We knew nothing about the restaurant when we walked in. Clearly no ambiance, friendly staff, somewhat slow process and really delicious food! We had no idea it was also a nonprofit working in partnership with a local college. The chicken with cheese onions, tomatoes and special sauce was excellent. Great flavors, good portion of chicken and fresh bread. Huevos rancheros was a huge portion and very tasty. Lots of jalapeño peppers and tomatoes to go with the eggs. Hot and new, The Bridge Cafe is one of the latest additions to the vibrant San Luis Obispo community. Recommended by a close friend, I was excited to check it out. It smelled heavenly upon walking in, I ordered a hot flat white and my friend got a mocha. We got their signature breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches, and enjoyed catching up. The workers were nice and helpful! The food did take a decent amount of time to come out, but it was very good! I really enjoyed my chilaquiles and am looking forward to come back to try the huevos rancheros. I wasn't the biggest fan of the French toast, as I have a crazy sweet tooth but they were more of a healthy adult version. They have both indoor and outdoor seating! We had to visit the bank in SLO so I suggested a quick lunch at a little place I discovered when serving on jury duty years ago. What used to be Breaking Bread is now a nonprofit, The Bridge Cafe, and it's AMAZING! My husband had chicken tortilla soup and I had quiche. Both were delicious! Afterward, I asked what the big cookies were in the bakery case, and the man behind the counter gave me one! It's a chewy ginger cookie, yummy and HUGE! I love eating here and I KNOW others do too because almost every time I try to get a cinnamon roll they are out I get out of work real late but the early birds get the cinnamon rolls best tuna melt I have had in my life! And every item I have tried has been delicious. I usually stay in and eat because of the great vibes and music but these last couple times I had to order for pickup! Add fries to compliment! This visit I decided to also try the French Toast, wow best French Toast I've had! You can taste the freshness, everything I'd made to order. Enough about the food, let's talk staff: service is 100% friendly! There is a positive attitude and always friendly smiles, really make you feel welcomed. Came by for an early Thursday morning breakfast. The place is very cute and modern. There's one table for 4 inside, 6 table tops and the rest is patio seating. We tried the avocado toast and breakfast sandwich, very flavorful and filling. Lattes were great and based on reviews we ordered a croissant and scone, freshly baked each morning, absolutely delicious, the warm croissant melts in your mouth, worth every buttery calorie! Service was helpful and friendly. I believe there's only street parking, which can get tricky when busy. I definitely recommend trying this place and we will return when back in SLO. read more

This place should have a line out the door. We split a Bridge Burger with Garlic fries for a lighter lunch. My half of the burger required 4 napkins - in a good way... juicy pink burger and delicious sauce! The garlic fries with Bridge Sauce were perfectly crunchy and plentiful. We ended the meal with a sticky bun for dessert. Oh... and we had the best Dirty Chai that I can remember. It required no "doctoring" and was nice and hot.
