My family and I came to eat here yesterday evening. Some of the food was good but unfortunately the service did not meet our expectations. The server who waited on our table was not very friendly, and the service overall felt slow and unwelcoming. What bothered me the most was witnessing our server speaking to another server, who I believe was new in a way that came across as rude and unprofessional. It was uncomfortable to watch, especially since the other server remained professional and continued working assisting customers to their tables and cleaning tables after customers left. I'm sharing this review and I hope management is aware of what customers are seeing. It was disappointing to witness an employee being treated that way in front of guests. A respectful and professional work environment not only supports employees but also creates a better experience for customers. I hope this is something management will address. read more

First time at this local bar and it was so cute. The bartender/server was so nice and kind and friendly. You can see her dealing with people who have had a little too much to drink and she is just charming and friendly and kind. The food was good. At first we got fries that weren't garlic fries so she willingly took them back and brought us a nice hot batch of garlic fries,. We ordered takeout so I can't say anything about service or ambiance. I ordered brisket tacos and just to be safe the caprese pizza in case the tacos were awful. I am happy to report that both of the items were EXCELLENT!!! It tastes like they make their own pizza dough! The toppings are exquisitely balanced! Husband, kid and I all loved the pizza. The brisket tacos... I'll go inside the restaurant just to get those! I omitted the pickled onions and kept everything else. The brisket was tender, smoky, not dry, not greasy... and delicious! The sauce was a great addition to the flavor. I do wish the jalapeños were grilled and not raw but it worked. My only complaint is the chips were very stale and I dislike the food coloring in chips. Just use dye free please. There's nothing worse than paying for bad food but this was SO GOOD! My husband and son enjoyed their burgers. Definitely a winner for Hollister! read more

Took my parents out tonight and we walked into Brass Tap. The bartender told us to sit anywhere. We sat down and saw one menu on the table. No server came to help us, but we did see her serve a table next to us and then go back and chat with the other staff members. Really disappointed. We literally saw other tables with nobody attending to them. After several minutes of looking around for someone and only seeing them at the back talking to each other, we got up and left. My husband has been there before and said the service was abysmal. We will NOT be back. Drove over to Seabrisas by the airport and had a WONDERFUL dinner with an attentive server! I will start by saying I loved the aesthetic of this place. Not a kind of place you see in Hollister, felt like I was in downtown Austin. It was a nice change. The service is the reason my experience was only 3 stars. We were seated right away . We sat there for a while with one menu only. The server finally came and took our drink and appetizer order. We had the jalapeño and cheese pretzel. It came out right away and was piping hot and delicious. At this point, still no drinks. Server finally came back and went and got our drinks and took our food order. My husband got the fried shrimp basket and I had the Asian BBQ chicken sandwich. The shrimp basket came out pretty quickly, I waited another 15-20 minutes with our server not stopping by once. Finally I was able to flag her down and let her know my food had not come. Meanwhile my husbands food was getting cold. She came back with my sandwich that had obviously been sitting there that whole time. The bottom bun was completely soggy and inedible. The fries were good, but extremely salty. The sandwich would have been very good had it not been sitting there for so long. The worst part is they have one guy standing there passing the food to the servers and I watched as my food sat there and was moved around the whole time. I will come back to try again, hopefully a different server, and better experience so I can increase my stars. read more

