I don't normally leave reviews, but as someone who lived in Texas for the better part of a decade I've been looking for good Texas BBQ up here and been disappointed with places that say they are Texas BBQ. Starting with the smells outside I figured we were on the right track. Shiner on tap was also a great indicator! We got the Sampler platter and I was happy that they had the holy trinity on there. Many places up here miss one of the three and still call themselves Texas BBQ. Let's start with the good. Ribs were outstanding, good pull to them with great flavor. The turkey was good as well with an excellent pepper flavor. The fatty brisket had great flavor and good smoke penetration, although the lean was lacking flavor and I think they cut their slices just a tad thick. The sausage had a nice snap and a good spice to it, and I found the leftovers the next day were even better. Not to turn negative, but I did think there were some opportunities for improvement. The pulled pork my son had was lacking flavor and was really dry. The beans were ok but not great. The cornbread was great however! This will be my go to spot when I'm being lazy and not making my own BBQ. If you are from Texas, this place isn't Terry Blacks, or Pecan Lodge, or Goldie's, but it's about the same as a Rudy's, and I like me some Rudy's!

The food was amazing, including the sides. My grandmother is from Mississippi & the collard greens here are authentic & full of flavor. The pork rib sandwich was a perfect balance of sweet, salty & a slight kick. The people were very nice when I picked up my order. The restaurant itself was very clean, orderly & the vibes were nice in there. Will definitely be back.

Came here around 8pm Saturday night with the kids. We got a platter that included ribs, brisket, pastrami, and sausage. I really enjoyed all the meat partially the brisket and ribs . They had a good smokey flavor. Although the meat is the main reason you go to a bbq place, the star of the dinner was the brussel sprouts! They were in a sweet Asian like sauce , so tasty! The only reason I am knocking off a star is because of the dining experience itself. It was difficult to grab a seat. With two young kids in tow, and a platter of food we had to stand for a while before enough room became available for us to sit down and eat. It would have been nice if someone from the staff was coordinating and cleaning off tables. Aside from this, definitely would love to get this place again. Maybe we will do pickup instead of dine in.

this is a really nice restaurant looking inside. I like the ambience and the bar. I thought I was gonna have a great experience. Unfortunately, the food was not up to the level of quality for the price that they charged especially, the brisket. On top of that, the staff was not the best not unfriendly but not exactly welcoming. I probably won't be back. YMMV

It was ok. Had the pastrami sandwich, but found it to be very dry. Also, never offered to put on condiments or cheese. And considering they charge for a single sandwich as much as other places charge for a meal figured it'd be larger. The sides were great though. Especially the brussel sprouts. Really great char and flavor.

Stopped by this spot on a friend's recommendation, and boy, are we glad we did! To really dive into the full experience, we went all out and ordered a variety of dishes. Everything was absolutely delicious, and since the meats are sold by weight, it's perfect for trying a little bit of everything. We ordered the ribs, pastrami, smoked wings (with sweet chili and Alabama white sauce), mac and cheese, and Brussels sprouts. My favorites of the day were definitely the ribs and the Brussels sprouts. The ribs were a bit fattier than I typically prefer, but they were still excellent--no need for extra BBQ sauce! And let me tell you, the wings were huge--definitely not your average wing size! Sitting here, enjoying our BBQ, listening to country music, and watching college football, this place brought me right back to a Texas BBQ spot. Highly recommend for anyone in the area looking to get their BBQ fix!

