This arcade is great and is a fun outing for the kids. I think this is a nice affordable arcade at Cannery Row. Its medium sized and has a good amount of arcade games for the kids like Jurassic Park gun games, Halo Reach gun games, Minecraft top down, basketball, and those gambling games where you know its a scam but the kids still wana try (claw game, etc.). There's like soda and chips you can buy for the kids. There's pinball machines. I think the best part of this spot is the couches near the entrance. I took my godson here and when my cousins came to check on us, I was like coo, Ima chill here. And I straight up KNOCKED out hahaha. There's a bean bag. Its great. There's also an escape room nearby that you can do. The cost is like $50 bought me like an hour and a half for one kid. That's pretty good to keep them satisfied. You can honestly go cheaper but I was just thinking that my godson finna cash out here so he can go balls out here. Overall, a nice arcade for the kids to do when at Cannery Row. It's also at the top floor (Level 3) so find your way up. We took the stairs all the way up. I honestly don't know where the elevator is at and the escalators were busted when we were there. That's not a down grade but just pointing it out for folks coming here.

We booked a 10th birthday party for our son in August and unfortunately had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. Months later, we returned to take our kids and visiting cousins there. Barry, the owner remembered our situation and gave us the credit to use from the birthday deposit we placed back in August. That says a lot about the owner of this establishment because I know most owners would not have done this. Thank you Barry and Christina for the generosity. We look forward to future visits.

Awesome place to let the kids have fun. Slower days my daughter can roam and enjoy her time and it feels safe and enclosed. There's only one way in and out of the place. Busier days..big pushy kids and some rude families make it hard to let my daughter roam..but she still has so much fun as long as I'm there to mama bear our way through. Great air hockey tables, some old school Pac-Man, a few pinball machines, basketball, ski ball, Minecraft, tons of easy fun games for the littles, and challenging ones for the bigs. It's an awesome place for all ages needless to say. Very clean, staff employees walk around and sanitize as they see the games open up. They have an area for parents to relax and watch sports on TV which is super nice. Been to two birthday parties here now and both were fantastic! If you need a party room, they've got a giant one that includes tables and chairs.

We had the best time at our wedding welcome party at Oscar's Playground event room! The entire staff is extremely helpful, provides so many resources to help make an input an event on, and even was checking in on us with the cleanup process. We are so thankful for the incredible hospitality, reasonably priced event venue that the Oscar's Playground offers it honestly is the best View from the third floor right on Cannery Row and we had 100 people all dressed in Waite going to explore the entire row after our event and we turned heads to the entire night. It was such an incredible evening incredible experience at Oscar's Playground and we definitely be back. We hosted 70 guests, held a magic show, TV Kahoot game, an audio guest book, music, hung an immersive flower wall, and raffled off game cards to the arcade at our event! Guests loved the bar within the arcade and ventured back to the event space. So grateful for Oscar!!!

Nice little place on cannery row. Took my kid here for the first "locals night" and it was one of the best nights out she's ever had. Snacks and games and fun! Thank you for providing the locals night. I hope it is something you continue doing.

Such a fun place! They offer 2 types of game cards, (1) an unlimited game card per x hours (no ticket prize games, example claw machines). I really like this option because I love video games, but Im not that good so I die quite quickly. With the hour play card, I can keep continuing my game. (2) There is also an option for a dollar amount play card so my kids could play all the ticket games and redeem for prizes. They also have a really cool cotton candy machine that makes different shaped and colored cotton candy. They have other areas but this is what we did

Kids had a great time and our doggy was allowed! There are cool pricing options too. There is a nice couch area for the adults too.

A Christmas Story - Such a fun game!

Ask the Community - Oscars Playground

When is locals night and is that for all Monterey. County resident's?

Local's Nights are, ideally, happening 2 times a month. They will be highlighted on our website and social media pages. We should be publishing a 2024 events calendar soon so you can mark these events in advance. Thanks so much.

Do you offer kids birthday party packages? Not really looking for the escape rooms, but the arcade activities. This would be for my 10-year-old daughter. Thanks!

Allysa, Thanks for asking. Here are the three options for the game cards for your birthday event.…

Interested in booking an escape room here. Is it dog friendly?

