Stumbled on this place while looking for a drinking spot up north. Cool vibe being in old school round rock. When you walk in they have mostly a collection of not your average beer. For those looking for bud, coors etc time to expand your horizons lol. Every month they switch up which brewery they get select draft beers from, notably good draft breweries! This month they were featuring Clown Shoes, a brand that has some really great IPAs and high % which is nice. Tried a 12.5% stout while here and it was amazing. For sure a beer lovers bar! read more

What a great place in downtown Round Rock! We met a friend here for drinks late, and the wait staff was wonderful! I don't think I've ever been in a bar with such nice and professional staff. They have an epic beer selection. Though beer isn't my thing, the selection still impressed me! They helped me select a beer, as I said, beer isn't my thing. They were patient and actually found me an option to "get me through the night". I did move on to margaritas though, and were these delicious! So why the 4 starts, well, they kept running out of things. For instance, my margarita went skinny when they ran out of the regular mix they use. Then, they ran out of limes! The margaritas, even the skinny ones, were fantastic! They use A LOT of ice, but still tasted delicious. Decor was wonderful for Christmas. It was just a warm and inviting space. We will definitely go back if we are ever back in that area! Parking was sufficient, as it was a weeknight. I'm sure that helped for it not to be too crowded. Everything was very clean also. Just a great place to go and meet with friends over drinks. If you're expecting tapas, call ahead to see when the kitchen closes. Beer choices were extensive. I'm NA so I got an alcohol free beer from a brewery called Athletic. Always a good sign when a bar carries a few NA options. Would go back when in town. You walk in and feel like you've stepped back in time to the classic pub/brewery. The ceilings are high, the Decour is cool, and everything else is an A++. This place is great! I used to come here often for happy hour, but I don't really drink these days so I have not been in a while. My friend and I haven't been in a while so we popped in on a Wednesday night to see if anything has changed. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive. This place got busier as time went on. I don't know why, but I've always loved their pretzel pizzas. It's so good!!!! What do they put on it? Yum! I've had the pretzel here and wings as well. Everything I have tried here is good. We tried the BBQ sliders on this night and of course we ordered the meats pizza. The sliders were pretty good. For a limited menu, the food is good. I really like the biergarten area in the back. That's where we normally like to sit, but since the game was on we sat at the bar. Cool little bar! It's smaller than the one at the domain, but it's still a cool bar to explore. So many beers on tap and they have so many Texas beers that I feel I will not get to try them all. They were playing good music, and it was a good environment. The odd part was that they close at 1 on a Saturday. That was a bit weird since typically bars close until 2 on the weekend. I've been coming to The Brass Tap for a few years now and love it! The back courtyard has giant Jenga and other games and there are plenty of seating options both indoors and outdoors. Just recently tried their food and the loaded fries were pretty good! I was looking around at surrounding tables and their food all looked great. Can't wait to try more here in the future. Yes, everything that PhillipB said in his review (30 rotating taps!!!), plus... Any joint whose menu is 13 pages long and only one consists of food (snack tupe; fresh pretzels anyone? They are yummy!) items is pretty groovy in my opinion. Really cool. Fido friendly patio that seems more indoor than out, but with tons of fresh air, a cool open/close slat ceiling, and a unique fire fixture. I wouldn't put Brass Tap in the dive bar category. It has a very laid back atmosphere, with some sleek lines and both modern and rustic flare. So, yeah, not a place I would recommend for hungry folks; however boozers (winos and liquor lovers too) should rally here as quickly as they can! Cheers to beer...and great friends! P.s. I'm still looking for the ghosts. ;) TIP: Google maps had us driving in circles. I LOVE draft beers! This place offers one of the largest selection of beers (draught and bottled) that I ever saw. Many local beers draft are available, beer flights for 10$. Nice and competent staff. I strongly recommend: - the 512 nitro dark beer (Pecan Port nitro) smooth and creamy. - the TPB thirsty goat (amber ale): not sweet but tastes like a proper amber beer, sparkly and very refreshing. I come here fairly frequently, mainly because it's so close to my house, and I'd probably give this place 5 stars, but there was one time my wife and I came here to hang out with friends and she was drinking wine by the glass. On that night, we were here for a few hours and in that duration my wife ordered six glasses of wine. She assumed she was ordering house wine - she didn't specify, and perhaps that was her mistake - but when our barmaid brought me the tab, I discovered they had charged us $14 a glass for what we all assumed was regular ol' white wine. That came to $84 plus tax for six glasses of wine, plus my beer. Huge bar tab that night - well over $100 for the two of us. So be careful if you come here and you want to drink wine - there are cheaper options for wine (around $5 a glass), so make sure to specify as we learned to do on all of our subsequent visits here. Oh, and they have beer here, too. In fact, it's mainly a beer place, hence the name "The Brass Tap". Maybe stick with the beer and you should be safe - I don't think any of the beer here is $14 a glass. Besides fancy expensive wine and moderately priced beer and food, this place is generally a great place to hang with friends - there's usually a live band inside on the weekends, there's a covered porch out back, and there's also a beer garden on the side. There were a couple of mistakes by our server at first, but I chalked it up to him possibly being new or simply having an off night. Unfortunately, the service progressively got worse throughout the dinner. From spilling a drink on the table, to telling us he wasn't focused, to the bartender remaking the drink and under pouring it, and it taking almost 20 minutes to receive our check after we asked three times for it, you can't blame it on anything but a lack of effort. My Fiancee' and two friends of ours visiting from Dallas area decided to check this place out on Friday night. I read the reviews on Yelp (as I always do before going), and suggested this place to them. I am sorry for doing so. We got there, in what seems to be happening area of downtown Round Rock, which I did not know existed. There are several bars in this same stretch of road. Parking was easy on the street. Once we got in, it has the bar and lot of the front area filled (no social distancing here). Sign at the front read, "Seat yourself, and we will find ya". We sat at a table/booth section across from the bar near the back. Our waiter, seems like he did not know much. We asked him questions, and he was not sure. We found out though, if you don't want beer, they are limited on other alcohol. I wanted a Grey Goose and tonic. They did not have Grey Goose. I asked for Ketel One. They did not have. They said they only have local vodkas, "Dripping Springs" and "Titos". I went with "Titos" and waiter asked three times, what I wanted with the vodka. My friend got a "Apple-tini". It came in a very small v-shapped glass, that looked like not much more then a shot...and it had ice chips floating in her drink. She used to be a bartender, and knew that is not what you are supposed to have there. Also, her boyfriend had a Long Island Ice tea. He sipped it, and it was not tasting right. So, she walked up to the bar to get it fixed. They told her to go back and get her mask and come back (*mind you, no patrons at bar were wearing a mask). She did so, and ask if they could remake it. They did so, and brought to our table by different waitress person, and he tasted it, and still not right. So, my friend asked the waitress if they knew what they put in it. They went thru all the ingredients and found out they use "lemonade" instead of "sweet and sour" , which made it taste really sweet. The food was just ok. My friend got a salad, and looked like left over pieces of lettuce they had lying around. The nachos were just ok, and the reuben and cuban were ok. It took us about 15 min or more just to get our waiter to come back to get bill. They pay attention to bar area, but not much in area around it. Sorry, won't be back. read more