Fresh-brewed Sweet tea is a hard thing to come by in the Midwest. This Bama boy's solution is to message BBQ joints about their sweet tea solution. Station One messaged me promptly and told me that they had it from a dispenser. Yeah the Gold Peak one that serves that abomination of sweet tea. But they allowed me to bring my own sweet tea so that made my day along with the delicious que they serve. Station One received that name because it looks like it was an old fire station. Someone better call 911 for this Texas Style BBQ! I went up to the counter and ordered 1/4 of brisket, pulled pork, and pastrami. Pastrami was a new one for me at a BBQ joint so I had to try it. I also had one rib added to my tray. The sides are a la carte and I chose tater tot casserole and Mac and cheese. All the meats were fantastic! I would rank them from best to worst: rib, pulled pork, brisket, pastrami. I loved the rib as it was meaty and had a sweet glaze to it. Pulled pork and brisket were solid. I was a little disappointed in the pastrami but my wife loved it. The tater tot casserole was amazing! Think of a hashbrown casserole with thick, crunchy pieces of hashbrown and you have the tater tot casserole. The mac and cheese was good but I started thinking I needed something else than cheese because of the tater tot casserole. There are 3 sauces. Spicy is a Texas Style sauce that is made with pepper. Bourbon Peach is very sweet. Texas Gold is a mild, mustard style sauce. I can't wait to go back and eat at Station One again!

    Amazing food!

Came here on the Tuesday after Memorial Day around lunch time as I was passing by the Plainfield area. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the meats. Pictures don't really do this place justice. It is better than it looks! I like how they allow the meats to be ordered by the 1/4 pound so you can try a wider variety. Meats are on the saltier side, the vinegar coleslaw and green beans (not pictured) were cooked to perfection. I would recommend if in the area!

Service was a little off when I visited because they were changing shifts. They apologized but it was awkward. They only do large family deals otherwise everything is ordered individually. The small sides for $4 seems overpriced to me. Mac and cheese - creamy and delicious with breadcrumbs on top Pork- good as always. The 1/2 lb split with my husband was perfect Sauce- the bourbon peach is absolutely delicious Tater tot casserole - cheesy and delightful

Dark beadboard walls, copper ceiling tiles, round orb lighting, and upstairs a cavernous space with soaring ceilings anchored by a stunning skylight. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful dining rooms in the area. Date night approved. One gripe before we get to the good stuff: if you have pages and pages of creative cocktails and an extensive wine list, your two mocktail options deserve the same love. We don't drink and the options were fine but very sour and clearly an afterthought. Do better for the sober and sober curious crowd. Now the food. The burrata was creamy, rich, and gorgeous sitting in olive oil topped with chimichurri and grilled bread. Needed more balsamic to bring the acid balance home, but honestly still one of the better burratas I've had locally. The stuffed pork with gouda, chimichurri, and saffron potato wedges was a genuinely smart plate. The saffron wedges were a surprise standout, bringing a clean earthiness that cut through the richness beautifully. A touch heavy on the gouda and the whole dish woke up considerably with a little extra salt, but the bones of it are excellent. The churrasco hanger steak told the same story. Well cooked, flavorful, chimichurri doing its job. The curly fries were the one shrug of the night. Not bad, just boring next to everything else on offer. Mike our server closed the deal by steering us toward the caramel skillet cookie and honestly, bless him for it. Warm, salty, sweet, rich, topped with cold vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. It is everything a skillet cookie should be and we scraped the pan. We are already planning the return visit and bringing friends. Barrel & Vine is an unexpected dining experience that Plainfield is lucky to have.

