Went there everyday for a long time when it was Schreiner's. Menu, prices and atmosphere has changed. The friendliness is gone!

The rarity time off we snuck over here and could not have been more impressed! Very much a unique place in Appleton but takes you to a big city like NYC or Portland. The vibes, decor, overall environment was welcoming. Food was delicious! We got BYO omelette and Cheese risotto cake with braised beef short ribs. Both were cooked to perfection and flavors aplenty. Not overly salted which many places can be. The perfect portion size that we didn't even need to take anything to go. Honestly impressed. Even more cool is they try to source ingredients locally when they can so it's helping our community. Very excited to have found this place and will be back for more! We did try some of their specialty drinks and will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu whenever we get the chance. We came back for a second visit fairly quickly because we kept thinking about the food! We got some breakfast bowls and added protein to it. Again, this place did not disappoint in the slightest! Happy eating!

I visited this mainly breakfast and brunch place and figured they would be open all day since…read morethey're a full bar, but it turns out they only open late on wednsdays. They're located in an old building along the main street in downtown. For lunch, they seemed to have a short list of items...and not really catering to a red meat eater like me. I picked the chicken pesto sandwich since I normally eat chicken sandwiches for lunch and opted for the house potatoes. Our waitress was very loopy and loud add seemed overly happy about her job. My colleague thinks she was yelling at us whem she spoke, but I believe that is just how some people talk. My chicken sandwich was good...but the chicken breast seemed like a machine formed patty and it was small. I was expecting something a little fresher, like a whole grilled chicken breast for the price. Instead, this seemed like a pre-made patty from a vendor they just heated up in an oven. The house potatoes were simple and pretty good though. They add cheese and herbs and spices to these to amp them up. I can't really speak for the breakfast or cocktail program, but their music was pretty good.

The menu features classic breakfast favorites, with generous portions and solid quality. The French toast was good, although it wasn't the traditional brioche-style French toast I prefer. The scrambled eggs, however, absolutely hit the spot. Service was great, the ambiance was welcoming, and I really had no complaints. I didn't have enough time to explore more of the menu, but I'd definitely come back to try some of their other breakfast options. Great food, great service, and a local favorite--definitely worth checking out!

There is a hostess stand and an area to sit while you wait for a table (it was about a 10 minute wait for a table). Service: They delivered the food and refilled coffee and waters promptly. Food: They can't accommodate any custom requests. I asked for extra crispy bacon on my eggs benedict and they said they would see what they could do. It was really soggy and chewy so I couldn't eat it (texture issue). Do not order the eggs benedict, three of us at the table ordered different variations of this dish and were all disappointed (zero texture, extra soggy, no flavor, too much hollandaise sauce). Do not order the eggs benedict on the potato pancakes if you are hungry, the potato pancakes were as thin as a dime and the size of my hand. I left hungry and went home to eat. The one person who didn't order the eggs benedict loved their food. The rest of the food that was coming out looked great, I think we just ordered the wrong dishes. We'll give this place a try again in the future to try something else off the menu.

They were extremely friendly and accommodating and had no problem getting all of us taken care of. I kept it pretty simple and got a burger and a beer. The burger was really good and everything came out well, especially considering how many of us there were. What really stood out though was the service. One person in our group is extremely picky about how she likes her steak cooked and ended up sending it back three times. Each time they were friendly about it and genuinely seemed more concerned with getting it right for her than being annoyed about having to remake it again. For us to come in with 25 people on such short notice and still have everyone be so friendly and accommodating was really appreciated. They handled our group incredibly well and never made us feel like an inconvenience. Definitely a 5-star experience and somewhere I would come back to.

It was a Trio Diavolo, a trio of protein with squid pasta, and a red sauce. I didn't understand that the proteins were diced bits that were stirred into the red sauce pasta. I actually thought the protein was separate from a side of pasta. It disappointed me because I generally dislike seafood in red sauce, but honestly, that wasn't their fault so I still gave them a high rating. Service was friendly and playful. Pretty efficient and seemed to like their job. It is a beautiful restaurant with a pretty amazing view, even if the water is at very sad low levels. Maybe this is natural, I've never been here before. All of the wildlife/birds really enhanced the experience. Flocks of seagulls (not the band), and surprisingly large number of pelicans were wonderful to watch. You can see the riverfront exterior and distant bridge in my standard and 360° photos. ACOCA Cafe & Roastery -- Apparently Appleton got hipster while I was gone…read more Came back to my old stomping grounds for HS reunion week and somehow ended up having one of the most interesting breakfasts of the trip. ACOCA immediately gives off that independent coffeehouse/artsy/creative energy you don't necessarily expect when you're remembering the Appleton of your younger days. We all ordered the Bagels & Lox with salad, and I'm not gonna lie ~ that plate looked damn good. Fresh lox, colorful veggies, pickled onions, greens and an everything bagel. Add some quality coffee and you've got yourself a pretty solid morning. The space was spotless, the service was friendly, the drinks were good and the atmosphere was genuinely cool. But let's talk $$$. This was the priciest morning meal we had in Appleton, and one person in our group felt the price was a little high considering you have to put the sandwich together yourself, and only one of us was given a small ramekin of salad dressing accompanying our meal. Also we wish the bagel was slightly toasted instead of just a sliced everthing bagel. Still, I'd rather pay a little more occasionally for a place with personality than eat somewhere completely forgettable. ACOCA definitely has personality. Would I return? Absolutely!!! This is more my vibe for morning eats & cold/hot brew (Coffee/tea) that is Brews. Views. Food. Sometimes the journey takes you somewhere that doesn't involve beer.

The blueberry muffin is full of blueberries, super moist and delicious. The vanilla latte is spot on perfectly made. If you're in the area, I highly recommend coming over here.

I Came Back to Appleton... Wisconsin Immediately Fed Me…read more There are many ways to kick off an HS Reunion weekend. Apparently, the correct Wisconsin way is cheese curds, a soft pretzel, beer cheese, mustard, and craft beer. One of my host~family sisters and longtime friends brought me to Stone Arch Brewpub shortly after I touched down in Appleton, and this was exactly the kind of welcome~back I needed. Let's talk about those cheese curds. Pillowy. Soft. Tender. Ridiculously good. I don't say this lightly, but these may be some of the best cheese curds I've ever eaten. Then came the pretzel~super buttery and incredibly soft~with Wisconsin beer cheese and mustard for dipping. At that point, the reunion could have ended and I would've considered the trip successful. But we weren't done. We worked our way through an assortment of craft beers spanning Hazy IPAs, West Coast IPAs, Sours and Gose~style beers. The atmosphere was cool, the service was great, and the combination of food, beer and catching up with an old friend made this feel like the perfect beginning to my return to Appleton. Sometimes the best travel experiences aren't about finding the newest or trendiest place. Sometimes it's about sitting down with someone who knows you, sharing some great food and beer, and realizing some things really do feel like coming home. Stone Arch was a damn good way to start the reunion. Would absolutely return.
