Margherita was extremely nice, talented and quick with the dress I brought her. I had a tough off the shoulder, asymmetrical dress with 2 different types of fabric and she took it in multiple sizes (I think it was 12 and I was a 6!). She was also really accommodating in terms of fitting times since I worked out of state on weekdays. In three weeks Margherita finished tailoring my dress and the results were fantastic, bustle and all, and I went happily on my way. A couple of things that I wish could be improved - When I first commissioned her we agreed on one price and then she called the next week to say she underestimated the work and it would cost $50 more, but that she felt badly since it was her mistake so could we just split it down the middle. I agreed but thought it was a strange. The other thing was that since I was traveling to a different state for the wedding she didn't press the dress, which I understand because it gets wrinkled anyway. However, the part where she shortened the dress (new folds created) she didn't press either, so I had to do it myself to create that nice even line at the bottom, which given the price I would assume she would have helped with. read more

I was able to find something here that looked as fabulous as some Lazaro dress I tried on elsewhere. Margarita seemed to really know her stuff, well.. except, she took some "very important" call after 5 minutes of talking to me and disappeared. The lady who showed up to replace her was... nice. They are not going to help you get into a gown, forget about taking it off the hangers and passing it to you. I'm a grown up and I can dress myself, but it was very daunting to climb into dresses that weigh as much as I do, and then shuffle out to have them zipped up while some older man kept apologizing to get by the dressing area. I really wanted to get the heck out of there. I don't need to be sucked up to, but I felt like I was a nuisance to the shop... and I didn't even ask for much. What I don't understand is, there were all these lovely letters written by various brides pinned on the walls. You'd think they'd be nice. I'm guessing the gals on walls have an "in" with the shop. I was super-unimpressed by this place. I called in early November because she comes up as the nearest dealer of a bridesmaid line I've been dying to see. She told me the 2009 samples would arrive in two weeks. Last week, I happened to be in the neighborhood and one of my west-coast bridesmaids happened to be in town. I called her to see if she was open. "It depends, what do you want." "To look at bridesmaid dresses." "Are you the bride?" (a little suspicious sounding) "Yes." "Ok, then." We pull into the parking lot (which was a whole different weird effort) and walk in. I ask her about the bridesmaid dresses I want to see, she tells me they won't be in for a few months. Months. Um, not viable. So we're looking around. She asks us what we're looking for, I tell her that I have a swatch of fabric I like and I'm looking for the closest match in a bridesmaid dress. She tells me that she doesn't do that. I tell her, politely, that I'm not asking her to do anything, I'm just comparing dresses to a swatch. She nods, grunts and walks away. I ask her, as she's turning away if she has the swatch books for the dresses in her store-- she tells me that she only has one and hands it over. It's clearly the alfred angelo swatches with a sign that says "la sposa" taped over where it normally says alfred angelo. To carry several lines of dresses and not have any of their swatches seems a little silly. read more