O.M.B. (ONE MAGNIFICENT BURGER)…read more Their name doesn't say it, but Next Whiskey Bar serves an incredible burger. I know my way around a sandwich, and I have to say the offerings at NWB in downtown Plainfield are some of the best around. Look for the blue & white house on Lockport St, and you'll know you've found it. NWB doesn't take reservations, however you can join an online waitlist. Park on the street or in a small lot adjacent to the building. The beer selection is fantastic, a pint ($8) never disappoints although I usually lean towards a Hefeweizen or pilsner with my meal. Yeah yeah, I know this is a WHISKEY bar, but yours truly doesn't do the brown liquor.....bad experience with Jägermeister as a kid. For appetizers, the cheese curds ($14) are pricey but oh-so-worth it. They come with a cilantro aioli and we get an order of these every single visit. The cauliflower popcorn ($11) is also a very worthy choice for starters; roasted and seasoned cauliflower florets are served with a sumptuous clarified butter. Their house NWB Burger ($16.50) is a busy affair, with pork belly, bbq sauce, onion straws and cheese curds on a pretzel bun. The Big Jer ($15.25) is a much simpler yet equally stellar burger with 2x4oz patties, lettuce, tomato, and Merkt's cheddar spread served with a pickle spear. I recently tried the Suribachi ($15.50) and it blew my mind. A 1/2lb patty is lightly fried in tempura batter, then topped with pepperjack cheese, wasabi coleslaw and sriracha on a brioche bun. Next time, I'm giving the El Toro a shot (pickled habaneros, corn guac). My wife loves the pork belly mac ($16), a good portion of cheesy cavatappi pasta with crispy pork belly. Their Cubano ($15) is solid and the Taylor Street panini ($15) is a tasty Italian grinder, with prosciutto, salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato and olive spread on focaccia bread. NWB's homemade chips are amazing, I always opt for them instead of fries (which are also great). Bread = 5+ Circuses = 4.5 Service has been generally fine, but last visit it took a long time for our server to come by initially. The inside of this converted house is somewhat cramped so if the weather allows, I suggest dining 'al fresco'. Their outdoor patio definitely passes the vibe check. I honestly can't decide whose doughnuts are better, Empire in Naperville or Next Whiskey Bar's. It might be a tie! In any case, we ALWAYS end a meal here with the fried doughnuts ($11) that come with a heavenly whiskey caramel sauce for dipping. * TL;DR * In my mind, NWB stands for "Nirvana, With Burgers". Everything we've gotten here has exceeded expectations. Cheese curds, cauliflower popcorn, pork belly pasta, doughnuts and of course burgers all stand out. I would get the Suribachi again in a HEARTBEAT. The ambiance is ideal for date night and small groups, and with a small dining area that fills up fast, come early or expect a wait. Next Whiskey Bar is one of my favorite restaurants in the western suburbs, I highly recommend them.

I've personally been here probably over 50 times (no joke) since I've moved to Plainfield 2 yrs ago. Everything I've ever had was spot on great food. 1st bad experience: They added a few new items to the menu which I was super excited about. I had the carne asada. I was skeptical at first because, I mean this isn't a traditional Mexican restaurant but I thought.....why not.....everything else has always been super good. As you can see the presentation was outstanding!!!! I was super pumped especially because I ordered a Kentucky Mule (which was fabulous by the way). I started eating the steak & it weirdly didn't have a flavor....I kept eating & toward the middle end of eating it....it tasted sour.....I thought it was me.....I had a beer & then drinking the Mule.....but when i had the last 2 bites it tasted moldy. I got worried & didn't say anything until i checked out. There were 2 lady's tending the tables & bar. I told the nice lady with the glasses as I was checking out about my experience & told her as a suggestion to check the meat. I wasn't expecting her to discount my plate nor did I ask for a discount. She was super super nice about it. She told me I should have said something about it....but i explained to her that i thought it was just me because i was soo hungry & eating fast & drinking the mule....that i didn't notice till the end. KUDOS to the waitress with the glasses!!! Thank you for being kind! I will definitely be back per usual to this spot. I think maybe because its a new item its not moving to fast?....& it was already past due?....I dunno but I just wanted to share with you my experience. Suggestion to all that cook carne asada (skirt steak): for it to be spot on with the seasoning....use Adobo....but it needs to be the Criolla brand. A lot of places use Goya Adobo but thats pure salt with no taste. Criolla Adobo is good on all meats & gives it a great taste. If you're gonna grill it.....season with Adobo & put in a zip lock bag over night with vinegar.....& oh emm geee.....the most tender, flavorful skirt steak!!! I've even left 'em seasoning for 3 days...& thats even better & more tender.
