I was really pleasantly surprised by the Brown Stone. I had a large party trying to find a last minute dinner spot after a nearby restaurant quoted us a wait of 2.5 hours. The Brown Stone came up, and they were able to accommodate us right away. We got to sit outside on their nice patio, which had plenty of space for kids to roam around, a beautiful waterfall feature, and outdoor games like cornhole and giant Jenga. The service was good - we had a large, disorganized, and frankly demanding group, and our waitress handled it all with a smile. The menu was varied and had plenty of options to accommodate different dietary restrictions. The food was fine, but not outstanding. For example the mozzarella sticks were not really warm, so the cheese wasn't gooey like you would want, the chicken in the fajita chicken wrap was dry, and the linguini & clams was heavy on the linguini, light on the clams. If they stepped up the food quality a notch and maybe even focused their menu a bit more, this would've been a great experience! read more

While she admitted it was only her second week on the job, the waitress should have checked up on us after serving the food within a reasonable a amount of time (not an hour later). Especially considering the restaurant was not busy, at all. Speaking of which, the food took incredibly long to bring out for such an idle night. First the good: service, our server was attentive and very courteous. She checked on us several times and gave insight on food choices. The outdoor ambiance was very nice as well. The apps were pretty good as well. My bf and I had the spinach artichoke dip and French onion soup. Pretty tasty. The not so good: the drinks were very mediocre-margarita needs rock salt, not table salt. The LIT tasted like dish soap. Entrees were dismal and lacked flavor. This restaurant has great chill vibes, went with my fiancé & our daughter. The appetizers were delicious. I got chips, guac, & salsa. Chips were good but the salsa & guac tasted like it was from the jar. Anyways, my fiancé got the steak quesadillas & it was delicious. For our entrees, he got the braised short ribs & I got the grilled pork chops. Both meals were very delicious. My portion size was good, but for his could've been better proportioned. I realize everyone's experience, expectations and palate are different but I'm surprised by the negative reviews. We're not regulars but we have dined here often. The servers have consistently been attentive especially our most recent visit. She bartends typically but made our dinner unforgettable when she served Cheryll and I this weekend. The Old Glory burger was prepared perfectly and actually looked like a burger in the ads used by other restaurants where it never comes close to the menu pic My blackened salmon was spicy flavorful and the perfect pink on the inside. Our martinis were filled to the brim so no short pours here, and the manager checked on us allowing us the opportunity to praise his staff their service and our meal. Takeout was underwhelming. Had driven from NC with 4 kids 8 and under and wanted a decent meal at our hotel last. Order French onion soup, chicken fajitas, zucchini fries, rice pudding, and 4 kids meals...the following was missing; French onion soup Sour cream for fajitas Salsa for fajitas Chipotle ranch for zucchini fries Drink and ice cream for ALL kid's meals Rice pudding Returned to the restaurant and was told we didn't order rice pudding since "we haven't had that in a minute"...but there was no dessert on the menu so the only way we would have known about it at all was the woman that took the order over the phone TOLD us that was an option (along with two cappuccino drinks...that's it - turns out they had about 10 different cakes on a dessert tray!) Got the soup, sour cream, and chipotle ranch and "key lime pie" (it was lemon meringue). Kid's meals were still incomplete but had no more energy to return. The food was fine but more time needs to be spent educating the staff on the food choices and and sides. Came here on a Tuesday night. The place was easy to find. I made a reservation for 2, but it ended up being 3. They told me none was needed due to the small group. Parking is very hard to find. Their parking lot was tiny so i parked in the apartment complex next door praying i wouldn't get towed. As i was walking in, 2 parking spots appeared so i moved my car. My parties temps where checked and we where sat at a table in the front. The place has a big patio with a waterfall. It was really chill and nice. We first ordered drink which were AWFULL. The oroange crusher tasted like grinded orange peels and cheap LQ. It was unabrable to drink. The apicy jalapeno margarita wasnt that good, buthe the martina was strong. All the drinks where strong, they dont skimp on the alcohol. We first ordered fried zuccini and spinch artichoke dip. They both came out quickly. The zuccini had no flavor but the batter was good. Beware that if you don't bite thought it fully, the zucchini will fall out the batter and burn your lips. The drip was ok as well. We the ordered the southern chicken sandwhich, penne vodka with added salmon, and the ny steak. The food came out in a decent time. The portions are HUGE. Everything needed salt and pepper. The food was pretty bland but edible. All in all, i would come back for the chill vibez, i love outdoor dining. Other than that, id skip it. read more

I'm so disappointed in the service received at The Brownstone Bar & Grill this evening. Usually they have outstanding service. This night was the exact opposite. I came here this evening to enjoy myself as I always do. The waitress took our order, brung our food and walked away. She walked away for about 30 minutes. My husband waved her down so we can order our main course. This heffa says the kitchen is closed. Isn't that supposed to be the first thing you tell your customers. Like wtf, I'm still fucking hungry. The lack of regard is what's upsetting. read more

I was extremely disappointed with this place. The food was good I got mozzarella stock which is very basic and I got the spinach artichoke dip which was delicious but the drinks were week. I had 3 drinks and they tasted like juice. The waitress took FOREVER to come over to us in the time span of 4 hours we got 3 drinks and that's all. I was so upset because the place has this great outdoor area including couches, a grass area and even string lights which I loved but I just couldn't enjoy it as much with the terrible service and terrible drinks. And on top of everything I found that my plates weren't completely clean (see pictures) I gave this place a 2/5 because I LOVED the outside seated area but I absolutely HATED the drinks and the service. read more

I went here after a bike ride on the Middlesex Greenway. They were able to quickly accommodate a group of seven, so that was nice. I probably should've ordered a beer as I felt kind of deprived going to a bar and not getting one. Next time :p My chicken sandwich was average-- the bread wasn't so great. My biking friends did a little better-- the burgers and salads were good according to their reports. One thing that was a bit awkward was that I switched my fries for a side salad, and it was brought as a preliminary course. So I was just sitting there eating while everybody else was waiting. Thankfully, they didn't wait for me to finish the salad before bringing the entrees, but I felt rude for a good ten minutes or so. Then for some reason at the end, not everybody had finished, but they asked if we wanted to take our leftovers. I think that might have rushed some of my dining companions to finish or forego the last few bites of their meals. This bar is down the street from my house, so I'm glad I finally made it over. read more

OK, this is my 2nd time at a private event at The Brown Stone.. and I must say, based upon those experiences, I'm a fan. I was shocked to see 3 stars, but I understand this is also a restaurant and bar of which I've never visited in that capacity. I love the fact that there is complimentary valet parking--there really is very limited space to park, so that extra service is more than welcome. The place isn't super big at all, but the majority of my time has always been spent outside.. I love the space back there!! There is a full bar, plenty of covered seating.. I love the extra cushioned seating to the left, sorta cabana style.. near the back there is a cute little rock filled waterfall.. And a plus is that there is space for a DJ right near a mini dance "floor"- your girl likes to cut up a rug! Food was tasty, drinks were STRONG.. The food was good despite the fact that we had to wait well over an hour to get our food. We had a party of 7 and some how they forgot two out of the seven orders. It was okay because we ordered enough food that we were able to share. The drinks were good but could've used a little more alcohol. The music was great and so was the crowd. Did a little drinking here with some of my friends as I was in the area. They have a delicious rosé option which of 3 glasses I had. Hey, it was a long week. Bar has some sports vibes to it, not too divey or dirty. They have a decent food menu, those pierogies were delish. Bar tenders were nice and had a good rapport with their regulars.
