Came in to the Stonecrest location on 5/13/25 around 3pm for the $25 Tuesday deal..2 cornrows. I made sure to wash and blow dry before coming. Soon as I sat on the chair, the stylist said "Yeah it needs a blowout". Completely understandable because although my hair was dry, some parts weren't straight enough. She blowdries my hair for LESS than 60 seconds..not even a whole minute. Then she braids my hair. When she's finished, she said I'll be charged $50. Extra $20 for the blowout. Like I might as well came with my hair soaking wet if I'm paying a whole $20. In retrospect I should've spoke to her or a manager about that pricing. My hair wasn't wet, damp, or outrageously tangled. Anyways I didn't fight it or anything I just paid her so I could just leave. She probably needed it WAYYY more than I did. Understand it's the principle of the matter. Also, she barely dipped my braids which i ended up doing at home. Only the very tips were dipped. Didn't do my edges. Didn't apply the mousse either btw! Huge disappointment and to end it all, the braids were extremely thin. The $5 charge for a pack for hair shouldn't be a thing if I'm only getting 2 braids and you're not even using close to half of the pack. She didn't even spin the chair around to for the mirror to show her work. This shows that she was probably insecure about her work and all about the money. Unacceptable. (Side note: The vibe was off; a different stylist got an attitude with her client because she wanted natural looking braids. The stylist ended up asking another stylist to do her hair.) Super unprofessional. The energy here overall is simply not pleasing. Stylists should show enthusiasm and go above and beyond for their clients. I am disappointed as this use to be my favorite place to get my braids done. I walked out with no edges, thin braids, stiff ends and paying the price for 2 clients with the "$25 deal". Oh and GEL RESIDUE! Needs improvement asap.

    Lopsided. Uneven. Crooked part

This is the third location I have tried and every encounter I say is my last. The level of quality is just NOT there. The people are nice, the service is prompt but this feels like a beauty school and we paying clients are the test dummies. I come often to get what I feel is an easy style. 2 braids! No designs, not stitch, not rhinestones and frills. Just two damn braids and every time I leave looking like a lopsided lunatic. I don't understand it. It's a waste of my time to sit and get it fixed and the way my tenderheadededness is set up, two rounds of something that should have been done right the first time is not ideal. I hate to waste my money and every single encounter with the Braid Bar has been just that. A waste of time. A waste of money. I hate to say it because there is potential but Avoid all locations at all costs.

I came in for crochet braids that I needed for a casting. My hair stylist's name was pickle. The hair that I bought was freetress deep twist which I don't think she had much experience with. I say this because the installation turned out to be a mess. My part came out looking like an old terrible wig that had hair falling out. I can also still see most of the spaces and braids on the top of my head. She used all 5 packs of the hair I bought so I can't see why it looks like there isn't enough strands to lay over the other braids. I came back the next day to cut and layer the hair so it looked decent, but I won't be back. I paid $85 for a bad wig and wasted 30 dollars in hair.

One hour before the appointment. Then we get to the kids salon and they tell us they have no openings until 5 days later.

Ghetto and unprofessional. Canceled the appointment for my daughter an hour before she was scheduled. Then we get to the kids salon and they tell us they have no openings until 5 days later. These stylists need to learn better time management skills, and stop trying to double book clients. Why mess up your own coins, boo?

