We had brick oven for lunch. The restaurant is pretty small but we like it. This is New York style pizza. It folds. Haven been to NYC and eaten pie there as well, thus is really good stuff. We met the owner and he is right there working with his employees. He knows his stuff and they make their sauces in house. We had a The Brick Oven with Pineapple on half. Darn good. Ate here again and even more impressed! Ordered pizza online. I went to pick up and was immediately greeted very kindly when I entered the establishment. The server was amazing taking care of me. The pizza was done when I arrived. We ordered a large 5 cheese specialty and large chicken bacon ranch. Noth were delicious. This is our new go to for pizza. read more

One of the best tasting pizzas we've had in a while, outside of our home town. Perfect balance of flavors. The pineapple does help balance the heat. We ordered the brick oven pizza. I was worried about the heat and since it wasn't busy they reluctantly let us have regular sauce instead of sauce with the red pepper flakes added. But I smeared a sample of the hot sauce on top of my first bite & decided I could probably have handled the heat... since I put red pepper on top of my pizza normally anyway. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is because the red onion on the pizza was raw, like it didn't even have a chance to cook despite the crust being crispy. I wonder if they put the onion on after baking?? We feel they should pre-sauté the red onion before baking on the pizza, to help it not have the harsh raw red onion crunch. Possibly very thinly sliced or diced would be ok but they were pretty thick pieces and overpowering flavor in the mouth. read more

The pizza was delicious. I'm picky about most things and pizza tops my list. I don't like it if it's smothered in sauce, I want to taste the crust. It was crispy yet cheesy. I think my husband either doubled up on cheese or pepperoni, I can't remember. It's a little pricey and I'm not sure of delivery because my husband picked it up. They ended up giving us some bread because we had to wait awhile. Very accommodating according to my husband. He said customer service, although slow, were quite nice and the pizza was worth it!! read more

Ordered two of the 10 inch pies - the pompeiian & up in smoke. It was enough for two people. Pizza was good - definitely not New York style as advertised but still ok. I preferred the up in smoke pie. They were both greasy & it was pretty expensive for two small pizzas. read more

BEST EVER! we had the brick oven cater our wedding with 67 pizzas and it was the best choice! they are so very friendly and so easy to deal with. everyone at our wedding loved the pizza and it was such nice pizza too! it is very full of flavor and you can tell that it is made very high quality! the owners were very nice and made the process so easy for us! we are so thankful for them! we had no problems at all, communication was so clear, delivery was quick, and the pizza was hot! read more

In the middle middle of nowhere but easy to find. We had calzones and they were awesome! The waitress was really nice and a great server. We'll definitely be back every time we're in Gulf Shores. Horrible experience! Worst customer service I have ever encountered. The pizza was not prepared when we arrived to pick it up, then we drove all the way home and the OTHER 2 pizzas were charred! Completely burnt to a crisp! They had BLACK, charred crust! $75 for 3 pizzas and was treated with a side of rudeness and bad manners. My husband had to drive all the way back and then the manager and owner were terrible. Do yourself a favor.....there are other pizza places in Foley and Gulf Shores. Choose another one, because this one has overpriced, cardboard pizza and the owners do not treat customers well. Not a good combination. EDITED TO ADD: To address their unprofessional and immature reply to my honest review..........perhaps you need to check your video cameras and employees. I never spoke to anyone except on the phone and never screamed or yelled. I would NEVER scream or yell at young kids trying to work. That is an out and out lie. Absolutely unbelievable! We have photos of two black pizzas and we also have photos of the times in which we called to place the order. I didn't want to share those, but apparently you need some "proof". We are on vacation from Louisiana. We are pizza lovers. We didn't want a chain restaurant. We found this place with great reviews. Soon as we walked in we were seated and greeted by Steve. Super sweet. Super cool dude. He took our drink order, brought our drinks, and placed our food order. We have a family of 5. We got the Big B 16" and the Specialty Cheese 16" and a Caesar salad. Mixed emotions with this review. My wife and I have eaten there many times and they have really good pizza. I learned tonight not to go there 30 minutes before closing time. We were greeted by a rude man whose first words to we're not,"Good Evening", "How are you", "Welcome to The Brick Oven". No his first words were, " we close at 8:00, can you be done by 8:00?". I was immediately offended and told the guy we could just go somewhere else if they didn't want us there. He changed his attitude a little and said oh no I just wanted to let you know we close at 8:00. We stayed and had our pizza in 15 minutes and I ate as fast as I could we were out the door at 8:02. I would not have stayed but my wife insisted that I not make a scene. As usual, the Pizza was great. Just don't expect a warm welcome if you walk in the door 30 minutes before closing time!!! All Restaurants have a closing time and Restaurant Owners have to deal with people that come in late and stay after. There are more subtle ways to let your customers know when it's time to go. Send someone to lock the front door, turn off any music and half of the lights. Worst case scenario if customers are still hanging after all that, politely tell them, I'm sorry but we closed an hour ago and I have to go home now. Just a thought. read more

