My mom was one of Judy's brides about 15 years ago. Another reviewer called Judy the gown whisperer and I could not agree more. The dress I bought was made for me, and I could not be more in love, I found it the first day I went out. I hated it on the hanger but tried it on anyways, partially to be polite and partially because I promised myself it couldn't hurt to try on everything. I love the place is off the rack and what you see is what you get, which also helps with cost. I also much prefer the by appt only -- it is private, you have the place and gown whisperer all to yourself! Also the shop is brand new, and gorgeous. Judy is a talented seamstress, and dress fittings where a breeze, everything fit perfect and my bustle did not budge all night.

Reading all the other reviews makes mine hard to write. I won't deny that Judy is a bit rough around the edges. She expects you to respond to her appointment confirmations in a very quick time frame, if not you will lost your appointment. Also, She can be a bit pushy. However, I was thrilled with the work she did and the time I which she did it. I planned a destination wedding and found my dress just 2 months before we left. Judy exceeded my expectations by not only fixing my dress (taking in three layers of fabric, lifting the shoulders, hemming the length & sewing in cups) but also did it all within a 5 week time frame! No one in the bridal business ever seems to do this. I have friends who have had 9 months of fittings and were charged an arm and a leg. My total cost was $300. I didn't get warm and fuzzy with Judy and my family never came with me. Also, I bought my dress from JCrew so I didn't shop in the store. But my experience was overall just what I needed. Thanks Judy!

Judy is amazing! Make an appointment. You won't regret it!!

BUYER'S BEWARE! This…read moreplace looks okay when you first walk-in. It's the only bridal store in the mall, so my wife stopped in here to find an evening dress to change into for our wedding reception. She found something she kind of liked but they only had it in a size 4. They said they couldn't get it in a size 0, which was what she needed, so they said they could hem it. B.S. This dress was way to large for my wife and it was going to be super loose no matter what they did unless they tailored it so much that the beautiful print pattern would be compromised. They made absolutely ZERO effort to help her find a better dress or tell her the truth. Clearly, they just wanted to rid their existing inventory and could care less about their customers needs or interests. They were very unfriendly, very unhelpful, and worst of all they tried to keep the $100 deposit even after my wife said she didn't want the dress. We left the store without the deposit and no dress after deciding that the dress wasn't going to work. We called Bank of America, who issued a temporary credit for the deposit. After a couple months of investigation, Bank of America let us know that the credit became permanent. Woohoo!

I went into the Braintree store on 6/16/12 looking for a maitron of honor dress and a Jr…read more bridesmaid dress for my daughter. I saw the perfect dress (ivory color and style) for my daughter but not the size. I inquired about ordering her size and was informed it could be done and would take 2-3 weeks to receive - perfect since my wedding is in August (whereas another bridal shop it was going to take 6-12 weeks not guaranteed). I didn't have my daughter with me this day so today I decided to go to the Aria shop in the Natick Mall hoping they had the dress in her size (so I don't have to order) but had no luck in Natick as they didn't even carry the dress but did have something a little plainer but doable although I needed the ivory color (dress was in a brown) and I was eagerly informed by salesgirl they could order dress in ivory and her size. I said no for now as I would return to the Aria in Braintree and order the other dress I really liked. Once at the Braintree store today I quickly located the dress and informed the same salesgirl from 6/16 that I wanted to order this dress in my daughter's size. She initially states it can be done (like she did last Saturday) but she wanted to check with the manager about the timeframe to receive it. She returns and informs me that the dress could not be ordered because it's a kid's dress. I reminded her that she was the one who told me last week and today it could be done and now the story changes. The manager comes over and states the same to me and I inquire why one dress cannot be ordered considering the business he is in. The manager kept stating that he could not just order one dress he would have to order at least a dozen and where I only wanted one dress (instead of a few if I was having a "few" Jr. Bridesmaids/Flowergirls") it would not do "him" any good. What kind of business is he running as most places have at least a few same style dresses but in different sizes. He didn't care about customer satisfaction nor showed any willingness to help. At the end after much talk trying to convince him to order the dress he told me to call back on Monday as he may be able to check the wharehouse to see if they have the size I need. I seriously doubt he's going to even pick-up the phone. He didn't bother to take my name and number to let me know if he was able to locate the size. Both locations could also take lessons in friendliness when a customer walks into their store - no greeting at all. So disappointed as the dress was absolutely perfect and match my wedding gown if not for the wrong size...