If I could give this place a zero I would. It is that bad. Brides if you are more than a size 6 do not come here. I left in tears literally and swore to my MOH I would not buy a dress ever. That bad, The owner who some of you all love and others hate...I am on the hate side. First: We had an appointment at 10 AM on a Saturday when we showed up she said she did not have time for me come back at 2. Ok? I had an appointment. I should have known then not to come back but I did. So I told her what I was looking for and she quickly cut me off mid-sentence and said you will not find anything here. Ok? do you not want me to buy a dress? I then pointed out a few a liked and she said they where not for me. Well, I like them? Then she said what I think she was trying to say for 10 mins. You will not fit in most of our dresses. My jaw dropped. I am a 12. Not a 20 or even bigger. I was appalled. She picked me out three matronly and downright hideous dresses. When I said I did not like them she said that was all I was allowed to try on and I may never love a dress due to my special size......a 12 lady is not a special size. Ugh is how I describe this place. My Maid of Honor and I went here because they are the only place in the area that carries a particular dress that we were looking for. We went in and got the dress and a few others. The dress was beautiful on my MOH, but maybe not as formal as we had hoped for. Well, Margarita decided to tell us (over and over again) how she couldn't believe that we actually liked that dress. Arn't you trying to sell us a dress lady? We found two dresses that we both loved. I asked them who the designer was since it seemed that they had cut the tags out of every dress in the store. They said they have their own system of style numbers. I asked them who designed the two dresses we were interested in because I have two bridesmaids in California and I'd like to have them try them on and then we could order through them. They just kept playing dumb and ignoring my question. It took me about 5 minutes to find the dresses on google after we left. As other posters mentioned, they do not allow pictures. I understand this for high priced bridal gowns, but it certainly makes it hard when you are trying to coordinate with bridesmaids that are across the country. Of all the places I've been to when my sister and best friend were shopping for their dresses, this was the worst. My best friend was in town visiting her fiancee and wanted to check this place out. Problems: First, they made a big deal about making an appointment ("We're *very* busy.) But scheduled something for noon. When asked if a slightly later time was available (so she could have lunch with said fiancee she was visiting), they refused. ("We're *very* busy.) So we get there, and....we were the *only* customers there the entire time. *Very* busy? What BS! It never feels good to be lied to & inconvenienced as a client. Other things we didn't like: *Limited selection of dresses to look at (most of inventory not available for viewing) *Their system is you tell them what you like, they pick dresses. So inefficient. The woman brought maybe 10 dresses out, and they all missed my friend's style. Maybe they carried something she would have liked, but who knows? We couldn't see their inventory ourselves. *Dresses we were shown started at $800 and went up to $2000. *All tags and prices removed from sample dresses *No pictures. (Not uncommon, but the great places will allow it.) *Required dress be ordered 9 months in advance. (Most other boutiques require 6 mo.) When asked why, the answer was vague BS. ("Things have to come from China.") Sorry, but other boutiques carry the same lines, and can get things done in 6 mo. just fine. read more

Ugh. I was not impressed La Sposa. I had an appointment on a Saturday afternoon to try on wedding dresses. We arrived promptly at our appointment time. There appeared to be two consultants there (pretty small shop) and they were both helping other customers when we arrived. We ended up working with Margherita, who is the owner and apparently well-known for her expertise in alterations. She wanted to know what I was looking for, liked and disliked, etc. She went into the back to pull something for me to try on. Initially we thought that this would be a great experience, since it seemed customer-service heavy (ie, they are doing the picking for you). But when I tried on the first dress, I loved the top but didn't like the skirt. Margherita seemed very disappointed, and almost reluctant to pull another dress. She did, and it was a no as well. She seemed a little irritated, and pulled another (this was still only the third dress I tried on there). I loved the top and the shape of this one, but strongly disliked the skirt. Her response was to pin up a layer of the skirt, and seemed pissed that I didn't immediately say, oh, I'll take it! After that it basically seemed like she threw up her hands, and said, okay, well, you can go look in the back yourself. I was surprised at how small their back room was-- there just aren't that many dresses there. I pulled two more myself, one of which I liked. This is also one of the stores that removes the designers' labels from the dresses so you don't know who makes them. Unfortunately for them, I was able to identify the one dress I liked (a Maggie Sottero) from the internet. I won't be returning to La Sposa! One of my bridesmaids also said that her sister had alterations done with Margherita (didn't buy her dress there) and that the two of them had some conflicts-- her sister didn't feel listened to with what she wanted done with alterations. I came here because they were the only shop remotely close to me (I live on the Cape) that I could find that carried a very specific dress I was looking for. I called ahead and made an appointment and came with my MOH, mom, and bridesmaid. The woman there could not be bothered with us. She pulled the dress, said I would have a hard time finding anything in my size (Im a 14/16), wouldn't help us, helped everyone ELSE in the super small shop, and was sketchy as hell. And no pics. We took some anyway. I need a reference point and reminder of what I look like in gowns. Well, the dress was a knockoff at full price. No legit wedding gone designer would EVER allow a shop to pull designer tags and replace them with shop tags. Ever. That was a HUGE red flag. My girls pulled dresses for me, as she was no help. We left, disappointed, and bummed as this was my first go ad dress shopping. But I refuse to pay designer prices for obvious knockoffs , I want the name there. I ended up with a stunning Maggie Sottero at a local shop I never imagined would have the selection they did, and it was a breeze there. My sister got her dress here. She ordered a strapless, A-line dress, which was perfectly altered into a sweetheart neckline, mermaid dress with cap sleeves. I went to every fitting so I can appreciate how much of a transformation the dress underwent- it was an enormous job and Marguerite did exquisite work. Her attention to detail and quality of work cannot be praised enough. If that's what you are looking for - superior craftsmanship - then look no further. Just a few comments - for those who didn't actually BUY a dress here, I can see why you might not understand what makes La Sposa great. Marguerite and her staff care enormously about their brides, and they take their work seriously. Some complaints on here seem like the result of unmanaged expectations. It's true - before you buy a dress, you cannot take photos and you need an appointment. The fact is, most small "mom and pop" type dress vendors have the same policy. Designer names are not sewed into the dresses so that you cannot try a bunch of things on, then order the same dress from another shop. Again, a pretty standard policy. If you go to a mass - retailer like David's, you can do that, no problem. But you won't get the personal attention, or incredible alterations that they are capable at La Sposa. I have been in 4 weddings over the last two years, and have purchased and had alterations done on dresses at all types of shops (including David's Bridal) but when it comes to turning an ordinary dress into something that makes the bride look incredible, no one does it better than La Sposa. read more

