The food here was fantastic third visit and will return again. The service was fast and friendly, and the restaurant is cute and comfy.

It's a cozy little café located on the west side of the 41 that serves up a wonderful assortment of home-cooked breakfast and lunch dishes. I'm sure you'll recognize it when you see it, a bright-yellow, small country house with some big old shade trees surrounding their patio. To set the stage, we arrived at 1:15 for brunch and they close at 2:00. Service was a little bit off as they were in the "ready to go home" mode. I don't want to be super critical but it did bother me that they forgot my cream and sugar for the coffee and it did take a little longer than I would have expected to get taken care of at that time of day. Enough said about the service, I really wasn't too hung up on it. I'm only writing that as a tip for next time. Let's talk about the food... The bacon and sausage was cooked to perfection. The scrambled eggs were perfect, as was the whole-grain toast. I can't say enough good things about the quality and flavor of that food. Perfection! Now I'm going to throw a couple of negatives out here. Things that are keeping them from a five star yelp rating. The junior stack of pancakes which I guess they would consider a short-stack was a total disappointment. The pancakes were sort of flat, not soft and fluffy, and were a really small portion size as a side pancake option for $4.99. Said another way, their pancakes were disappointing. The other issue I had with my experience was the lack of willingness to substitute. All I wanted to eat was; ham, eggs and pancakes. Nothing else. Our server could not figure out a way to make that happen. She kept putting my order between the menu items listed as "original plus" and "uncle Ed's, she was having a difficult time and ultimately I settled for something I didn't exactly want. My favorite place for breakfast in the area. It can be very busy in season but it's worth it. They have chocolate chip bacon, and lemon ricotta pancakes along with other specialty ones. I usually get the Eggs Benedict but also like to try different things on the menu. There's an outside deck where you can sit amidst the trees. People are friendly, service is timely. I think it's cute for what it is. Pancakes were good and so was the bacon, and my coffee cup was kept full. I like that the maple syrup is real. Our server was attentive. The ambience is cute with the colorful chairs and local art. Staff vibe doesn't match the fun whimsical interior design though. It's about the business of service - no real joy or southern charm or connections. You'd think a place with a chubby mantee with makeup on the wall would have a lot of happy chatty staff. The stained ceiling tiles from water leakage were gross. It's not a place I'll keep going back to, but it's still not a place I'd complain about. It's no Max's Table. Found this little spot because of all the great yelp reviews and the people agree, this is the spot to come. It's a tiny restaurant but it was packed. It is in an old house which makes for a very tight fit walking through to get to your table but the vibe is grandmas house decorated with bright colors but very homey and local art available for purchase filling the walls. I got the crab cake Benedict which was good and filling. My friend wasn't impressed with her dish, the biscuits and gravy but they were both large sized portions. Staff was friendly as well! It was quite chilly the day we went so they were not seating outside but there is a nice porch typically filled with guests which would open up some space inside. read more

What a charming place! How have I never been here? The decor is fun - eclectic and casual. My son got the kids pancake breakfast - $5 for 2 HUGE pancakes and a piece of cantaloupe. We added a generous side of bacon, which is DELISH. I got the special omelette - a caprese, which was so unexpected and fantastic. I got it with a biscuit, sausage and potatoes. Everything was so yummy. Terry (and the entire staff) was fantastic! They were so sweet with my son, and so friendly & helpful. I have had occasion to visit this restaurant several times over the past several years. I have always had good service and good food. Although I know that prices are high everywhere right now, I was certainly taken aback when breakfast for two with eggs, bacon, waffle and coffee came to $48.00! In hindsight, we should have ordered the breakfast special which came with eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast for $10.99 and added on a waffle. We actually thought that is what the waitress was going to do. But when we received our bill she had put everything in ala cart and hence the $48. I did not question the bill as it was correct in everything we ordered (2 eggs, bacon, coffee and waffle each) but was appalled at the price! Add on to that a surcharge for using a credit card (we opted at that point to pay cash) and the cost of the whole meal was out of reason even for today's prices. Sorry to say that after many years of being a customer here I cannot afford to return. $60 (with tip) for breakfast is just unreasonable. read more

