Hangout spot. Variety of different seating and open large seating spots. Open late. Dark and laid back Drinks and food are decent but nothing magical, highlight is the space and openness for sure

Wanted to like it, sadly not so good. Vegan curry puff filling was fine but not amazing, however the pastry was hard to eat (I could not chew it). My friend got the roti boy which was good and the char sui bun which was not ("tasted like only onion but the bread itself was good"). They implore you to also replace the squeezy condiment bottle in the bathroom with a soap dispenser. We liked the community flyers shelf.

Couldn't find any Starbucks open, so a mí and my boyfriend wanted coffee so we stumbled the cross this place. I enjoyed a piece of sweet bread as well. I'd love the tea here will be visiting again and it's a very Quiet atmosphere to Complete Work.

Your average cafe experience! Ordered a matcha latte and the chickpea pastry - the latte was okay (not very strong matcha flavor) and I thought there was too much filling for the amount of dough in the pastry! But the flavor wasn't bad! Inside was pretty empty when I went (weekday AM), but I could see this being a fun place to grab a drink/pastry and study - lots of seating here!

I really enjoy the community space and the baristas. Obviously, the coffee is creative. and amazing, and the baked goods are worth paring. Whether it's the Vietnamese, coffee or the Dusa de leche. This place has my heart for the best pick me up.

Me and my daughter came here on a Friday afternoon, the ambience was very relaxed and chill. It looks like a haunted Café with medieval times inside, very different, but Adam in which it was his first day was very kind and did a great job servicing us. I would highly recommend just because Adam was a cool dude and the environment is someplace different, I didn't eat just got tea which was pretty good and my daughter got chicken tikka which she loved so five out of five.

Bun, to me, still reminds of the early aughts when they opened or opined on a savory-dominated but sweet adjacent selection of pastries and roti and rolls--oh my! (And an array of caffeine drinks, natch!) Needed to be here tonight for some matcha tea, a cookie and some bop of Monk, Coltrane, Miles and others to calm that antsy feeling in the silence of students at laptops, the thrum of the night city and the occasional street stray jonesing for some change. The service is laid back and on point.

My boyfriend and I came here a little too many times on our short trip to the city (to be fair, it was down the street from our hotel). While it's a touch too dark to feel overwhelming welcoming, the pastries and drinks hold up. The gothic interior was actually charming-- really brought me back to grandma's house, especially with the huge community tables and ancient furniture. One day they were a little understaffed so our drinks took forever, but the other days were fine and we felt the quality maintained. It's not the best coffee/tea/pastries ever, but the vibes absolutely pass the test.

I am only in Baltimore occasionally – how do they make their honey matcha latte? It was delicious.

Can you still study in here during covid?

    Yes you can!

Is there a menu or listing of the buns that are available?

As far as I know, the selection of buns are displayed along with it’s name in a long glass case which runs alongside the cashier leading straight to it :)

Dog friendly???? I saw a pup in one of the pics.

Yes, very dog friendly. That's my pup. Cheers!

Arancini Palermo - Extremely disappointing. It was slightly burnt, and despite being described as containing a beef and pork ragu, I couldn't see or taste any meat. I initially thought we'd been served the Formaggi and even asked the server, who confirmed it was the Palermo after checking with the kitchen. The meat was supposedly very finely minced, but it was undetectable. Overall, the flavor was off. Service: They were nice, but slow and inefficient. When we asked for the check, we waited for about 10 minutes and no one had come. I ended up going to the counter to pay. After I had paid and returned to the table, my wife told me the server was walking around with a check, likely had forgot which table had asked for it. Ambiance: This was the best part. We sat outside, beautiful day. If you want to come to sit down outside on a nice day and have a drink, it would probably be enjoyable.

Once inside, there's a decent amount of space compared to what I expected, so it didn't feel overly crowded. Everything we tried was good, but the standout for me was the crab bagel. That alone is worth ordering again. The pastries were fresh, the coffee paired well with everything, and the overall experience was really enjoyable. I'll definitely be back to work through more of the menu.

However I think I may have gone in with TOO high of expectations because of all the rave reviews. I was expecting to have one of those "wow, this changes everything" pastry moments, and for me, it didn't quite reach that level. Everything we had was good, fresh, and clearly made with care; it just wasn't the most incredible bread or pastry I've ever eaten. That being said, I still think Cafe Dear Leon is probably the best bakery/pastry cafe in Maryland. Honestly, I can't think of another place locally that does it better. The quality is there, the space is bright and inviting, and I'd come back. I just think the hype set my expectations a little higher than what I actually experienced. OH!!! Their coffee though. BEST Ive had in the DMV area!!! Must order :)

Bird in…read moreHand is a really cute cafe, bookstore, which I plan to return to try the coffee and pastries I stopped for their Community Dinner event called Eat with Me. It was a community dinner party with Chef Char. You had a choice of a ticket with or without wine pairing. Me and my friend chose the ticket with wine pairing. The ticket included two glasses of wine. The menu was not printed online so we went in kinda blind on what was served. The first course was a roasted vegetable dish which consisted of broccoli, fingerling potatoes and pears with a Greek yogurt sauce. The second course was chicken thighs with risotto in a tomato sauce and the third course was a granola strudel with pears. There was also an arugula salad with grapefruit segments and parmesan cheese. I can be brutally honest, none of the courses were seasoned well. The first course was cold, the vegetables were wilted and did not mesh well. Was not expecting pears to be with my roasted vegetables. The second course was underwhelming as well. The food did not have any flavor and the dessert was not my favorite at all. I only ate the fruit out of the dessert. The chef did come out and let us know what each course was, however I felt that she really wasn't too personable with the guests. A few of the guests at the table were her friends so she only engaged with them, and of course they hyped her up, however the food was bland and underwhelming and the majority of the guests including myself did not finish their plates. If there is another community dinner, I hope it will be with a different chef in mind As I stated before my review is of the event, not the business as a whole.