I tried some of the other Bridal shops in the area and were disappointed. I stopped in one day on a whim and was pleasantly surprised , it looks like a small shop but they have many dresses in the back as well and that is where I found my wedding dress. Unfortunately I can only give a limited review here, but just have to comment on their poor business practices. I am a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding - she selected dresses for us at another shop in NH, but suggested I could go in to a local shop to try on that specific line and choose between 2 dresses. This shop was listed as carrying that line. I check their website which says under hours "Tue-Thu: 10 AM - 7 PM" (among others). I show up on Tuesday around 6:15 PM and the place is locked. There is a handwritten hours sign posted which says "Tue - Wed: 10 AM - 6 PM." Fair enough, I should have called ahead.... Then I call, on Thursday, and ask about their hours that day. The response: "we're open until 6 PM". I said "Oh, well you're website said 7 PM, when I showed up Tuesday it was closed" Response: "Well actually we do stay open later on Thursdays in the summer, we close at 7." I said "Oh OK, I'm coming in to try on a dress for my friend's wedding, I'll do my best to be there by 6, but you are open until 7?" Response: "Yes" So I show up, 2 minutes before 6, and the place is locked and deserted AGAIN! Take-home message for the shop: this is no way to do business. 2 strikes and you're out. read more

I had my first fitting this morning with Margherita - my wedding is less than 4 weeks away, but I waited to schedule this fitting...i guess because I was nervous it wouldn't fit, I don't know - anyway - even though we are on a tight timeline, she never made me worry or stress about it. No sweat. I have had great customer service here, I found a dress for my size 10/12 curvy frame that is amazing...and everything I buy has had some sort of discount applied - without my even asking. This is the one place that I have dealt with as a bride that makes me feel like a bride - and not a crazy stressed bridezilla - a happy, pretty bride (she kept complimenting me which really helped my internal omg will it fit stress) that feels good about spending a lot of money (for me) in the store. I had a GREAT experience working with La Sposa Bridal to select my wedding dress for my May 2014 wedding! I had seen a gorgeous dress in the window of La Sposa a year before my husband and I were even dating. Fast forward a year and we were engaged and planning a wedding. La Sposa was the first salon I went to for a dress. When I told them about the dress I had seen a year before, Maria pulled the exact dress off the rack. It was the sample dress, the only one left, a discontinued style...and my size! The dress was everything I wanted for a wedding gown and fit so well. Maria sold it to me on the spot for a huge discount. I came for a couple dress fittings as the alterations were in progress. Margherita demonstrated her amazing seamstress skills as she carefully shortened a pickup skirt and made adjustments in a heavily beaded bodice. Granted, the shop could use a few decorating updates...small mirrors and little space to walk around in the gowns you try on, but the customer service definitely makes up for what the shop's aesthetics lack. I had a positive experience at La Sposa. I went in after trying essentially every other bridal shop in the greater Boston area (I had a small budget so never went to anywhere high-end.) I knew exactly what I was looking for and found the absolute perfect dress on the 50% off rack. It was truly serendipitous and I was thrilled. (Keep in mind I knew precisely what I liked and didn't and fit into a sample size, so if you are looking for many options or need a certain size that's important to note.) In terms of alterations, Margherita is very kind and attentive when things are going well. However, it seems she has a bit of PTSD from some arguments with other brides (or maybe I just ready about so many on Yelp) that she seemed paranoid I was going to trash her or be nasty. At times she could be moody or tell long and kind of depressing stories during fittings but overall she truly wanted me to be happy and I was very appreciative. In the end, the dress was gorgeous, though it was not a perfect fit. But