Treatment was requested through my apartment maintenance portal. I have video evidence from my security cameras that the technician did no work at all yet he left a tag saying my unit was treated. Even worse, my apartment maintenance staff was with them. Then the leasing office told me that because they couldn't find the source of the mites, they didn't treat it. IT'S THEIR JOB TO FIND THE SOURCE!! Completely unacceptable judgement call. I did my own investigation today and found the source of the moisture mites, caused by poorly sealed caulking. It took only a few minutes and I figured it out. I'm not a professional was able to figure it out. So not only did they not investigate, they didn't treat, and then they lied about the work done. It seems this is a recurring pattern in the reviews here. I will be reporting them to my leasing office and if it's not resolved I will report them to the BBB. Do your jobs. read more

They're not bad for pest control as we use them commercially. Customer service is prompt and understanding. The spray is quick, probably 10 minutes max to spray down the area, which can be on the pricier side. However, the treatment works since we don't have any living roaches or bugs. read more

My apartment complex has a contract with them to come out every Wednesday. I put my name on the list for today because I have a GNAT problem and also a bunch of roaches come around out of nowhere. I'm using DIY products that are better for the planet, a ton of a variety of vinegars, banking soda, etc. So the guy who was supposed to come today filled out the report that he did but I work from home today and I'm here to tell you that he did not come. I called the office and the said they can't deal with me since their contract is with the apartment complex. So I told her that I understood but my online reviews are directly from me. I gave this company a 1 star based on the fact that they charged me twice, not only did they do this, but they did it WITHOUT me authorizing any automatic payments. Which means they stored my card information without my knowledge. I cancelled their services immediately after only 3 months. Sooooooo frustrated! Do not sign up with this company. They make you sign an annual contract. The first time someone came out to my house. He made me uncomfortable by talking about his personal life during his time in my house and for 15 minutes after the service was done. I kept telling him "thank you and have a great day", but then he countinued sharing about his personal life. I was so uncomfortable. I called bug master and told them that I did not want to be using their service after this experience. They told me I would have to pay the first three months and then I could be out of the contract. I said fine. That was six months ago and they have continued to charge my account and remind me that I signed an annual contract. They have not been out once since the first time. I have had my Apartment Complex's serviced by Bug Master for several years. Some ups and downs, but have mostly received good service until now. I have had several missed appointments resulting in residents being notified for treatements they never received. I've noticed a turn over in Technicians and have been contacted by some of my previous Technicians who have asked for me to transfer my accounts to them. I am awaiting a call back from the Operations Manager and will be giving them another chance to get back on track. read more

I'm obligated to pay for pest control services at my apartment complex and see no results. I've been at the same complex for 4 years and go through atleast 2 - 4 cans of Raid or more a month. Bummed on this place. The service men were super nice - - but we were given misinformation about what to do before and after the treatment - - for fleas! The document they sent via email was the most easily missed super important piece of the information I can imagine. Disappointing response from manager. Ugh. My experience has been much like the review Margaret originally left below. After several "treatments" where my mosquito traps were clearly not serviced I questioned whether the technician ever got out of his car and stepped foot on my lawn. I reviewed the security video of The Bug Master's arrival at my residence. Upon doing so I confirmed that the technician pulled up to my house, sat in his car for several minutes and then drove off. Much to my surprise, I then received a bill for services rendered. When I raised the issue with The Bug Master by sending the video they were quick to reverse the charge and send another technician to my house to complete the original treatment. Unfortunately, the story does not end there. On the next regularly scheduled treatment they sent the first technician back to my house. When I called to ask why this person was still employed with The Bug Master and why they would send him back to my house the response I got was of bewilderment that I would not want this person at my house, or better yet, in my house. Like the time before, the invoice states that services were performed (i.e. knocking down wasp nests) a walk of the perimeter following the treatment shows no less than three wasp nest still remain in plain view. I was told last week that I would have a response to my complaint but as of this week the only thing I have received from The Bug Master is a request to pay their invoice. While looking for a new pest service I saw Margaret's review regarding a similar experience. If your pest problem is not going away you might look to see if the technician is actually doing what he says he is. Chances are good that you are paying for the same "treatment" that I was getting. read more