Great pretzels. They charge $89 for an ounce of a bottle that costs $350 (Macallan 18). The math works out to that being less than $15 an ounce. I fully understand markup and a business making a profit, but come on. Could still make a killing at $40, and I wouldve actually bought it. The problem with this chain is the terrible service and food. They closed Domain because "the rent was going up" you could probably afford the rent if the service was better. The same will happen with this location. We sat outside and no one came to our table we had to go inside. Brass Tap really needs to figure out service. They've got the drinks down but service is terrible. I think food could be better made by a toddler. They also pride the cigar bar. Why is it that we need to suffer around smokers in the covered area?!? They should smoke in the open air. This is coming from a former smoker. My fiance and I came here on a Saturday night at 10:30 for the Silent Disco! I had never been to the Brass Tap before nor a silent disco so there were a lot of firsts for me. First and foremost, there is PLENTY of street parking a block away. There is also a huge parking garage half a block away that is FREEE. This made parking stress-free, nothing like parking in downtown Austin. There was a live band inside and a waiter came up to us immediately to let us know that the Silent Disco was in the backyard area. So we walk to the back and see the Silent Disco. We had to have a credit card on file for security purposes in order to check out the headphones. The man handing out the headphones was very kind and explained to both my fiance and I how the headphones worked and how to change the stations. There was a small tent outside that was the bar, but if that wasn't enough, you were allowed to go inside the Brass Tap and order something from there like food, etc. I like this place. It's pretty chill and pretty intimate. The silent disco DJs weren't the best, but they were okay. It def wasn't enough to get me grooving but they had my head bobbin a few times so that is better than nothing? Unfortunately, I can't speak too much on the beer selection because I didn't order a drink, but that just means we'll have to come back next time and order something :) read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. They feature a new brewery month so you can expect a new IPA just about every visit. Food is exceptional as well. The flat bread pizza is delicious and the pretzels are the perfect posting for a fruity IPA. Do yourself a favor and order the beer cheese, it is literally my absolute favorite side dipping sauce in all of Round Rock. Been coming here since the new developments began downtown. So, it tells you how long. But, lately it's been horrible service. Today they have three behind the bar and not one soul asked if I needed anything as I sat at the bar---mind you, April 09, around 1530 hrs. Let me describe them, a tall white female, a male with small beard, and a Hispanic male. I eventually asked one of them if they were allowed to pour beers. Another note...why is it customary to ask if a tab has been started--first pour the beer and ask after if a tab is needed or pay as you go. Don't make it territorial by asking about a f?!'king tab. this is an awesome bar for beers. they have an excellent beer selection and their staff is super helpful. they have an awesome patio with a cute little stage and usually have great live music. the food is typical bar food which works when you are hangry. i think this is one of my favorite spots in downtown round rock but don't expect the fanciest food choices. read more