at that point I didn't even care (and I will add it was a tricky dress and there were lots of alterations needed.) If you have simple needs and are a low-drama or laid back person, I think this salon is definitely worth checking out. My experience with La Sposa was wonderful. While walking by the store front I noticed the most perfect maid of honor dress. They have such a large selection of dresses, available in so many colors. The staff was very professional, attentive and really cared about making me feel beautiful. My alterations were very reasonably priced and now my dress fits like a glove. La Sposa is a hidden gem! I knew from the moment I called the salon that I would be in good hands with Margherita and Maria. We were given all of their attention during our appointment. They listened to my thoughts during the whole process and guided me right to the dress of my dreams! The quality of the dresses is excellent and very affordable. They pay very careful attention to detail. I had visited a "big box" store before this and was met with hurried consultants, inexperienced consultants, and emails with guidelines dictating how many family members could come with me. I had family visiting from out of town for my dress shopping experience. After receiving these daunting emails from other salons, I asked Margherita if 4 people was too many to bring. She kindly responded, "Bring everyone, it is a family affair!" We were warmly welcomed and it made the experience exactly what I had hoped for! Within a half hour I had found my dream dress, a beautiful belt, and a matching veil. They managed to fit the dress and accessories all into our price point. And if this experience isn't telling enough, I am beyond excited to have Margherita doing my alterations. She is incredibly experienced which is shown through the many customer thank yous posted around the salon. When she spoke about the alterations, I knew my dress would fit perfectly. I wanted to write a follow-up review on my dress experience to talk about the alterations experience as well, but for some reason my original review was filtered out. Oddly enough, it looks like the majority of the reviews here are negative, while most of the filtered ones are really positive - I would encourage people to read all the reviews before making a decision on this bridal salon. I purchased a beautiful Maggie Sottero dress from La Sposa in June 2012. My dress didn't arrive until January 2013 - this was stressing me out, but after doing some research online, Maggie dresses typically take anywhere from 4-6 months (or longer) to come in. I called La Sposa in Dec 2012 to inquire about my dress and received a call back letting me know they called the manufacturer and gave me an estimate, which was a couple weeks into January, so my dress did come on time and I promptly received a call when it came in to schedule my first fitting. I decided to stop by on my way home from work one day before my fitting to visit my dress - they brought it out, had me take pictures of it, gave me my certificate of authenticity, all within 5 minutes of closing for the night. The customer service and communications have always been nothing less than excellent from day 1 of purchasing my dress. I have a 100% silk dress which required a difficult bustle given the shirring detail throughout (I have the Autumn Royale dress) and tulle underskirt. I had the straps shortened and fitted a bit better, cups sewn in, the hem taken up and the crystal detailing of a "magic belt" taken off the actual belt and sewn into the dress under my bustline. The dress is perfection, I went in twice for fittings, and then again yesterday for the final try-on, and scheduled my pickup for a couple days before my wedding (4/19/13!!). My bridesmaids bought dresses at Alfred Angelo, and had horrible experiences with the alterations. I couldn't imagine purchasing an expensive wedding gown and then going through the stress of having a bad alterations experience, so I highly recommend both purchasing your dress her and doing alterations here as well. Marguerite also told my sister to bring her bridesmaids dress there for her to alter if she needed to, so I believe she will also do alterations on pieces not purchased through her as well (rather than chancing it to a local dry cleaner/tailor). read more