Came here for Happy Hour on a Thursday. The server was not knowledgeable about their "Drink of the Week" and what "select Pints" they had on the happy hour specials. We ordered their Pepperoni Pizza for $11 and the BoomBoom Shrimp for $11.50. The pizza was actually pretty good with some hot honey and ranch to dip into. The BoomBoom was not impressive at all. The amount of shrimp to the cost and how oily they were sucked! If I had to pay full price for them I probably would have sent them back! Mind you it was not busy in here because we got there at about 3:30, there were only 2 people at the bar and a table top of 3. When our food came out we got sticky dirty forks and i had to ask the waiter for new ones. Don't think I will be back.... ‍ Review Note: Seeing an owner reply like this is truly amazing. As someone who works in the service industry, I was honestly pretty shocked by our experience. My mom and I came in for what was supposed to be an early Mother's Day lunch, and from the moment we walked in, we felt completely ignored. There were only about five people sitting at the bar, no one on the floor, yet no one greeted us. I asked the bartender if it was okay for us to sit outside, and she said yes, then immediately turned back around and continued chatting with the people at the bar as if we weren't even there. We sat outside for about 10 minutes without anyone ever checking on us. I finally went back in to ask another server if we were still okay to sit outside, and she responded very rudely, like I was bothering her just by asking. After waiting even longer with no service, we decided to leave. I completely understand having a bad day or being overwhelmed but basic acknowledgment and kindness go a long way, especially in hospitality. It was really disappointing considering this was meant to be a special lunch with my mom. And it was our first time there. We will not be returning. Bummer. read more

My Mom and I visited The Brass Tap and tried something new for us (not the Wing Basket!). We each tried the Pub Style Burger and it was very good. The burger was freshly prepared with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion and came with crinkle fries. Our server, Riley, was very attentive, friendly, and she went out of her way to take good care of us. The Lakers Game was on almost every TV and the atmosphere was fun and casual. The outside dining/lounging area is beautiful and can accommodate larger parties. I feel compelled to share my recent experience in the hopes of inspiring a positive change. The security team at Brass Tap in Hollister fell short of providing respectful service, which was already disappointing given the establishment was at full capacity. I hope they will take this opportunity to reflect and improve their approach to customer service. Immediately upon approach, I was told, "You can't come in" by their security , "we're at capacity." I said, "Okay, can we just stand here and wait?" (NOTING- we were on PUBLIC property. He (whose photo is attached below told me "you're too fat to come in" oh!! okay? I didn't know that it was illegal to be fat and taking up space but according to said security, it was very "illegal" I am a very persistent person so I did not give up to him and his 'demands'. His only reasoning to not letting me and my friends in was literally MY weight. (not even my friends') I witnessed multiple people walk in AFTER me who were excused to be in there because according to him "they were already in there". I would hope and be sure the owners would never let something like this slide and continue to let him be employed there. I've loved Brass Tap and the vibe they brought to Hollister since opening but if they continue to employ people like this I'm going to continue to let my people and as many other people know NOT to give business to an establishment like this. I do NOT care for the scrutiny and hate I'm going to get for this post, but I do want everyone to know the reality of going to such an establishment if you are considered 'overweight'. read more

We came as a family of 3 on New Year's Eve!! All the servers and management were very nice. The manager/owner even came by to tell us to come back later for the DJ. We came to eat with our 1 year old and they had very high highchair that we used for our high top table. I honestly didn't feel like it was a great place for kids but also like I said it was New Year's Eve. The drinks were delicious and the food was very good! The food was good. The service was one of the worst I've ever experienced. One of the girls said, we can sit down and she would be back to clean the table, they were all dirty on the patio. We sat for about 15 minutes and Alex took our drink order but, forgot to come back with them. I went to the bar and had to ask for our drinks. She admitted she forgot them. Appetizer gets to the table with one napkin, no silverware. I asked for extra napkins, and silverware, never got them. I tore the single napkin in 3 for us. I figured I'd cut her a brake she was busy but, I continued to pop my head around the corner they were not overwhelmed. We eventually got our food order and my guest and husband asked for a refill which she sat the glass down on a table beside us and never brought them back. My husband asked for ketchup and napkins again never got them. He did flag down another waitress which did bring some ketchup after he was nearly done with his food. We had to get up to get togo boxes. I asked to speak to the manager and was going to be polite about it, they said, the owner would be by. Waited about 10 minutes, he never came by. I asked Alex to send him over 10 more minutes he never came by. Atmosphere was great, food was good, service was horrible. Sadly we won't be back. read more

