Yesterday we had a Celebration of Life for my brother. Since his funeral was in Hollister, We tried to find somewhere that would accommodate about 100 people and nobody returned our calls. So I looked up the 10 best in Hollister and Harvest Time Roadhouse popped up. We showed up in various groups - almost hitting 100 people. They did not hesitate to accommodate our very large group. There is a separate large room to the left and an outdoor area which worked out incredibly well for us and our family. The entire staff was on point and did not miss a beat, got every single food and drink order and were so kind and empathetic to our entire group of family and friends. The staff was so amazing - especially Candace. That girl is top notch and took the best care of ALL of us. I didn't catch the other server helping Candace or the other bar tenders but they were ALL great! The food was good. Drinks were good w/ lots of great draft beers on tap AND have N/A beers (super important these days) and so so reasonably priced for all the great service and amount of food and drinks we got. Ps I'm vegan and they even have vegan options! Huge shout out and the sincerest thanks to Candace m, the entire staff, cooks and the owner. Can't say enough of how well they took great care of all of us! So grateful. It took lots off our family to end a hard day there. read more

Stopped here after the San Juan Batista Street Festival. (You don't want to miss this next year!!) Definitely worth stopping by. Good thing we live in Hollister so that we can frequent this place again. Husband and I shared the Cowboy Burger: 1/2 Angus beef with onion ring, BBQ sauce, we switched out the Jack cheese for swiss.... and we opted for a salad instead of fries. W I had a Michelada (this was ok) and a pink lemonade buzz ball. Husband had the Blind Pig. Everything was great. It was a hot day, but our servers were attentive even with the menu delay. Haven't been here since it changed from previous occupants (a few years ago). We discovered it is basically the same as before, just with a name change! Great menu, decent tap beer selection, and quality service. The do need more dark beers on tap though! All of our meals were great, especially the calamari appetizer, and our server was outstanding. Adam and his entire staff are just wonderful! We've never had a bad meal and they are so accommodating when we are having a gathering of some sort!. It really feels like home whenever we dine there. Loved this place! Truly a "roadhouse " feel as it literally is off the beaten path . Service was amazing ---friendly staff who quickly accommodated a party of 11! And accommodated separate checks (small groups of us on one check ) . I had the broccoli and cheese potato and it was delicious! Hard and crispy outside with buttery goodness within. Huge---so beware. Everything was really awesome . Want to try their tater tots next time ---they looked amazing. Highly recommend. We got the New York steak and Rancher Ribeye steak meals. We were pleasantly surprised with everything the meal came with. A clam chowder starter (delicious!), a huge loaded baked potato, veggie sides that weren't mushy & garlic bread where you can taste the garlic. Elsewhere, we'd have to order those separately. The best part of our meal was our server, Maddie. She was super attentive and friendly. The place was packed and we snagged the last table before others had to wait. We figured Maddie would drop our food off and we'd never see her again, being the mad house it was. But she checked back with us at least 5 times - filled my drink without me asking. It's easy to miss the Roadhouse. It's set back from the road, and there are no signs on the highway. It's the kind of place that all the locals know about. I probably would never have stopped if I hadn't gone there with friends. The place has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Inside is neat, clean, and inviting, with lots of old pictures on the walls, and ads for local businesses laminated into the table tops. The service was very friendly. It took a while to get our food, but they were busy and the wait wasn't overly long - I was just at the point of wondering where I food was when it arrived. The menu is huge. They've got something for everybody. A wide range of soups, salads and sandwiches, hamburgers, fish and chips, steaks, pasta, and seafood. There were five people in our group; we all ordered different things, and everybody was very satisfied. I had a patty melt. It's one of those basic cooking competence things - you either get it right, or you don't. Mine was spot-on. One of my friends ordered shrimp and fries, which he said were perfect, and another had the clam chowder, which she says is one of her favorites. They also have quite a few beers on tap. Portions were generous, and prices were reasonable. I feel like I've been giving a lot of high ratings lately, but people have been recommending a lot of great places. Had the Asian salad with crispy chicken. It was the best chicken I've ever had!!!! My husband had the rib eye steak. The steak was seasoned perfectly and was so tender. Hollister is a working class town and you don't have a ton of options for dinner. This is a little gem. Food is solid, nothing special but good portions and the service was terrific. We got there at 7:30 and they close at 8:00 and people just kept pouring in and somehow the accommodated them all. Stopped here after hiking at Pinnacles all day. I chose this based on the positive reviews and when first pulling up, I wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't realize it was a bit out of the main part of town but it was worth the drive over. Once inside, it looked nicer than expected and we were greeted warmly and got to choose where to sit. It wasn't quite 5, and at first there was only one other table seated, but, after 5:30, more folks came in. I got the caprese with sweet potato fries. Nicely toasted and the balsamic glaze and pesto were a nice touch. It was a $4 upgrade for sweet potato fries, which was a bit steep but it's what I felt like having. Love this place that's off the beaten path. Perfect place to stop for a hearty weekend lunch with the bestie. Seems like a fun spot to catch a game. I had a cider and a BLT and it delicious. I also got an order of the posole to go...it did not disappoint. The restaurant is clean and well maintained, the staff is happy, friendly, and everyone was in a great mood. Well except for one obnoxious group of people who ordered food, then changed their mind after they took several bites (so rude). Came from checking venue in Hollister and ended up during lunch time so we were all hungry. Went to yelp to see if there's any good restaurant other than the one I always go to. Saw the good reviews on this restaurant so we give it a try. The place is clean. We got greeted and seated right away. All the staffs are kind and courteous. Never even got served! Left waiting for 45-50 minutes while others were being served almost immediately after being sat. We ordered basic meals and by the time we decided to leave magically the food was ready. Apparently it was just sitting in the back waiting for a server to bring it out. Owner was rude and disrespectful to my elders, telling them it's not McDonald's and this food takes time to prepare. That's understandable cause even if it's simple it does take time, but the fact the chef openly told us it was sitting there waiting to be brought out for a hot second only further justified our frustration. When we tried to leave money for drinks and what little chips we had, the owner blatantly said "I don't want money from YOUR people" and to get out. He then proceeded to take photos of my elderly aunts and uncle, mom, brother and grandmother for "future reference". It's felt more like a racial attack on part from the owner than anything and it's unfortunate. Be better and do better because this is not appropriate nor appreciated and if the owner is reading this I hope he messages me so we can talk about this misunderstanding and if not I hope others never deal with this service ever again. read more

Visited on a weekend eve while in town for an event. Place is clean and staff were very welcoming and friendly. Lots of positive reviews which encouraged us to try it out. Unfortunately the food was not as good as we expected. We had the chips and guacamole and onion ring apps, both were good, but onion rings aren't made in house (hand battered) so nothing special. The chips were fresh, however and the best part of the whole meal!! We had the caprese sandwich and roadhouse beef sandwich both with garlic fries for the entrees. Neither were bad but they were just ok for the sandwiches. The bread took over the caprese and with the tomato and other items cold it was an odd combo. The garlic fries were really terrible. Piled with Parmesan and a blob of cold minced garlic hidden in the middle, tart and not good. We really wanted to like this place more. Prices were reasonable and the staff really were nice and went out of their way to connect with patrons. Might try it again, hoping they make more items in house/home made. read more