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. Please do yourself a favor and RUN far in the opposite direction of this place. I came across their Instagram profile and figured I'd give them a try. Usually, I never get braids but I'm leaving the country for a month and don't want to worry about doing my hair everyday, so I gave them a call. QUONNA (the braider) answered. Her phone etiquette, or LACK thereof, should have been my first red flag but I still gave it a shot. I didn't have a specific stylist in mind so I went ahead and made my appointment with her. I called on Monday and made my appointment for the following Wednesday at 7:00am. Leading up to my appt, I contacted Quonna a few times via text (pictures attached). Now, I'm not one to judge a person's intellectual ability based on a text BUT I could immediately tell that spelling and grammar weren't her strong suits. Anyway, I still went forward with my appointment. I was leaving the country in less than 4 days so I needed it done. On the day of my 7am appointment, I received a text from Quonna at 6:09am. She TELLS me to come at 9am -- she didn't ASK if that time worked nor did she apologize for the inconvenience, she just made her demand. Although I was already showered, dressed, and ready to leave, I empathized with her because she said her baby was sick and she had to take him to the hospital. HOWEVER, after reading the reviews here, it seems that's a common excuse amongst the Braid Bar workers . I've read that same excuse in at least 10 other reviews which I think is absolutely despicable. I mean, what type of mother lies on her child's health??? I arrived at the shop by 8:50am. The outside of the place is a DUMP and inside was even worse. There was hair all over the floor as if they hadn't swept in days. Hair on the stations, the chairs, everywhere! The furniture was old and decrepit. The combs looked filthy with old hair in them - never cleaned. And a strong marijuana smell lingered in the air. I was greeted - if you can call it that -- by a girl who was sitting on top of her station. She told me QUONNA hadn't arrived and told me to have a seat. As I was waiting, another braider walked in-- also late for her appointment as the client was waiting along with me. The braider was wearing socks and flip-flops as if she had just rolled out of bed. She grabbed the client's hair packs and just started braiding. No hand washing. No apologies for being late. No consultation. No professionalism at all. Her hoodie was tied tight on her head to hold her phone in her ear. Despite having clients in the shop, she just kept talking to whoever was on the other end of the phone. By this time, QUONNA had text me and said she was "right up the block" and was late because of the rain. However, it had rained all night and I still made it there from 30minutes away. I gave her until 9:25am and then I happily got up, grabbed my hair and walked out -- never to be seen in that establishment ever again. By the way, I found another stylist -- a REAL one -- who has been extremely professional throughout the whole process. My hair looks amazing and I tipped her almost 50% of my cost. For me, professionalism and presentation go a long way. As a minority business owner myself, I was utterly disappointed by seeing my sisters carry themselves and their business so slovenly. Don't waste your money here. Go with women who actually have pride in themselves.

Not sure what too say, but I had a very positive experience...um maybe because I made an appt on a busy Saturday before going, not sure. My stylist was TT (tahirah...probably spelled wrong). She was pleasant, fast, and did exactly what I asked for. I am very pleased with my hair. Yes there is music playing that may not suit everyone, but I was so busy talking to her and on my phone that it wasn't an issue with me at all. Appt was at 9, she texted at 8 to say she was running late. I said no issue and she arrived at the agreed upon time that she said she would be there and started on my hair promptly. I've gotten so many compliments on my hair and will definitely go back to her again. I guess the main thing to understand is, if you go on a Saturday without an appt, expect a wait. Its braids and it's the weekend...it takes 1+ hrs to do styles.

No I did not have the wrong place .....please see my confirmation. Please do not act if I am crazy. The experience was horrible,as I stated to your manager who reach out to me on Instagram, I was very upset. I should have read the reviews about your establishment. Know one should have to experience this type of treatment. So please do not be dismissive and state that I was not at The Braid Bar on 1216 Columbia Dr. Pooh Bear was the braider. I was also told that I would receive my booking fee via cash app.

The braids I had done 4 days ago. But I took this picture day 3 upon waking up. I tied my hair down and put a bonnet

This place needs to be shut down. I ended up paying $180 for these big/small straight back braids. Just for a recap I paid that price because the stylist who did my hair stole the first $100 I brung with me. The entire time she complained about being broke. It's the brown skin girl second chair to the left when you walk in. She is from Chicago. She stole my money and demanded I pay her again at the end. The manager said she will not check the camera because it's not her responsibility. It's been 4 days since I posted my review on google(the day I got my hair done) so now I will show you how my $180 braids look. If I could leave 0 stars I would.

In this neighborhood, $24 for a men's cut (which includes a shampoo) is very reasonable. I have gotten cuts from multiple stylists here including Ayeshah (the owner, I believe) and Neka, and they all do a great job. This place's location in the Midtown Promenade shopping center makes parking a cinch. Finally, I rarely have issues getting an appointment when I need one even when booking last minute. Importantly, the staff here take the appropriate precautions for Covid-19. Haircuts are appointment only and patrons must have their temperature checked before sitting in the stylist's chair. All staff wore masks and/or face shields during the two cuts I've gotten here since the pandemic started, and I was even requested to wash my hands prior to my most recent appointment.