It was a great find for my wife and I. When we travel we try to find local non-chain pizza places to try. This was one of the best places we have found in many years. The food was not only great the servers made it all the better. They were very helpful to us 1st timers and their interactions with other diners made for a great experience. And the place is called Scallywags. Looking at the main menu they have a huge selection of drinks, including a 32-ounce Rum Bucket, Bushwackers, and local draft beers like Fairhope Blue Steel. Scallywags is pretty much billed as a pizza joint, but with their drinks they could easily be called a bar with bar food. But the menu does have kinda bar food but much more. They just started a newer feature, a "Quick Plunder Lunch," and we went for that. It's available Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM and gets you a sandwich or a personal pizza with a drink for 11 bucks. We ended up ordering a mix of things to share around the table. We started with their hand-tossed pepperoni tavern pizza that came out hot with the cheese and toppings loaded all the way to the edge, very nice. For the sandwiches, we tried the Galley Cuban, which was pressed nice and crispy and served with a big side of house-made potato chips. We also ordered the hand-breaded chicken tenders and fries that were quite good, the calamari, and the Black Flag Reuben, which had a nice corned beef and sauerkraut on marbled rye with a little pirate flag toothpick. Everything was made to order and tasted fresh, the portions were huge, and our server was super attentive the entire time. It is a great addition to downtown Foley, and I will definitely be back to try their Chicago stuffed deep dish next time. Scallywags is closed on Sundays and Mondays, open Tuesdays thru Thursdays from 9 AM to 8 PM, and they stay open later until 10 on Fridays and Saturdays. The reviews are mostly positive, with a strong 4.5 average, with lots of buzz about the 60 cent wings on Thursday nights, and my favorite new revelation, that they fry everything in 100% beef tallow. The Brick Oven has been a bit of a rollercoaster for me, with highs and lows that keep me guessing when ordering to go. My first visit was like hitting the jackpot. The pizzas were fresh out of the oven, piping hot, and absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and don't even get me started on the tiramisu - it was like a slice of heaven in every bite. It was the best tiramisu I've ever had. But then came round two, and upon returning to The Brick Oven my experience was drastically different. The staff wasn't as friendly but in their defense they were more busy than during my first visit. The pizza was cold, bordering on burnt, and as thin as a wafer - definitely not what I was expecting. And to top it off, the tiramisu, once beautifully presented, now comes in this sad tiny little plastic container, leaving me feeling a bit ripped off for the hefty price tag. It's like playing Russian roulette - not knowing if you're going to strike gold or get a dud. I really hope The Brick Oven can iron out the inconsistencies and get back to delivering the mouthwatering experience that keeps us coming back for more. read more

I recently ordered from Brick Oven Pizza via Uber Eats, and it was a huge disappointment from start to finish. The pizza was extremely overpriced for what you get--barely any toppings, just a scant amount of sauce, and even less cheese, making it feel like I was eating a glorified flatbread rather than a proper pie. To top it off, it arrived stone cold, which completely ruined any chance of enjoyment. The cheese bread side wasn't any better; it was mediocre at best, with only a minimal amount of cheese that didn't add much flavor or appeal. Like the pizza, it was also delivered cold, which made the whole experience feel lazy and uncaring. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Brick Oven Pizza unless you're okay with paying premium prices for subpar, chilly food. Save your money and go elsewhere for a real pizza fix! read more

This place is top notch, the wood fired pizza is ready before you know it. The ingredients make the difference. I make it a point to stop at this place as much as possible when I'm in the area. The subs are great too! read more