I ordered a termite treatment of the my rental property after receiving a detailed treatment plan that included trenching and and liquid treatment of the house perimeter including drilling through the deck to reach the ground underneath. The technician Andy F came over to treat the house without reading the actual plan and ended up only spraying at the back yard and sent me an $600 bill. After I called the office to complain , Andy called me back very quickly and saidhe already went back to re-do the whole treatment including drilling the holes (when my tenant was not at home). After my tenant went home to check, It was apparent no holes were ever drilled on the deck !!!! Bug Master has completely lost my trust as a customer. I don't know if any of the work actually happened after finding about the technician's outright lie! To me , billing a customer for a service of a certain scope and lying to them about what they actually delivered is a business fraud. The online scheduling is not what it appears. Even after you confirm what date/time you'd like, and wait two days for the technician to phone, he/she has no knowledge of the time you've already set up online which turns out to be a complete waste of time. You would likely be better served by going to a more reliable/national provider like Orkin or Terminix. That's what we ended up doing. (See follow Up) Follow Up: Jesse the owner seemed very interested in resolving this. Which, is of course, the most any business owner can do - and for that we commend the folks at Bug Master. First of all, I trust them. I'm comfortable with Jesse walking around my home, I believe what he tells me and I trust in their product. They are fairly priced and professional. Managing a restaurant and writing a review of a pest control company is a bit like a politician reviewing an escort service--people might get a bad impression. The fact is, bugs are often a fact of life in the restaurant business, and it makes sense to implement an ongoing eradication and control program to complement cleanliness and safe food storage practices. A while back, when two buildings in our block of attached row-structures were undergoing extensive renovation, a large colony of crawling things that used to live undisturbed in the walls or floors of those places set out looking for a new home. Some of them found us. For the first time in 9 years we had a bug problem--to be specific, German Roaches. We had long ago engaged a large nationally advertised firm for monthly treatments, and they cranked it up a notch, doing a couple of super fumigation sorties, using pest control weapons of mass bugstruction, but it did not work. The little suckers kept showing up. We dumped them and signed on with The Bug Master. Tim, our Pest Control Consultant arrived and did a THOROUGH inspection of the premise, and its attached buildings. He examined our secured food storage, cleaning products, closet spaces and of course the kitchen. After a complete review, he recommended and we implemented an intensive treatment program and periodic followups. The treatments are done after hours and with zero disruption to business. The products used are safe and effective and toxic only to critters. The treatment has been totally invisible. Like the bugs. The result? No bugs. Not a one since about 3 days after the first treatment. Bugs now cross the street rather than walk near our building. Bug Master has put some kind of anti-bug force field in place I think. Whether you are a commercial or a residential customer with pest issues, give these guys a call. They are fast, clean, safe and effective, and reasonably priced. I've been using The Bug Master for at least 5 years in two different homes-using both the green service and traditional services. I am always impressed with their technician, John, who is professional, knowledgeable, courteous and on-time. The best part is NO BUGS!!! I live in a very old pier and beam house in Central Austin and am always surprised that I RARELY see any bugs. I know the service I pay for includes both inside pest control and around the house outside (which is extensive and works well-we've crawled under the house many times and found nothing scary under there!). Bugmaster does a quarterly service where they send me emails to let me know I'm on their schedule and confirm appointments. They warrant their work and will come out more often if I see a spider in the house. Previously, I tried at least three other pest control companies--all left me an unsatisfied customer. read more

My experience with The Bug Master has been nothing short of a nightmare. I paid $250 for roach treatment. After the initial treatment for German roaches and two follow-ups, the problem persists. When they finally returned my calls, I spoke to a small, confrontational man named Karl about this. He was nothing but rude, patronizing and unprofessional. He spent fifteen minutes pettily arguing semantics with me, babbling about his "years and years and years of experience" and knowledge while trying to shift the blame to me. His favorite line was, "why should we come out there for free?" - bold, considering the job was never done correctly or finished in the first place. When I chose to use them, my understanding was that the initial service and followup would solve the problem. After round two didn't work, they said they would re-evaluate their treatment to see "where we go from here." They didn't, and instead used the same chemical that didn't work in the first place again. At this point, their guarantee expired, as it nonsensically expires 30 days from the FIRST treatment (because that makes sense) Conveniently, they said to wait fourteen days between services, to see if it worked or not - just enough time for that warranty to expire. At this point, all I can do is report them to the BBB and FTC. Considering the amount of negative reviews on Yelp and Google, I imagine they are content in being a company with no ethics; one that takes zero pride in their work. As long as they get paid, who cares what kind of a job they do? There are dozens of exterminators in the Austin area - throw a dart at a phone book and you'll hit a better one. Using their service is the financial equivalent of setting fire to money. 9/13/2019 RESPONSE/UPDATE Jesse, your company came out a few days after the warrantee, and had I not have been told that I should wait 14 days between sprayings to see if it worked, I would have had your serviceman back before that (oh and had my first followup appointment not been cancelled and rescheduled without notice...) I don't consider this a courtesy, but making good on a guarantee for services your company was paid for. I'm sorry you have so little regard for your company's reputation that you aren't willing to do the correct thing and remedy the problem. But don't say you "want to help me", when in actuality, you want to be paid once again for services that were poorly and incorrectly done in the first place. read more