4 stars for lots of beers but man are they pricy!! $10-11 per draft beer. That's more than I'm willing to pay. I'll drink at home. PS, no idea what prices are reasonable for draft beer as I usually get mixed drinks. Got cheese curds, they were good and we needed extra ranch which was kindly provided. The Brussels sprouts were gross, they seems like they were cooked in an air fryer, they were too salty and dry. We didn't finish them. The brisket tacos were outstanding!! Absolutely loved them!! I went to the Brass Tap in Holister on their opening night. The places as packed, so this was a good stress test of their staff. The restaurant is very nice, lists of tables inside a long bar with plenty of seats and some outdoor seating. The Brass Tap has a nice menu selection for a bar. Several sharable/ appetizers , sandwiches and burgers. We order several appetizers, cheese curds, Mac and cheese bites with pulled pork and deep fried pickles. All were very good. Large selection of beers on tap and more in"cans". I would like to see a few local beers but otherwise they have a good selection. They also have wine and cocktails. The food here was the star of the show. My chicken sandwich was absolutely legendary, and everything coming out of the kitchen looked just as delicious. When the location was announced I was skeptical. But they have done a very nice job. Once in the court yard it's kind of like its own unique place. Bar area is modern clean and with great chairs. Wide, well padded, with a smooth swivel. Had a spicy margarita, which was good. But I would try something else next time. For lunch it was the brisket tacos (comes with chips and salsa) and a Cesar side salad. Tacos were very well executed. The brisket was Smokey and flavorful, and the cheese, fresh jalapeño, with pickled onion as toppings really worked well together her. The Cesar was well sized for a side salad, and fresh. I would have liked just a tiny bit more dressing but other wise it was solid. My only complaint was that it was cold inside when I arrived but when they opened the big door. I was instantly glad I had a coat with me. But overall for visiting a brand new restaurant on opening day at its opening time I was impressed and will be coming back again. read more

We've frequented several times and each time, there's an issue, with either slow service, lack of attention with the wait staff and this time, the beer menu. My son tried to order a beer and each one he asked for, was, "sorry, we don't have that one!" Struck out three times. Finally he asked what do you have? The beer menu had not been updated since May; clearly they need to either update or cross out the ones they don't offer. The food is, "meh"; pub food. We ordered a chicken sandwich, burger and a shrimp Caesar salad, and mac cheese bites. First two items were okay, the salad, not so, the grilled, sautéed shrimp were so salty, I couldn't eat them. The lettuce chunks were huge and I was not given a knife and couldn't get one as our waitress was the only one on the floor and it's lunch so she's spread thin. So when she finally showed up to the table to present the bill I just asked for a to go box; deal with it at home. Mac and cheese bites are as expected. And one other gripe, I hate not being presented an actual bill, just a wait person standing there waiting for a card to swipe and then their tip! I like to look the bill over beforehand but this seems to be the new norm. I had to ask for a printout to view the charges after the fact. Not sure if I'll return, sad to say. read more

Unfortunately, the experience started off on the wrong foot-we weren't greeted upon arrival and stood awkwardly near the entrance unsure of whether to seat ourselves. Eventually, someone shouted from across the restaurant that we could sit wherever we wanted, which didn't feel very welcoming. The menu mentioned asking a server about happy hour time frame, but no one came to our table for about 10 minutes. When our server did finally arrive, he was passive-aggressive and unprofessional-leaning on the table, visibly annoyed at our questions, and at one point wiping his nose. Asking about the happy hour details (as the menu instructed) seemed to irritate him further. We ordered burgers and salads, but didn't receive any silverware or napkins with them. It took us 7 minutes of trying to flag him down just to get utensils. Meanwhile, he seemed much more interested in chatting with the hostess than checking on us. One burger came missing its sauce (which we later received in a small cup after asking), and the brussels sprouts, advertised as crispy, were soggy and bland. Beers were served room temperature. The space itself is beautiful-modern and inviting-which makes the disappointing service even more frustrating. This place could be great, but the service really missed the mark.
