Attended happy hour here and it was a great experience. We had a choice of inside or outdoor patio as well as tables vs. booth. I appreciated that comfortably was offered. The happy hour deals were great. The menu is relatively extensive with something for everyone. It's a casual spot with a cute outdoor area. Our group enjoyed our food and beverages. I would definitely return.

**this review is solely for take out!** My coworker and I ordered takeout for pickup today and the food was so good that I had to write a review! We weren't super hungry but we were craving a chicken Caesar wrap, so we decided to order and split a blackened chicken wrap which came with fries, and corn riblets. I had no problems with pickup and the hostess was super nice. Ordering on the website was a little glitchy but it worked out. The blackened chicken wrap was delicious- well-seasoned, perfectly cooked chicken, just enough sauce, had a good kick without being too spicy, and the tortilla had a great char. The fries looked like basic fries but they were also very good. Lastly the corn riblets - super tasty, lightly seasoned and the chipotle sauce that came with it was really good too. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back here again one day!! Maybe for Wednesday night karaoke :)

PROS: The atmosphere was great! Rustic inside, nice patio and gravel area outside with couches and games. Food was priced well, menu variety was plentiful, staff was friendly. Loads of parking too CONS: Slow service, patio furniture was uncomfortable, I ordered a lamb burger with cheese and they gave me feta cheese instead of the typical American cheese. Then when I sent it back and they came out with American cheese it wasn't even melted OVERALL: I would come back here, but I have to be very literal with what I want and I need to be mentally prepared to wait a while for the food to come out

PROs - ambience , atmosphere , service CONs - nothing much except parking . Food was 4 stars . It's almost a hidden gem in metuchen. Have passed by this place many number of times and atlast went in !! From outside it looks a small place but it's actually huge ! Plus the backyard seating ! Such amazing ambience inside and also in the backyard . Beautiful lighting and live DJ ! Superbbbbb Service was fantastic ! Loved their choice of beers in the tap .. blue moon was good . Ordered wings and it was ok. Was a bit dry and then they gave me more sauce . Parking was the only issue here . It gets crowded and the parking is pretty much occupied . Apart from this , everything else was awesomeeeee.. thumbs up

    Mussels in white sauce

I met up with a friend for dinner and drinks on a Friday evening. To start we had the shrimp cocktail and the mussels in white sauce. The shrimp was fine but the cocktail sauce was subpar (I also would've loved a little horseradish with the sauce). The mussels in white sauce were excellent. The flavor was there and the mussels were cooked properly. For dinner my friend had the penne vodka (it was ok; average at best). I ordered the crab cakes served with roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables. I was soooo disappointed in my crab cakes. They were HUGE but they were all filler, no killer. I was digging for crab meat and barely found any. :( my roasted potatoes were fine and so were the veggies. To drink I had a house Cabernet, and a shot towards the end of the meal. The shot was chilled perfectly which was nice. All in all, an average experience.

The service I received at The Brown Stone was exceptional. I arrived late on Friday night for an impromptu dinner date with my hubby, and the place was packed. We weren't sure there would be seating for us, but the host (a distinguished gentleman named Rob or Ron) told us to give him a moment and assured that he'd find us a good spot. Hats off to him for going above and beyond to make us feel special. The wait was less than 5 minutes. Because there was only outdoor seating available, he set up a clean table positioning us directly near a heat lamp to ensure that we'd be comfortable and cozy because the night air was humid with a slight chill. Where we were seated out back, we had a up-close view of a competitive corn hole match. The vibes were amazing. Outdoor bar is huge and there's a large tent as well. I very much enjoy the tranquility of the outdoor waterfall. There is much room outdoors to move about - much space to entertain a large gathering or private event. Hats off to the bartender. The drinks pack a punch and you certainly get your money's worth. Must try their signature old fashion!! As for the food, the appetizer sampler is always a go - wings, mozzarella sticks, fried zucchini, cheesy wedges, and maybe one other item that I'm forgetting at the moment. For my entree, I ordered the crab cakes, and although they were rather tasty, texturally they are a little too mushy for my preferences. The dessert tray had a mini key lime pie that I was excited to try but it was just okay. Too much moragne and not enough key lime filling. My overall experience at The Brown Stone was great. I'd gladly come again for a night out with hubby or a group of friends. I just won't go for the crab cakes or the dessert next time.

Nice place and good variety on menu, only negatives is that it was a little loud for a Saturday afternoon and a little pricey for the area.

