Headed back up to Bricks pizza after ordering two small pizzas one for $15 and the other for $12 each. I asked for extra sauce got the pizza home and it was very dry so I am a disappointed with this being a new restaurant in Grosse pointe. I was hoping that with me being a pizza lover ,that the pizza would've been really good in such a nice atmosphere ! However, I'm headed back because for $15 I want my money's worth! Also, there needs to be a station specifically for ordering carry out. We were told to order at bar but the bar was too packed and couldn't get any of the bartenders attention. Another customer and I had to tell the hostess and she helped find someone to take our order . There's work to do here but I will try and keep the faith! We just ate at Bricks for the first time. Super cute and cozy spot, they even have a little arcade area for kids. My boyfriend and I ordered the wings as an app, we were extremely disappointed that they only give 5 wings. It was a $10+ app too. Very strange to only provide 5 wings. Loved the homemade blue cheese though! We also ordered the pizza with the egg on top, it was average at best! We also asked the server twice to make sure there was no onions, and we got onions on our pizza, so they remade it. Not a big deal, but just an inconvenience. I visit whenever I'm in town. This artisanal restaurant has fabulous food and a warm and inviting atmosphere. If I didn't live in Grand Rapids, I'd be there more often. The meatballs are one of a kind and the pizza is memorable. I really appreciate the time and attention taken with the homemade dough and grain preparation, not to mention the gelato! As someone with celiacs, I was very disappointed with their lack of gluten free options. No gluten free pizza, chicken or burger options. Salad options were poor. Only reason I gave 2 stars is my husband loved the pizza. read more

They have free video games which is amazing and I have been talking about for a while because if the kids want to go there the parents want to go there. The good part about this restaurant stops there. There is literally nothing on this menu that kids will love. Yes there is pizza with way too spicy pepperoni that kids don't like and then there are overpriced salads that just don't measure up. But now to my favorite part I have never been to a restaurant where you are willing to pay for something but still there are "no substitutions" all I wanted was a half cheese half pepperoni pizza but they said they don't do that substitutions. So even when I said well can I pay for a whole pepperoni pizza and then you just put half the pepperoni on. Nope they claimed they make too many pizzas in a day to do that even though it would take less effort to put half the pepperoni on, besides being very wasteful. You can't be a pizza place and have no substitutions, hell you cant be a restaurant and have no substitutions. I will defiantly not go back. 'll never go back if I can help it. We dined with dear friends who helped make the experience "laughable!" Whoever heard of a pizza restaurant that doesn't let you ad mushrooms? Lol! Water was immediately placed on the table which was nice. However , we knew we were not welcome when the waitress' first words were, " what drink do u want"? So pushy! It's classier to say , " what would you like to start with?". We did not want drinks & she definitely did not want us. The service was terrible! The food just alright . I asked for cappuccino but the machine was broken. So I asked for decaf and my husband wanted regular. They forgot his and practically threw mine at me. No spoon, no cream and no sugar. I said milk would be fine. It arrived in a plastic red children's milk glass. Never got the spoon and never got the sugar and my husband never got his coffee. They did offer us dessert- except we were still eating the salad & pizza. The blonde manager/host hovered over us in a really annoying manner throughout the whole meal. People sitting around the bar all looked squished and uncomfortable. Sure the place was busy but that's cuz it's still very new. I'm sure it'll be around next year but not as the hoity toity place it's desperately trying to be. It'll do fine as a kids children party place (there's an arcade & room in back) . We felt very rushed to leave from the get go cuz we did not order drinks. My husband said, "we've been thrown out of better paces than this!" Lol! read more

Trenton and his great team consistently prepare amazing pizza, as well as offering a delicious selection of supporting items on their menu. Their wine and cocktail offerings are also really good! First time maybe my last time. Too many other good pizza choices around. Pizza was under cooked. Amount of toppings were below average. People next to us came in after us by ten minutes and received their pizza before us by at least five minutes. Nice servers nice atmosphere. If you manage the process and give direction the pizza would probably be better. read more

