We brought our project team to The Breakroom in Monterey, CA for some much-needed stress relief, it was exactly what we needed --and it was a blast! The concept is simple - gear up and break stuff. Justin was an awesome host, made sure we were safe, and let us break stuff to the sounds of our own "Destruction" music playlist. Breaking bottles, fine china and electronics to the sound of our favorite hype tracks was incredibly cathartic. We brought snacks and drinks and had a great time bonding as a team. I came here with my two teens and husband when visiting from out of town. Such a cathartic experience. Helps you release all that bad energy that we all accumulate if we live long enough. It's good to let it out and leave it there. The staff are kind and helpful. They provide head coverings and protective equipment so it feels safe. Everyone loved it. Have heard of these previously but this was the first time I've been able to go. THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN. I didn't realize how much I'd enjoy it until I literally starting breaking stuff. The good- parking on site. Assuming there is a bathroom (although I didn't use). Activities in the common room while you wait for your room to be available. Justin was incredibly thoughtful and excited. He did a great job presenting the information and explaining equipment and the rules to have fun and be safe. The bad- I honestly had such a great experience I have no idea what could be improved upon. To consider-- not sure of prices and packages to be honest. BUT paid $25 for my friend and I absolutely feel like she/we got our money's worth. I don't know of minimum ages-- but I would not bring small children. read more

I've driven past this spot multiple times and have always wanted to check it out. Finally made my way over this past weekend. It was such a fun experience! Location is perfect. There is plenty of (free!) parking along the street and in the designated parking lot. Upon walking in, I was greeted by Justin (one of the owners) and some blasting pump up/rage music since a group was currently in the break room. After signing a participation waiver, Justin pointed out all the protective gear that is available - coveralls, boots, gloves, face shield, etc. It was all very organized and clean. I definitely recommend the optional fire fighter boots. They also have some lockers where you can store your personal items. Then after a pump up speech and some rules, it was break room time!! You're able to pick your weapons and a song/type of music if you want. Wait for the cue to start. I did the short fuse option. Meaning I was placed in a room that has an assorted and set amount (small box) of items to break and destroy for 5 mins. It seemed to go by quick, but also felt like the perfect amount of time. You'll get a whole upper body workout. Such an awesome way to de-stress and try something different. I'm already planning to return and bring my family here. They have great packages and a membership deal (5 short fuse sessions for $100). P.s. they may be adding axe-throwing in the future too! read more

One of the coolest things I have ever done! Went for a mini bachelorette party with 3 others. Teddy was the coolest and most accommodating. We got to choose our own music, we got to add on items to break if we wanted to. THE MOST FUN WAS HAD AND I HAVE BEEN RAVING ABOUT IT EVER SINCE. The adrenaline rush is one thing but the feeling after.....something I hadn't felt in a while. I left feeling so...light and peaceful lol A sigh of relief if you will. Anyways highly recommended. Cheaper then THERAPY & ANGER MANAGEMENT lol! I am a little bummed to just have heard about this place! If it wasn't for me being part of the Yelp Elite Squad and getting invited I still would not have known about it! I got there a few minutes early to check it out, it was awesome, great parking walking distance from Cannery Row great location, free parking! I was instantly greeted by Justin, and he was so cool, bonus points that he's a Raider fan, so he knew i was ready to rage after the loss we had lol! I signed the waiver, put on safety gear which by the way, tons of options/sizes, he tells us the rules and also gave us option to music we wanted to listen to! There were multiple rooms, you can go into a room with another person or by yourself, i def wanted to be by myself! It was great I got so excited I didn't know where to start! I had a crate of glasses and even a whole windshield to break! Justin was kind enough to set up my phone to record the whole thing so that was awesome too! You get more then enough time, def a workout i built up a sweat and my heart was pounding and hands shaking up until i got to my car! it was an adrenaline rush like no other! This is def a good spot to go on a date to, take your hyper kids, or alone time! I will def be returning! This place is amazing! I won a session in a raffle, I think the Temper Tantrum. 10 minutes of sheer awesomeness for a friend and I. We were provided with safety equipment, given very clear instructions on how to stay safe while having a ball. They were nice enough to set up a playlist of music I wanted. There was a lot of interesting tools to break things with. There was a big selection of what to break and how to break it. They even brought in a tv for us! Ten minutes sounds like a short time, but when you're beating a washing machine it seems like time has stopped. The staff was super nice and super accommodating. It seems like they have a lot of different events there to pick from. I am so grateful to the Break Room for picking me as a winner! The sessions are a good deal for what you get. Wow! What an incredible experience! I went in with a couple of my friends yesterday just to check it out. We met Justin the owner. He was super friendly and easy to talk to. Justin let us in and informed us that we unfortunately needed an appointment but was generous enough to allow us to still come in and enjoy ourselves. Went in on a rainy weekend with my teenaged daughter. We'd been stressed~ and Monterey was our little weekend away. When I drove by The Break Room, I KNEW it would be a great way to blow off the stress. I went in thinking it would be a fun and unique experience - but way underestimated the full-on therapy it ended up being (for both of us). Justin- perfect pep talk before we got started- "Let it out here and leave it here" was exactly the right thing to say. (Bonus points for taking music requests!) (Double bonus points for being our hype man through the glass) Screamed, swore, maybe released some frustrated tears...all of it... and I didn't have to clean any of it up myself! I had a lot of fun breaking stuff. Great stress reliever and gives you a reset on your day. The guys at the break room are really cool. They have all protective gear you'll need ( make sure to wear some tennis shoes atleast). You get to pick the music you want to listen to during your session. They have a paint booth where you can take kids to get crazy with the paint and pop balloons. They also recycle all the things that are used . All in all a really cool experience. I've heard and seen things like this but now to have a place that's right in Monterey in a good area where there's lots of things to do.