Where do I start.... Please PLEASE I HOPE you read yelp reviews before shopping here. Sigh... I ordered my dress and viel here. When my dress came in I was notified and made an appointment in the designated theknot.com amount of time. I had ordered a size 2, what was there when I arrived... a size 14... ONE. FOUR! Not even a mistake of adding a 1 in front by accident. WTF! Check your merchandise! I'm an office manager, I check the Staples order when it comes in, and this is just pens and postits!! Not someone's wedding dress!! OK, so she is pretty useless, 2 weeks for a rush order (at least I wasn't charged thank god!), my father felt, if they can ship a dress, it can be overnighted. Unfortunately, I required special alterations bc the length of the dress needed to be hemmed significantly to a 56 to hollow, so 2 weeks it is. The only reason I got the rush is bc my Father went back to the shop and talked to her, then called the dress company directly. Margarita could not have had any less sense of urgency... She didn't even apologize until my final fitting, which I will get to that.. It arrives... again... and it's 60" to hollow. After 5 weeks (with weekly appointments) my dress was done being altered. Thank god I went in for an early 1st fitting! The 2 months leading up to my wedding were crazy stressful, the only reason I didn't rip into her and demand some sort of discount was because my grandmother died the night before - literally - I picked up the dress. Consider yourself lucky, lady, that you dodged that bullet and I just couldn't deal with anything else that day!! Otherwise I would have turned into a crazy person, NO money off after her incompetence and then over a month to alter a dress?? Mind you the alterations... were the hem! Which were still incorrect, again, I just had to much going on and couldn't wait and go back later due to what was going on, and it was 2 weeks before my wedding anyhow at this point. Oh, and of course they ordered the wrong viel on top of it, when I checked online I was also overcharged (after being given a 'discount') by $20 or $30.... If you check into yelp and still go there... shame on you. Sorry for the long review, but it all had to be said. Oh and when you pick up your expensive dress... CASH only. La Sposa Bridal helped me out in a HUGE way when my bridesmaid's dress came two days before my friend's wedding and DID NOT fit. The staff came in early and remade my whole dress in hours! They were so understanding, accomdating, and knew exactly what to do to fix the mess. Having nothing to do with my friend's wedding in Pennsylvania, La Sposa Bella bent over backwards when I came to them with this emergency at the last minute! This is a boutique bridal store; it is definately small but has extremely personalised service. The owner Margarita is FABULOUS she had a sales person helping me originally but she saw me coming out of the dressing room and brought over a gown and said "this one is it" and she was sooo right. It is a small shop, so if you're looking for a huge ritzy bridal salon, this is not the place for you. Margarita is also great working with bridal parties. My best friend was the bride (she was thrilled with the service) and there were 5 bridesmaids, 3 of whom were not local. She was very flexible with the ordering, and having us come in the week of the wedding for a fitting and last minute alterations. I came here in Nov 2014, The dresses were beautiful... but the shop needs some updating. the room to change in was so cramped, and there was nowhere for my mother and mother in law to sit! so I would come out of the room all awkwardly unzipped for help, and there were others browsing the store as welll. It was missing some space and privacy for sure. Lots to choose from, the woman helping us got a bit testy with comments my MOH's onion on one dress which was weird... I can see potential for a successful find here but it was definitely not the shopping experience I was looking for. read more

I can not believe how many bad review there are. My experience was great! I needed a dress for a formal event that was in 3 weeks -- after going to many other stores who basically laughed in my face and refused to help (OK, I know I shouldnt have waited until last minute, but still -- I am trying to spend money in your store -- you should at least *try* to help), Margherita went out of her way to help me. First, I already knew the dress I wanted and that they had it -- so I can not give a review on the experience of picking out a dress. No stores in the area had smaller than a 10, and I needed a 6. She said no problem, just come in and try it on and she could alter it with no problem, in the time I needed. I went the same day, tried on the gown and she pinned it while we chatted. She was very friendly and made me feel so comfortable, told me about her experience in the industry for 30 years and was asking all about the event I was going to, etc. She told me the dress would be ready in one week-- which was amazing compared to other places I asked. Most places said they couldnt get it done in time, or would charge a rush alteration fee. She charged $85 for alterations and it was a big job-- basically taking the dress in from a 10 to a 6, hemming it (it had multilayers) and she added on straps because I was a little bit uncomfortable with the strapless. My dress was ready in the one week it was promised. I went back and she is very particular with how everything looks. It needed a few more minor stitches, which she did on the spot while I sat and chatted with her right at her sewing machine. She did a great job with alterations, I don't think I would have trusted some of the other places to do such a large job. I will definitely go back next time I need a formal event dress. read more

