My favorite breakfast place in Venice! Such a cute ambiance and great selection of food!!

Food and service was very good but beware: they charge you extra for using a credit card.

Delicious breakfast quick service. You can tell it was prepared by a chef. Eggs Benedict were perfect. Definite recommend.

I been to Breakfast cottage several times and always enjoyed my meal. I've been craving a good Belgian waffle for months but I'm rarely up and out before 2:00, closing time for most breakfast spots. In a nutshell; flavor was good, and it was hot, but missed the mark on texture. The outside was not crispy and the inside not fluffy. Kind of soggy outside and doughy inside. It took a very long time, for just a waffle, they weren't too busy. I silently ate 1/2, wasn't worth the fuss to send it back and wait for another. Oh I'll go back, but probably won't order the waffle again. read more

My in-laws took us too this breakfast gem while in town. All our meals were excellent. I had a monte cristo sandwich. The taste was great. The breakfast potatoes again great. The waitress was helpful and knew the menu. All in a the place is recommendable for a nice breakfast. read more

This was such a nice change to have breakfast outdoors, and instead of a concrete patio, amongst grass and trees. You really do feel like you're at a cottage! We arrived on a Sunday morning at noon and it was pretty busy; about 5 couples ahead of us. There's seating inside, outside on the deck, or on the grass under the tree. Any of the locations are great. We only had to wait 20 minutes and we were sat out on the deck. Our server was very friendly and helped us decide which dishes on the menu. We went with the Original Plus plate and the build you're own omelette plate, with sides of sliced tomatoes. The plates came up in no time at all, within 10 minutes and hey were impressive. A huge omelette that had a good portion of bacon, mushroom, and Swiss cheese. My plate of scrambled eggs had super thick bacon. Both plates were absolutely delicious; these guys know what they're doing! The coffee was also nice and mild, and hey kept filling up our cups as we ate. I really loved this place. I was actually the only customer there at the time I went, because it was between lunch and dinner. They serve breakfast all day too. The decorations were adorable, very beach/mermaid themed. My server was really nice and attentive. The lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes are outstanding and they make one hell of an omelette. Found this little gem in our travels! Small little place with a bright whimsical atmosphere. They display intriguing crafts from local crafters that can purchased. Staff was very friendly! The food was very good, with a beautiful presentation. Mom thought she was getting a bowl of oatmeal with a side of fruit. She was delighted to see such a beautiful dish! She said it was delicious and finished the entire bowl. Husband and I had eggs bacon potatoes and toast. Eggs cooked perfectly! Potatoes were delicious. A must stop if you are in the area. This place was very cute. Quite delicious to boot! Loved the sunny vibes and colors of this funky and fun place to start your day. Outside patio seating around a grand oak provides a nice shade. They have really neat S&P shaker sets. They have a sweet or spicy shrimp and grits and we tried each-- couldn't choose a favorite. Equally delish. The gluten Free Bread was freshly made and some of the best I've ever had. The waitress was a bit forgetful, which is why I deducted a star. Otherwise, a great stop while out of town! read more

Cute place that I have been wanting to try since I moved to a Venice a year ago. I tried and was less than impressed.... I have tried many breakfast spots throughout Sarasota County In The past year, and the Breakfast Cottage has been my least favorite. I understand everyone has different tastes and expectations. I had the biscuit and gravy with house potatoes and 2 scrambled eggs on top. The gravy was scare and eh at best. The biscuit did not have the homemade taste or appearance. It was more like a small packaged biscuit that had been cut in half. The potatoes were large chunks of previously baked or par-boiled potatoes that were thrown on a grill with some grease. They were inconsistently cooked, most being undercooked and lacked any seasoning. The scrambled eggs were a large portion, but very dry and dense. I like well-done eggs, but these were just dense and tough. Lastly the catsup on the table was empty, not a big deal, but could have been checked prior to opening... Just not what I was looking forward to and won't be back. Too many other choices that I have enjoyed more. read more

What an adorable spot! Highly recommend! Everything is fresh and homemade. Today we had the bacon chocolate chip pancakes which comes with 3 fluffy crispy edge cakes. So goooood! We also had the special of the day, caprese scramble with mozzarella, tomato, basil and balsamic glaze with toast, potatoes and bacon. Get the bacon crispy, you won't regret it! Beachy decor,Christmas music softly playing... I loved the multicolored chairs with colorful coverings , lace window coverings and an intimate setting. Omelettes, pancakes and a lovely array of Benedicts to chose from. Our server Ben was as laid back as the serene atmosphere he was serving in... it was cold so we dined inside but the patio would be lovely in warmer weather.The tables were lovely with handmade fireflies adorning the outer perimeter. I loved the attention to detail to create a relaxing atmosphere.I had the oatmeal with fresh strawberries, bananas and kiwi topped with a fresh blackberry compote. Did not care for the muffin they served on the side. The food runner did not bring me milk with my oatmeal and brought my husband the wrong meal. They rectified it very quickly. Excellent traditional American breakfast! Everything was delicious. The eggs , the potatoes, the toast, coffee and apple juice , bacon with perfect grits. We enjoyed the location is beautiful the patio outside sitting on a beautiful garden deck under a tree with birdhouses and flowers around you . Gorgeous setting with roses on the tables .
