friends. The brisket was tender, juicy, and packed with real smoky flavor, not dry or overdone at all. Perfectly balanced meat-to-bread ratio and zero need to drown it in sauce (though the sauce was solid too). The garlic mashed potatoes were next level -- creamy, flavorful, and clearly made in-house. Not bland, not watery, just straight comfort food done right. You can tell they care about quality and execution. Simple menu, executed perfectly, which is exactly what you want from a BBQ spot. The place was pretty much empty and our actual waitress was really nice, but like 3 other people came by to help (they were not helpful and contributed to the chaos in the picture.) The menu didnt have a lot of options and like 3 things were already not available. My sandwich was good tho not spicy (hot honey chicken) but you could tell the chicken had been sitting a while, some bites were reeeaallly dry and chewy... the mac and cheese was pathetic and not seasoned. The actual waitress didnt bring silverware, so i couldnt readily eat the mac n cheese. I eventually got multiple forks... The fries also didnt have salt. We asked for salt and had to remind our onslaught of servers a few times I ordered ranch for my hot honey chicken and that didnt come out so i also had to ask for that and the extra waitress seemed almost annoyed and eventually got to it. My friend had ordered hot tea and asked for a refill of hot water and it was wild we ended up with a kettle with maybe one glass's worth of water but not the cup lol We also asked for ketchup and all of the extra ones brought ketchup so that was fun its a homey lil place tho read more