One of my best friends got her wedding dress at La Sposa Bridal back in 2010. The bride found a beautiful dress that she loved during a sample sale. The owner told us that she would store the dress for alterations, and that she would fix any loose beading as a part of the experience. I was a bridesmaid and live in the area, so I took the helm when it came to dealing with the logistics of planning appointments and such. We got through the alteration process with no problems, but when it came time to pick up the dress I had several miscommunications with the owner. She kept telling the bride that the dress would be ready on one date and would tell me another date when I called to confirm. After going back and forth with the owner and my friend a few times, the owner became increasingly hostile with me over the phone and raised her voice to the point of yelling at me when I told her that she and my friend had been given different information. Prior to the hostile phone conversations I had scheduled appointments for the bridesmaids' dresses on the date when we were picking up the bride's gown. I didn't want to stress out the bride so I didn't tell her about this right away. But the day we were set to pick up the bridal gown and look at bridesmaid dresses she mentioned that she had read several negative reviews about the boutique online and asked me point blank what I thought. I gave her the details about the communication issues I had had with the owner and that I had misgivings about dealing with her from that point on. After we picked up the gown my friend politely told the owner that she had chosen to cancel the bridesmaid dress appointment. The owner again raised her voice saying that she had fixed the dress well only because we had the second appointment. I spoke up, sharing that my she had expressly told the bride that she would fix the dress as a condition of sale and alteration. She quickly changed the subject and demanded to know why we were canceling our appointment. I told her that, frankly, she had been quite rude to me over the phone. She denied this and told my friend that I am a liar. I was standing right there! I gave La Sposa 2 stars because the dress was beautiful and they did a great job with the alterations. But based on customer service I could not recommend this place to anyone. read more

La Sposa is NOT what I was expecting. I called the shop a few times to 1. see if they had a certain dress and 2. to see if they were open on a certain day. The woman never returned my phone call (wait for it) so I just went in one day. Very small selection, we had to pick through them ourselves, no help getting into them. My bridesmaid tried a couple on, mind you, i have 6 bridesmaids, with only 3 being in the state of MA. She did not let me take photos, I'm sorry but I'm not going to be taking your photos and uploading them to websites, I'm going to be sending them to my other bridesmaids. She didn't even have the correct swatch for the Dessy Collection. I was very disappointed in my experience. While we were in the shop, she decided, instead of helping us, to call all the numbers on her caller ID... So she called me... while I was in the shop... Really? This lady needs to get with the times and work on her customer service. read more

It's too bad that there are so many bridal shops out there with a bad reputation. I'd have to say, I already read the reviews before coming to this bridal shop, so I knew what to expect. The consultants were exacty as they described but I was not shocked by it since I was "prepared" haha. A sad thought, really, because I feel like a bridal consultant should make you feel comfortable since it's a very important decision! They were VERY nice to me though. The ladies pulled about 6-8 dresses for me and 1 which we really liked, that was quite different from anything I'd ever seen. I didn't end up buying my dress here, but I'd have to say it was an OK experience. I wish we could have gone into the stock room to look though. read more

My MOH and I stopped in here today as the final stop of a day of trying on bridesmaids dresses. We called because we were in the area and they said we were welcome to come without an appointment. That's about where their star power ends. Upon arrival, we pulled about 6 dresses of varying sizes based on what we had seen in other stores. My MOH quickly found a dress she looked stunning in and loved. When we asked to see swatches, we realized they had hidden the designer information. All of the dresses are uniquely numbered, so you don't know the designer and all swatch boards have the name removed. Also, no photos are allowed. It just felt sketchy. After finding a second dress we liked, with no information we politely said thank you and left. It is worth noting here that as my MOH came out the second time that both ladies commented they were astonished we'd chosen such dresses (as if they should know better than we did what looked good). Within 20 minutes of googling, I found both dresses and their info that they refused to give us. I will be buying dresses elsewhere. read more

Margarita and Maria saved my dress and reversed my wedding meltdown! I was searching for a specific belt for my dress. The dress shop I was using (Bride and Belle, NOT RECOMMENDED) was not helpful and flat out lied to me about the company that made the belt and told me it was discontinued. I called La Sposa (recommended to me by Mori Lee) and told them the situation. They offered to help! I went in with the belt and 1 minute later Maria went in the back and reappeared with the belt that I needed! After spending 2 weeks in tears, La Sposa saved me...They went the extra mile and were supportive and helpful in all of our interactions! I am sure you will be pleased if you visit them! read more