We had Brunch at "The One", the Rooftop at Tommy's and the overall setting was so beautiful. So how did I wind up back here? Bit of a story but if you read my first review you'll see how I met a friend that I met online 13 years ago for the first time and this was the place we went for dinner after an event. Well, now a year later, her and I were traveling together north to Parsippany and this was the closest restaurant that looked appealing. It was not until we enter the parking lot I said out loud, this is where we had our first dinner. Anyways, enough of that love story. I really want to give this two stars for service but the food really pushed it over the top. So all in all I will keep it as a four star review. I want to address the food first, I had the short rib tacos, and my partner had eggplant caprice flatbread. I had a bite of hers which I absolutely enjoyed, eggplant had a nice crisp to it which really made it enjoyable. The short rib tacos... holy crap! Mind blown. I did not expect such great flavor in such a small bite. Everything about the tacos packed a punch. I would much rather have had six tacos and no chips and salsa. As for the service, this is where I got frustrated and my cash tip hopefully reconcile with my server. We dined on the rooftop which was completely empty minus a couple at the bar. We seated and ordered our beverages. I did not get my lime with my lemon water. After we ordered our meals, and received them, a server never came back to check in with us. I wasn't a big fan of her attitud either. It started to get busy I noticed that the host kept seating everyone around us when there was an entire floor to sit people at. Not sure if they're trying to keep people in one specific area but for how slow it was they certainly could've given everyone more privacy. I'm pretty sure the couple that was seated next to us got up and left for that reason. Cannot say I will not be back but who knows when I'll be traveling through again.

I noticed AFTER we ordered that there was a cocktail special that night. Our waitress never mentioned any specials, so I tried to flag her down after I had already ordered a different one not on the list. I mentioned to the hostess what I needed, and I hung out waiting for our waitress at the front. After waiting at least 15 min for her to show up from the back, I was able to ask her to change my drink order. The food here is FABULOUS. We got the housemade Irish soda bread and it was amazing. Hubby got the shepherd's pie and it was delicious. I got the lamb chops over asparagus and mashed potatoes and it was FANTASTIC ! I don't know if our waitress was new or what, but our meals were delivered without silverware. We waited several minutes, then finally flagged down another waitress so that we could eat ! If it wasn't for the poor service, this place could easily be 5 stars due to the fabulous food. Thankfully we got out of there before the live music started, loud music is not our vibe. At the very end of the meal, somehow my original drink order made an appearance (that's what I was afraid of, that she didn't cancel the order). The folks at the table next to us ordered the exact same cocktail, so when the bar tried to give it to us, the waitress told them to give it to the table next to us instead. Geez, we were already paying for our meal at the time. Lol The manager did come out and the end of the meal to ask how things were. I did mention I thought our waitress might be new. I didn't get an answer as to if she was, but I posed it more as a statement than a question.

Always cooked crispy to perfection without having to specify, which is how it should be. No stretchy chicken skin or rubbery meat found here! Each time we visit, we get three orders of wings to split and usually another sauce or two on the side to try. We really enjoy the dry rubs and they don't skimp on the seasoning either. There's always plenty floating in the bottom of the basket for extra dipping. I couldn't go through all the wing flavors we've had since that would take quite some time, but you should definitely try the Chupacabra and squeeze the lime. The sweet potato fries with Chipotle aioli are definitely worth getting too. Just a heads up, this place can get REAL busy during peak times (ie: Friday and Saturday night), so plan your visit accordingly. There are usually 1-2 bartenders who are also acting as servers, so it may take a few extra minutes, but it is well worth the wait. Staff has always been friendly and welcoming. Pretzel Bites - This time they had a honey mustard and regular cheese sauce. The honey mustard was pleasant, but the cheese sauce was thick, and force was really needed to get through to break it. Fiesta Nachos - This had tortilla chips with roasted sweet corn, queso, Pico de Gallo, jalapeno, lime crema, and avocado crema. We also added steak. This was the best item of the night. The steak was tasty and there was a nice blend of ingredients mixed in. Cheesy Macaroni Bites - This was fried macaroni and cheese. I do not remember ranch being served, but the tomato sauce was not bad. They were nicely fried, but they were just okay. Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza - This was alright. The crust was not very flavorful and cooked enough. There needed to be a bit more of a hot honey presence. Boneless Buffalo Wings - The Buffalo sauce powerful, but solid quality and nice cook on the chicken. Bone-In Wings - I had the BBQ, Buffalo, and Asian sesame flavors. The Asian sesame had a little kick, something about these intrigued me. The BBQ was a little sweet, probably due to the Dr Pepper addition? There was a little inconsistency on the wings as some needed to be a little crispier. Buffalo Chicken Dip - This was very cheesy. It needed a little more buffalo sauce, but good chunks of chicken present.