It's been a rough road trying to get this company to take care of our problem. Unfortunately this is the company my condos decided to use to try to remove roof rats from our attic. Since the beginning, they have missed apts now three times. They make the apt and then just don't show up! Call 2 hours later to move my apt from 8 am Monday to 8 am Friday. Clearly they don't care about showing up when they say they will, nor do they care if they take care of the problem in a reasonable amount of time. Go to J&J pest control. I can highly recommend you NOT using Bugmasters BUT instead J&J is ALWAYS on time and ALWAYS does great work. read more

What a relief it was to have Carl come in and do an inspection in my house. This was the second inspection I had done because the first one I had done by another company, left me unsatisfied due to the lack of information (he said umm in every sentence) and rushed service (he checked two beds). Carl was on time and very thorough. I called for a bedbug inspection and he he checked all four bedrooms down to my girls bunk bed frame all the way down to the couches downstairs! I mentioned a mosquito problem so he went outside and noticed some wasp nests outside my deck and knocked them down for the safety of my 3 girls! Now that is service above and beyond. My technician Paul is always awesome and has always tried to do whats best for the control of ants at my house. i have been having ANT treatments that are very pricey for 9 months now with NO relief. The last few months the office says a "field manager" will come out and help Paul assess the situation.Has not happened yet. At what point do I give up on them? If not now, it will be real soon. I can get the same results taking care of it on my own. Money down the drain.........ALOT OF MONEY, I'm not talking $40 a month way more, and the initial treatment was crazy!!!!! read more

They used to provide good customer service. Now they change the technician on you CONSTANTLY and tell you over the phone that they are going to remedy the situation only to get a different tech again. Lately the guy shows up late and only does the outside meanwhile charging you full price. He is showing up whenever he feels like it. I'm about done w these people. After many years w them whoever is running the company is doing a dismal job of listening to customers. Update: I believe they are trying to improve on their service. My hunch is they underwent new management and things changed. My very experienced and pleasant technician left and hence I got a parade of newer less experienced techs. I like the technician I have now. He is growing into the job. He is polite and has been punctual. I think the office staff is making an effort too. Don't bother! Week 1 I called regarding fleas on my patio, I call back same week to schedule, My 'tech' had left due to a family emergency. OK, things happen. Now I start new with 'tech' Johnny, We agree to meet out my house today at Noon. I jump through hoops to leave early I get home and wait...no calls, texts, emails, I call BugMaster, finally am able to speak with Johnny, and he forgot me. He can come back out sometime. Funny, while holding, their recording says they will never inconvenience you. Uh-huh. Except hiring people that will forget they have an appointment with you. We are a commercial client for about a year now and I have requested to know in advance when our scheduled date is - OR a call anytime that month prior to the schedule date would suffice, however, I have not been given that info as of yet, and it makes it a little hard to prepare. After using them for almost a year, I fired them because we had just as many bugs as ever. We had scorpions, spiders, almost everything we had before we called them, although, in all honesty, we probably had fewer of them. Still!... We expected them to get rid of the bugs, and they didn't. They don't actually look at your house to see where the problems are - they just use the broad brush attempt and spray everywhere and hope that takes care of it. I wanted to clarify that the disoriented bugs that make it past the perimeter of termidor appear drunk/slow on the rare occasions I see them and the rare occasion that they are still alive. I have a HUGE tree over my house and once they treated I have only seen 4 tree roaches in the span of almost 3 years, impressive. read more