Leave the ranch and the expectations at home. The pizza produced here is not Detroit style, nor is it even east coast. The pizza here is akin to VPN (Vera Pizza Napoletana), which if produced correctly, must adhere to a stringent standards (ie special cooking methods, ingredients). The result is a different, but delicious pizza with ample sauce, herbs, and mozzarella. Combined with their use of home-grown grains, the fresh taste of their fresh Italian style pizza is a welcomed addition to the Grosse Pointe/East Side region. I absolutely recommend it. Let me start by saying food was excellent! The salad was so fresh and delicious. We sat at the bar and the Bartender was also very good. The pizza oven is out in the open so you can watch as they make the pizzas. Right after we ordered our pizza I saw the girl who was cooking the pizzas sneeze into her hand and continue working. It disgusted me especially since they were about to make our pizza. I called her over and asked her to go wash her hands and she did go into the back room and (I assume) wash her hands. But it made it difficult to enjoy the pizza after that. I let the owner know as he walked by and instead of agreeing that maybe his people could use some more training on cleanliness and health codes he said we're all human and people make mistakes. No responsibility taken. As an owner YOU are responsible for training your employees and I would hope you would take public health a little more serious. read more

Such a cute place with great potential. Delivery however fell short. As with most reviews the price was the biggest fault here. Caesar salad had good flavor, but a little small. Nothing really to brag about. I ordered the philosopher pizza which was pretty good, but the crust to pizza ratio is almost half and half i feel like it should be closer to 20/80. My friend ordered the veggie pizza which tasted like a high end little ceasars. Overall, average pizza place not best in grosse pointe. read more

Was super impressed with this place. It was very busy but we only waited 10 minutes. Adam our server was awesome! The food was very good and fresh. We had an antipasta salad and Italian pizza. What happened to the customer is always right? I ordered a pepperoni pizza and asked them to only put pepperoni on half. Offered to pay for pepperoni on all. No can do; illegal substitution; need to order two small pizzas instead; that will confuse the kitchen especially when we're busy. I could understand if I wanted half pepperoni and half Hawaiian, but give me a break. Do you really have such incompetence in the kitchen? What would happen if I ordered a Cesar salad and asked to hold the croutons? Pizza was good, but incompetence was intolerable. read more

I'll start with the good. The ambiance is nice. The musical play list is great. My wine was very good. The bad and ugly. Appetizers: chicken wings: Tasted like old reheated chicken. The mussels were just OK. My husband spit his out. My son ordered pepperoni pizza. It came out swimming in grease, husband ordered mushroom pizza. I ordered potato pasta. My first bite of pasta was very salty, it came topped with a ball of fresh mozzarella, I thought maybe this will tone down the salt. The mozzarella was sprinkled with salt. Took a few more bites and was unable to consume any more. My son (who could eat cardboard with pizza sauce) finally said this is really salty. So I concurred. It was not just me or my dish. My husbands pizza was also super salty. We let our waitress know and the manager came out and offered to remake everything "without" slat. We passed on that offer as we were already feeling bloated from the salt. They did "comp" the entrees. Pretty disappointed as this was our first and likely our last experience there. read more

Party of 4 - as soon as we entered, we were seated. However, we weren't greeted by a waitress for 15 minutes. We ordered Arancini, bread and oil, meat lovers, and pizza pomodoro. When the bus boy brought our appetizers, he straight up called the arancini meatballs. They aren't. The waitress apologized that he was new. I don't care. Learn the menu first THEN work the floor. The arancini was way way too salty (mom and I are saltoholics and it was too much for us). Bread and oil was nothing to write home about. The meat lovers pizza was salty, spicy, and acidic. Pizza pomodoro was acidic as well. Instant heart burn. Both pizzas were undercooked and the bottom was black. They did not clean their ovens out per my wife who use to work at a pizzeria with a brick oven. The bill was wrong 2x and honestly it was ridiculously expensive. As we were waiting for her to take the card to pay, I watched her as she poured water for another table. We did not receive that treatment. Granted we poured our own WAITING for her. The potential is there, but it's not going to be a simple road. There's definitely some work to do. The pizza is pretty fire, that is, if you get it before the rest of the party has finished eating their dinner which wasn't the case in our scenario. The kitchen completely forgot to make it and then acted like they were backed up. Who serves everyone's dinner but one person? Our checks were also messed up, it took 30 minutes to get water and none of the servers seemed to know what they were doing.