Dale - we are dog friendly. Thank you for asking. As long as your pup is housebroken we are excited to have them come and visit. Have a great day.

This was my first escape room in Monterey and it is the first place that I have found that allows you to bring your dog. It is rare to find dog friendly locations and I am super appreciative of them when I do find them so I really wanted to be able to give it five stars. To start with, choosing the escape room we wanted to play to was more difficult than I have found at other locations because they do not have room difficulty levels here. Their website states that's because their "adventures are unique" but so are the rooms at other locations. This is a real challenge because it makes it difficult to decide which room might be best suited to you. Of all the rooms I have done in the past, I have never had more than five people in my group and the majority of the rooms were done with only two people. I have also only not finished one room prior to this location and I knew going in that it was going to be a challenge to do the room with only two people because that was explained to me beforehand. Personally, these kinds of things affect my level of enjoyment. We chose "The Gate" and the only thing that seemed to be unique to this room on the website was that it stated it was not recommended for children under 16. I assumed that was because there might be something scary or adult about the room. When we arrived, as many other reviewers have noted, parking was a little bit confusing. We ended up paying for parking because the area gets quite crowded and we were concerned we wouldn't be able to find anything close. However, as we approached on foot we saw that they had a few designated spots right next to the door for for customers of the escape room so if you are going to come here, drive through the parking areas to see if there is free parking available for you nearby. The employee that greeted us and the general vibes were also different from almost all of the other escape rooms I have been to. It was very low energy and matter of fact, which I don't have a problem with but again is quite a departure from the normal excited welcoming tone of escape rooms. We only had to wait a few minutes and were brought to our room and given a short introduction. We had multiple issues once we started playing. The first issue for us was that you are not given any kind of light source and it was an incredibly dark room. Most escape rooms give you a lantern or a flashlight but we had to pull out our phones and try to use the flashlight from our phone while we were playing. This also goes for a notepad or digital notepad to collect information which would have been useful on a number of occasions in this room. (Better AC would have been nice as well as they were both sweating quite a bit during this experience.) Secondly, we were supposed to listen to sounds coming from pipes during the game, which we did figure out and did try to do but no matter how hard we tried the sound just wasn't working well enough and the employee ended up having to tell us the answer. They later stated that it is very difficult to hear and a lot of people have a problem with that particular section. They also weren't clear about what part of the pipe we could remove and when we took it off to try to hear better they came over the intercom and, in my opinion, a little rudely, said to "put them back on". Then saying not to take the whole pipe off just to take the cap of the pipe, which again was difficult to discern in the dark. We would never actively pull something off or make things difficult for the employees, but we had been told we should "remove" those to hear better. It was very confusing and very unpleasant. Another issue for me was that the clues just weren't interesting or cohesive and I didn't really get how they connected to the story. At any rate, we realized after a short time that we just weren't having very much fun. We basically said let's just get through it and finish and get out of here, but this is actually only the second ever room that we haven't been able to finish. It was quite a sour ending to an already not super enjoyable afternoon and the cherry on that was when the employee told us afterwards that this n't is an incredibly difficult room to do with only two people. Now if I'm being honest, I don't know if they say that to try to make people feel better or if that's the truth, but things like that would be really great to know before going in. I am genuinely writing this review in the hope that it is helpful. Under different circumstances with better communication, I would actually consider returning to one of these franchise escape rooms in Monterey, but we really just didn't have a great experience and I think it's important to share the negative as well as the positive so that people can make improvements.

We took advantage of their Summer Nights special--just $24.95 for an unlimited ride wristband after 5:00 PM--and it was such a great value. We rode everything we could and had an absolute blast. One of my favorite parts was the historic carousel. It has the classic ring game where you grab a metal ring as you ride and try to toss it into the clown's mouth. My grandmother used to tell me about doing the very same thing when she was a little girl, so getting to experience that tradition myself was incredibly special. You also can't beat the views from the Sky Glider! Seeing the beach, boardwalk, and ocean from above was beautiful, especially in the evening. I'm not a fan of spooky but this was fine since I had a friend with me. I actually thought this element was a nice touch to the whole pressure of escaping within the hour. The room wasn't lock heavy which is nice and had some unique puzzles. Atmosphere of the room added to the spookiness, especially the very dim lighting.