Bassy saved my wedding dress and my wedding day!…read more I had originally gone to another tailor recommended by the boutique where I purchased my strapless princess gown. Unfortunately, the work done at the other tailor's shop left my dress butchered. When I realized something was wrong with the original tailoring, it was two months before my wedding. I was distraught because I didn't think a new tailor would take me due to the limited time before my wedding and it being right before bridal and prom season. However, someone recommended I contact Bassy and I'm so grateful for their rec! Bassy listened to my concerns regarding my dress and what the other tailor had planned to do to it, advised me to take back my dress straight away, and booked me for an appointment ASAP. Within a week Bassy had me in her shop to assess all the damage that had been done by the previous tailor: (1) the hem was uneven by inches; (2) the train was lopsided; (3) the bustle was just a loop and a button that would be visible and unsecure; (4) the bodice was taken in so much that three people were needed to zip me up, which (5) left the zipper of my dress straining and puckering; (6) so much of the bust was trimmed away that my chest was exposed whenever I moved; and (7) they made a sash instead of the custom shawl I ordered for my ceremony. The worst part about the original tailoring work is that so much fabric was cut away there was barely any fabric left to correct the shoddy work. My dress was in really horrible shape and I knew I wouldn't be able to find or order another dress in time for my wedding. Despite the multiple problems with my dress, Bassy assured me she would find solutions for the above issues and she did! Bassy evened out the dress' hem by rehemming it and removing a portion of its petticoat to ensure it kissed the floor evenly. For the train, she adjusted it so it would be symmetrical and less oblong. It looked gorgeous trailing behind me as I walked down the aisle. The bodice was a tricky fix, but Bassy executed it perfectly! To expand the bodice, she needed extra fabric and found it within the seam allowance of the bodice's panels. She undid every panel, let out a little bit of fabric from each, and carefully stitched the bodice back up so that each panel was even and proportional. She was able to expand the bodice while also making it look like it hadn't been deconstructed. Bassy's work allowed me to properly breath while wearing my dress and my mother was able to zip me up by herself with no trouble! Bassy also created a custom shawl for me that looked like something Audrey Hepburn would wear! The attention to detail is so incredible! Bassy made the shawl so there was a slight curve in the front that elegantly hugs my collar bone. I love this shawl so much I plan to continue wearing it for special events. The most incredible fix Bassy made to my dress is the bust. I thought I'd have to wear my shawl the entire wedding. Instead, she came up with the incredible idea to build up the bust of my dress with additional fabric. The original bust had a cat eye neckline with draping across it. Bassy was able to expand the bust above my chest and next to my underarms to give me more coverage. She did this by building up fabric that mimics the original bustline's shape. The final result is beautiful! No one would ever know that the work Bassy did was not part of the dress' original design. I'm incredibly grateful for the amazing and transformative work Bassy did to my dress, her professionalism, her expert advice, and her direct and honest communication. She always set realistic expectations and provided alternative solutions that would not compromise the integrity of my dress or its overall style. Bassy is also just a lovely person to be around. I was really sad about the state my dress was left in by the previous tailor. With each visit to Bassy's (and she booked me for as many as needed to get my dress perfect), I felt better and more confident. Bassy saved my dress, my wedding, and my peace of mind. THANK YOU BASSY!!!

Bassy hemmed several pairs of pants, took in the waist on others, and completely altered a vintage dress for me. The dress needed extra room, and she expertly removed the belt and expanded the side seams so seamlessly that you would never be able to tell any alterations were made. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are absolutely unbelievable. Bassy is truly a talented artist, and her work speaks for itself. If you need tailoring or alterations done right, I cannot recommend her enough. Absolutely exceptional work!
