The Bronx Pizzeria, stomped their way in Throggs Neck a Few months ago. And when The Tasty Ladies documented their visit, Jason M. and I, decided to try a slice and some refreshments. The name is synonymous with old-fashioned neighborhood pizzerias: typical yellow menu boards and wooden tables/chairs decor. It's flashback to that 80s-straight-up-Bronx-corner-pizza-spot! Nothing fancy and definitely, not the spot to grab an artisanal pie or slice. In turn, our slices were decent (thick for my taste, nonetheless, good): my Plain Slice, had a suitable amount of cheese and light sauce and Jason's, 'White Slice' looked divine. Service was warm and friendly and one of the gentlemen, hooked me up with a Vanilla egg cream that came together ok, with a good trace of fizz. Nice to see a family business, opening and thriving every step of the way in The Bronx!

What type of dough is this?

Lol where do I even begin? I placed an order through grub hub and decided to trust yelp reviews based on pizza places delivering to my address. This seemed to be the best one apparently. First off, that in itself is a major lie. Delivery time was fast which is always great. Once I had opened my box, I didn't expect to see what I saw. 4 small slices in the hugest box that has now caused my "toppings" to shift off the slices. I had ordered special slices and noted in toppings I wanted in hopes they'd understand that's the type of specialty slice I longed for. Judging from the photos posted by the business owner onto yelp, it's what I expected to get in the special slice. Instead, what I received was the complete opposite. They literally took the saddest plain slices they must of had sitting there and threw the toppings I wanted on them. For example, I asked for any slice that contained eggplant or veggies that they might of had available and they actually just threw a long thin by sliced piece of unseasoned eggplant onto the slice. They didn't even cut the eggplant into pieces lol. (See photos). The chicken on my chicken broccoli was a joke in the entire slice itself. The pizza dough was surrounded by crust that was now eating its way into my pizza so it was pretty much just crust. The dough itself was so paper thin (See photos) that it just tasted like cardboard. And the chicken was chewy and just not edible. To be fair, I asked for crispy but did not realize that today the crust would be paper thin causing it to just burn instead. The greatest part of this all is when I called the pizza place to complain about it, what I heard what he last thing any consumer should hear. I imagined it to be better like maybe say "I'm sorry that Your pizza didn't come out right", "I'm sorry for this, let us remake it for you" - honestly, a simple sorry would of been great. Instead, I have this poor, poor girl on the end of the other line dealing with me and the owner now. I could hear the owner in the back screaming at the top of his lungs. At first, I thought there was a game on their tv and maybe a customer was getting excited. As I listened closer, it's the actual owner arguing with me in the background about how I have shitty taste and how his pizza is the best I will ever have. Insulting me and cursing at me through this poor girl he has on the phone. Didn't even have the guts to pick up himself and say these things to me. To the owner, you are so rude and disgusting, so disrespectful that I am even surprised at how you even have a customer base. I'm actually even shocked that you've managed to gain 4stars on Yelp and maintain it. Wow. Your pizza is actually one of the worst I've ever had. I've had frozen pizza that tasted better than this trash you serve. At this point, I would've been happier with papa johns or lil cesers as much as it kills me to say that. This is the first and last time I will ever be ordering from this establishment. So much better to actually drive out of my way to get better pizza like Full Moon. This place is an absolute joke and a nightmare!

Over 10 different kinds of pizza!

So I went to review a new Pizzeria today in the Bronx. Like we need another pizza joint in the Bronx! It's taking the place of another Pizza place that went out of business, so I wasn't that excited. The Bronx Pizzeria & Restaurant has a full menu with over 10 varieties of pizza, fresh made calzones, pasta dishes, entrees, chicken wings, etc. Yada Yada Yada! I ordered about 6 different items to start and no I did not eat it all! Remember Bikini season is coming! I started with their famous "Grandma's" pizza. The sauce, the cheese and crust is top notch and delicious with fresh basil sprinkled on top! Plus on Mother's Day it will be 1/2 off for moms! ( $10 a pie instead of $20!!) I can understand why it's famous now! The Hawaiian slice was so flavorful with the ham and juicy pineapple! The sausage was great with big chunks of spicy sausage!! White pizza is not my cup of tea because I love the sauce, but this slice of white was really surprising! It was seasoned perfectly with gobs of gooey cheese atop and a crunchy crust! Onto the calzones, we had the chicken Parmignia ( of course) calzone that was stuffed with a lot of tender chicken, mozzarella and sauce in a crunchy shell. But my favorite has to be the Pepperoni Pinwheel roll !! These were amazing and put me right on the flavor train to fulfillment vile! You HAVE TO TRY ONE OR TWO!! The place is not fancy but owners Chris and Claire have jazzed it up with colorful pictures and one long runner that is very attractive! But you don't go to a Bronx Pizzeria for ambiance but great pizza, the best in the world!! And this Bronx Tastyladies NY should know being raised on great Bronx Pizza! Check out all their specials on their beautiful web site at http://www.thebronxpizzeria.com/ and their Facebook and Instagram pages! Delivery is free and they are also on Yelp24 and Grubhub for online convenience.