I had a salmon omelette, marble rye toast with awesome cheesy grits. The grits were so good I had to take an order to go. My wife had a vegetable omelette that she enjoyed. The restaurant was purchased in November 2022 by mother and daughter, who moved from New Jersey. The chef and a lot of the staff had remained after the sale which was great! Eggs made to order, bacon was crisped on request, and sausage was ok. Music selection here is super cool. Here is the demerit - homefries were not edible. Specifically asked for crispy as I noted previous reviews and disappointments. Homemade potatoes are rare so no sweat but they were undercooked; need a new griddle or better instruction to the cook. Cheerful looking place I looked forward to getting down to The Breakfast Cottage this morning. It is a cheerful looking place with each table and chairs sporting a different bright color. Each table also has different, cute, salt and pepper shakers. I just really like how they did the place. They listed a Corned Beef Hash Benedict on the menu but when I gave that order, my server told me if I wanted I could instead have a more traditional Corned Beef Hash & Eggs dish. Yes, that's want I wanted. It was ready in well under 10 minutes and it was very good. The hash was very obviously homemade, with larger than usual pieces with a nice flavor and texture. I had a choice of potatoes or grits as my side, the potatoes were about average. Service was friendly and smooth, with taking my order, coffee refills, and dropping off and picking up the bill all happening just when it should. It was not busy with just one other table occupied for most of my visit. Good thing though, with no TV or music, overhearing a trivia game going on at the other table provided a fun distraction. read more

On a Saturday morning we had to wait a little bit because it was busy and it's a small place with limited room. Parking overflowed into the lot across the street where a closed bar was. We had a western omelette which was good but I'd prefer if some of the ingredients were cooked into the egg. The potatoes and toast were very good. We got the chocolate chip and bacon pancakes which were very good. The staff were busy and very attentive. They must have had a breaker that was tripping because the power went out a few times but only for a minute each time. I didn't care for the decor. They should redo some of it and maybe try to expand the seating space. Overall I'd give it a 4.5. If we're nearby again well consider visiting. read more

They are open for lunch & breakfast however you should make reservations if you plan on coming in, especially during "the season" - our waitress shared that the rush usually begins around 10 am. The 3 egg omelette was fluffy and filled with my requested fillings. My grandma's stuffed French toast was huge & she said was super filling- on the sweet side. The restaurant accommodated my Uncle's gluten allergy & tolerated his corny jokes with grace & patience. My aunt got the biscuit with gravy which was thick and she reported was very yummy. Well, we went to this charming cottage restaurant for brunch after a morning of holiday shopping. The ambulance is wonderful and cozy - five stars. The service was friendly, fast and pleasant - five stars. Food, however, it's 3 1/2 stars for me. My friend had the blueberry pancakes and she raved about them. I had the Tuscan omelette, and it was quite disappointing. It looked like they made the eggs and then all of the filling was put smack dab in the middle of the eggs, and then the eggs were folded over. In other words, if you ate from the end of the omelette you got no filling. I opened up the eggs and spread the filling around so that I had the filling throughout. And there is the second problem ... the filling was skimpy. Lots of sun dried tomatoes but the other fillings that went with the omelette were hardly there. Oh well ... read more

Here are my reasons for giving 1 star today: 1. I came in excited to try this place out because of all the amazing reviews only to be very disappointed. there's a huge difference between quaint and CHEESY. Why are there random pictures of birds for sale on the walls? The bathrooms are tacky with the stuffed animals in the women's bathroom.. and we were sat in the front where what seemed to be a beat up paper flamingo was.. is the owner really too cheap to replace that paper flamingo? 2. The food was alright, but I'm not paying a crazy amount of money again for barely decent food. It was pretty much free breakfast at a hotel... but you had to pay almost $40 for 2 ppl.. 2 coffees, 1 original plus, 1 French toast and a side of bacon. 3. The inside of the restaurant is disgusting.. the floors are gross and there's no amount of mopping that could even clean them. They just need to be replace them. The grout is nasty in the bathroom and the termite droppings on the windowsills are a nice touch. How has this place not been shut down by health inspectors? This place is downright nasty. From what the servers wear to what is on the plates and ground. Our plate had little flecks of grits? When neither my fiancé or I ordered grits.. there was also lipstick stains and coffee grounds in my coffee. 4. Tried to order rye toast, but was told they were "out". What breakfast place doesn't have rye toast? Then asked for white and said nope don't have that either only sourdough or wheat. Overall.. as a server and restaurant enthusiast, I was not impressed.
