Nice place! We went for dinner and were surprised it wasn't super packed...the night before every place in town was over loaded. This evening wasn't bad. No wait at all. We ordered a bison burger to split with fries and drinks. They had no problem with us sharing these large portions. The food was tasty as well. The location was pretty close to our hotel, so we just crossed the street and walked to it. Our server was very nice and attentive. Cost-wise, the meal is on par with everyone else in town. They do not serve dessert at all. I was hoping for something like a cobbler or any sort of ice cream, but no luck. The server did recommend The City Creamery down about a block or two. Worst food I've ever had in my life. We read the reviews, and I saw the review about them messing up chicken tenders. Piecing together that this is a tourist trap town on the outskirts of YNP, I lowered my expectations to like 5/10. Believe me, this is worse than mid. We were famished driving out of Yellowstone after a long day of sightseeing, as most of this place's victims probably are. I grimly perused the menu, and ordered a burger and fries because surelllyyyyyy... they can make a 5/10 burger?! My standards were so low! The bread on the burgers was soggy and gross, the burger wasn't seared at all, and the fries were burnt. Our friend ordered steak: the steak was bright pink through and through and also not even seared... how do you mess up this badly? Do they have a grill back there?? I've cooked steak way better myself on a skillet for way cheaper. A bowl of onion rings with no dipping sauce. Salads with tomatoes sliced round- not diced. I had never seen that before in my life. Other friend got a pizza. She said it was okay, but looking at it I had my doubts. I'll admit I didn't try it because it looked like day old frozen pizza. Mind you if the total bill had been $75, then whatever we were hungry, it's a tourist trap-- No. The total for the food was $148. For 4 people. No drinks at all, just water. I'm so appalled and embarrassed because there were lots of international visitors here for Yellowstone. Probably more than usual if some stopped here during a US visit for the World Cup. They probably come here and believe this abomination is representative of American food. Shameful. I normally wouldn't bring up something like ambiance, but since this place has the audacity to charge nice restaurant prices for food so disgusting I wouldn't even feed it to a dog, the music sucks too. It was the most cliche 70s American bar playlist ever. I personally enjoy that kind of music, but here it feels like rubbing salt in a wound. Positives: Server was nice, poor guy. The French onion soup was actually nice and up to par, but French onion soup is not enough to redeem a place, especially when this place is your first stop in civilization and you're ready to chow down. Next night we skipped West Yellowstone and opted for the gas station by our Airbnb. The hours-old chicken sandwich behind glass was Michelin star compared to this. read more

The squeeze and I shared the pulled pork samminch with onion rings on the side. It also comes with slaw. I ordered a cup of bison chili as well. The slaw was white cabbage that had a hint of horseradish bite. The chili was good, had a hint of heat. The pulled pork lacked its own flavor profile. The BBQ sauce made it enjoyable. We were in town and loved the ambiance of this place. Irene ordered bison chili and a salad and I went for a bowl of bison chili also. I saw hand cut fries on the menu and ordered those as a side. They brought an order to our table, but it was actually for another table, and I spied that the fries were prepared horribly. That dark brown color that comes from not knowing how to remove the excess starch, having the wrong fry oil temperature, etc., etc.. These were really really bad looking, brown fries. And so I quickly said "oh let me cancel my order of fries" ( because I knew I wouldn't be eating these) and they said "oh your fries are already in the fryer. We cannot cancel them"; so I said "OK. Fine bring them". And then I didn't touch them, but I just planned to pay for them. I'm going to show you photos from my home of the way I make fries. You see, I lived in Holland for several years and they take their potatoes very seriously over there and I became addicted to fries that were golden in color and not burned. So they sat uneaten. But when our real waitress came around to ask how everything was, I told her that the fries were burned and she kindly removed them and did not charge for them. So five stars for service. The chili was good. Profound cumin flavor. Several types of beans. But. If you don't like cumin, this is not for you. It's essentially a cumin stew. read more

It was right next to our hotel. My family got salads and my dad got a pretty good Bison Burger. I got the French onion soup and it was bomb. The pub salad was so good, including the dressing that was fire. My dad's fries were perfectly fresh and cooked. We all shared artichoke dip with toasted bread and my dad and I chose pretty good beer. It was overall a great place to eat at so I'll definitely be coming back here one day. My wife and I had no issue with the drinks and food, but the service was a miss. We were placed in an odd table in the corner that seemed like we were on display. The server had a hard time understanding English and we kept having to repeat our order. This culminated in me ordering the "beyond burger" (which is what the "Vegan burger" on the menu said the patty was), and ending up with a bison burger that I didn't realize was bison until halfway through. Pretty much skip the fish n chips and get a burger. I tried the pepper burger. Very very good. My BIL tried the bbq chicken Hawaiian pizza and enjoyed that a lot. My sister tried the French onion soup. I kinda wish I'd tried that. It looked very fresh and she loved it. We also got couple appetizers. We tried the spinach artichoke dip and the jalapeño wontons. The apps were definitely a great choice! Our service was great. But the atmosphere definitely gives off a bit more of a bros bar. Nothing wrong with that at all. But it's definitely a pub. We ate here for a late lunch while visiting Yellowstone. We were seated immediately by the hostess, but it took at least 10 minutes for a waitress to come by and great us. The food was excellent, but the service was a miss, by no fault of the waitress herself, but I believe they are severely understaffed. I think there were only two wait staff for a packed restaurant. The Slippery Otter was around the corner from where we were staying, and after a lot of hiking we wanted something simple and easy. We both were happy with our dinners, I had a 1/3 pound burger with jalapeños and pepper Jack cheese that was very good. My wife liked her chicken sandwich. We both loved the hand cut fries. This place also has a large beer menu with lots of local beers from Montana and Wyoming. My wife had a huckleberry here that I liked. She couldn't taste the berry, but I could.