All the raw dough in my Pepperoni Roll. NOT CHEESE ! Trust me I tasted it

$11.50 for a Sausage slice and 2 pepperoni rolls. . Oh and get this, the Pepperoni Rolls were raw. 50% raw dough. Never going there again. Go down the block to the other pizza place, their great !

The flavor of the pizza how tender the chicken is the crunchy crust . love it zeppolis are soft and crunchy and sweet

THE BEST GLUTEN FREE PIZZA EVER!!!
    Dee M.

Went in last night and ordered a pizza for my family. It looks amazing perfect crust standing straight out the way a NY pizza should be. Unfortunately I am gluten free so I couldn't have any. I had met the owner who was exceptionally nice and told me anything I wanted to have he would modify it so I could enjoy his food. I asked if he would consider a gluten free pizza and he said he would try to figure out how. Today I went in with a thought and he met me with a solution for me. I'm getting my gluten free pizza!!! He spoke to one of the workers who are familiar with the gluten free pizza crust and they are going to be carrying it starting early next week!!! I can't wait to have my pizza again I am so stoked now instead of making it on a night I don't feel like cooking I can have my pizza and eat it too!!! Very grateful for the new owners who care about the community enough for a simple request on just a single person. May he have many years ahead of him!!! OMG they got the gluten free pizza and it's TO DIE FOR!!!

We got a little bit of everything...try it all. You won't be disappointed :) Your newest fans from Michigan

Period…read more If you want to know what real New York City pizza is supposed to taste like, stop looking and get to Louie & Ernie's on Crosby Ave. This isn't just a meal; it's a Bronx institution. The Vibe: Old School & Authentic This place is as "old school" as it gets. It's located in the basement of a house, and walking in feels like stepping back into 1959. There are no fancy decorations or "artisanal" gimmicks--just the smell of fresh dough and a gas oven that's probably seen more history than most museums. * Pro Tip: It is CASH ONLY. Don't be that person who gets to the counter with a card; come prepared. The Pizza: The Best in the Bronx I've had a lot of pizza, but this is easily the best in the borough. * The Crust: Paper-thin, perfectly salty, and has that signature "Bronx fold" with just the right amount of char on the bottom. * The Sausage: This is their claim to fame. They use huge, fresh chunks of sausage that are packed with flavor. It's heavy, it's greasy in the best way possible, and it's legendary. * The Sauce/Cheese: The ratio is perfection. The sauce is tangy and bright, and the mozzarella is creamy and never "rubbery." The Service The staff here are exactly what you want in a legendary neighborhood spot--friendly, fast, and no-nonsense. They keep the line moving, but they treat you like a regular even if it's your first time. Verdict: 10/10. It's simple, it's classic, and it's the king of the Bronx. If you haven't been, you're doing NYC wrong.

Unfortunately, the food I ate fell very short of my expectations. I ordered a few slices of both their regular pizza and Sicilian. The Sicilian slices barely had any sauce and too much dough that was not flavorful at all. The cheese did not taste that good either. The regular pizza slices also lacked flavor and sauce. They were also too thin and the crust was only a little crispy. The fresh mozzarella and tomato slice tasted the worst while the slice with pepperoni was somewhat better. I'm not sure if my experience with this restaurant is an outlier, but I was very disappointed with their food. If I am ever in the area where this pizzeria is located, maybe I might stop in to get a slice to see if eating in person leads to a better experience.

I enjoy the Chicken Parm, Meatballs, Pizza, Mozzarella Sticks & deserts! I definitely have a thing for their Vodka sauce too How's the food? The meatballs are so good.. Tender.. They fall apart which I like. Not big on huge, dense meatballs anyway.. These things taste amazing! You gotta try them.. The Chicken Parm with spaghetti in Vodka Sauce is one of my favorites dishes The chicken is nice and tender, sauce has a great flavor, cheese is nice and melted, pasta perfectly cooked and it's a pretty big portion! The Mozzarella Sticks are like no other! I'm telling you! They make them fresh on-site.. Not store bought frozen sticks where the cheese pops out the casing.. These things are the real deal.. The cheese is stringy, well melted.. And they're pretty big.. They don't skimp.. Good for like 2-3 people.. I can only eat one myself.. The Pizzas are pretty good too! I really enjoy the entry dishes but if I'm with a group, I'll get a pizza to share. They're pretty small anyway. My favorite dessert is the Conollis! They have a nice airy, light casing.. The ricotta filling is so flavorful and fluffy.. So on point The service staff is always welcoming, accommodating and super cool. Really good crew. The place itself is so chill. Layback atmosphere, some really cool music plays in the background, classic Hip Hop, Funk/Soul breaks and more.. historical art decor fills the walls and vibes are always right in the spot. Might even have some games on the TVs.. great spot altogether.. You can see the Pizza cook in their fire oven.. Pretty cool I think. So if you're looking for a really cool spot to munch at in the Bronx Kingsbridge Neighborhood, you should definitely check out Kingsbridge Social Club. It's a vibe! Have a good one yall! -Ray

It turned out to be one of the best recommendations we've received. My mom, my daughter, and I absolutely loved our experience.