I've been to the Brass Tap a few times and there is a lot to like. Located in downtown Round Rock, the beer heavy bar has three areas, in indoor bar which runs the length of the building, along with som tables to one side. Both evenings I have been here, this area is completely packed. Head past the bar and you'll find a large covered patio area with a fountain and some low and high top tables. This area is usually pretty busy, too. Down the stairs and to the right, a side patio features rows of picnic tables and on one of the nights I was there, live music. The menu of bar food is limited and the couple of things I've tried have been really mediocre, but hey, it's bar food and this isn't a gastropub. The selection of craft beer is fairly extensive, covering a variety of styles and flavors and the staff seem fairly knowledgeable. They also have a limited selection of whisky, rum, vodka, tequila and such. I've had a great time both times I've been here and the service has ranged from slow to fairly good. I'll be back because I love having a nice, Austin-like watering hole nearby. read more

This is our second time trying this restaurant chain. Our first one was on South Congress in Austin and was a terrible experience. We thought would give the round rock location of try. Came in happy hour and were pleased with the bartenders from the friendlyness and helpfulness. Our food met our expectation in time and quality as well as the drinks. However when I went to pay for our $40 bill with $100 cash we were told "we don't take cash". Number one, probably should tell someone that before they eat and drink your food and beverage, and number two, why? Is cash dirtier than a credit card you've never sanitized? I don't understand businesses that say "I don't want your cash". And I don't plan on patronizing them again either. read more

Went here for the first time this past week and it was a pretty cool scene. I like the layout of the bar and the cool ET figure they have on their roof, that caught my eye real quick! The only reason why I'm giving 2 stars is the service we had wasn't that great. On our first round of drinks, one of my buddies got a very flat beer. We had told our server that we all tried the beer and it was in fact, flat. She came back saying they poured it out and it was not flat so they would still charge him. We couldn't understand why he would be charged if it was flat and he didn't like it. We asked if she had also tried the beer and she kinda but back saying why would she try a guests beer and that that would be disgusting. Obviously you wouldn't drink a strangers drink, but how exactly would you know if it tasted flat or not if you didn't try it? It was definitely a "my word against yours" situation, but really?
