My late grandmother was a superb country cook and her name was Maggie. Good omen! We got there about 11:45 and got a table right away. Our server was Devin and she was terrific. We split the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. The portion that they brought out was gigantic....plenty for two average appetites. What I really liked about it was - it was not over-breaded and it was fork-tender. (in my humble opinion, too many places are giving you a lot more breading that doesn't have meat under it. Yes, it's a first-world problem.) The mashed potatoes were also quite good, along with the cream gravy. I'm not a huge green bean fan, but my wife really liked them. This place has a cool vibe and we plan to return sometime soon. It's one of the top 3 CFS's we've had in Fort Worth / mid-cities.

What was supposed to be nachos was anything but. The only explanation is someone who had never seen nachos tried to recreate them after hearing a rumor from someone at a Lowe's parking lot. The "chips" were not tortilla chips. They were rectangular strips of pale, flimsy material that looked like scraps of drywall film pulled out of a new construction site. An albino drywall experiment that somehow escaped the kitchen and landed on a plate. The entire thing was covered in barbecue sauce, with some mystery white liquid poured over the top. We assume it was supposed to be queso, but it definitely was not queso. Calling it queso feels disrespectful to actual queso. We ate maybe a quarter of it and decided we needed to leave before things got worse. Six hours later, we received an unannounced encore performance in the bathroom. I would avoid this place like a plague outbreak--unless you have an upcoming colonoscopy and want to skip the bowel prep.

The bar location is on the back wall, with lots of seating. Full bar, with a reasonable amount of draft beers, and several good ones along with the normal commercial swill. If it was, well they picked a couple of winners. The serving was more than ample, more then I could eat over the course of the visit. Second time I went back, I was going to make a point to try the onion rings since they looked so good in the pics. As I was looking at the menu I noticed they had a Montecristo sandwich. As I've mentioned before, I have yet to find anything that even remotely comes close to the holy grail of MC sandwiches, the one and only made by Bennigan's. Of course, I ordered it, and the onions rings. I'm happy to say the MC here is the closest I've ever come to find. It was really good, and the jam served with it was also pretty dead on. It was a little nasty like it should be, but not as greasy as it should be, and I enjoyed the hell out of it. The onion rings were really good, even if the batter was flaking off a bit. Anyway, I like the place, wish I could drag myself out more. Been customers here every time I've been, but not as many that should be.
