First time in Houston…read more.. While visiting a friend and just landed we decided to grab lunch here. It just opened she told me, but we both were excited to try this restaurant. It looked gorgeous inside since it was too hot to sit outside. We both ordered a few glasses of wine and a salad. It took awhile for our drinks to arrive. It felt like forever. So I guess I will say service was not the best. Our salads were delish! We both ordered the Chicken & Avocado Salad. A bit on the expensive side. I opted for grits instead of potatoes with my omelet. They served a bowl, not a cup grits, which I could not finish. The grits were really good. The service was great and coffee refills plentiful. The ambience was typical of a a clean, well run family diner. Bathrooms were clean and the restaurant was clean and orderly. We would come back if ever in the area. Prices were reasonable, less than most diners in the North Eastern US. I was so hungry at the time that I forgot to take photos.

You will find that the burgers are not too overly inclusive with a bunch of toppings but include one ingredient that makes it unique enough to make a statement (i.e. bacon, mushrooms jalepanos...This gives HB time and focus to make an oustanding meaty and flavorful patty to showcase their burgers which gives it that homemade burger vibe. Plus the order came out quick! Portion size was generous and worth the price. Very tasty burger that will keep you full the rest of the day. I cannot forget the fries, which came out fresh and hot. A pinch of salt- just how I like them, which was the deciding factor for me to eat at HB versus driving back to training and risk my fries getting cold! I gladly indulged in every single bite of my burger and fries. Plus, I love that they have Pepsi versus Coke beverages. They sell one cup size for fountain drinks. Dining in? free refills! We skipped dessert because honestly none stood out to us. He said their popular dessert is the souffle but they were sold out. Our total before gratuity was about $250 and that included one cocktail. From the moment we entered, we were treated like special guests. The ambiance is rich, but not overdone or stuffy. Simply classic and relaxing. Our booth felt private and unhindered by conversations of nearby diners or wait staff bustling past. Our cocktails were perfect. The calimari we ordered as an appetizer was probably the most tender and delicious either of us have ever had. And when our burgers arrived, I was so happy. It was exactly what I had set my mind on when selecting my birthday dinner experience. The blend of brisket and chuck was absolutely delicious, set atop a perfectly buttered toasted bun, with some crispy onion straws on top. And the fries... oh my! I rarely if ever eat fried food - so clearly this was my big day to completely go off my standard fare, but those fries had the perfect crunch and flavor. Apparently, when my husband made our resv, he told them it was my birthday, so our server brought out a delightful complimentary spiced cake dessert after we were finished eating - for us to share. We ordered several dishes, but the Chilean sea bass was disappointing. It was dry, lacked the buttery texture it's known for, and was quite bland. We also requested a side of hot sauce, but that request was overlooked. To end the meal, we planned to order coffee and toffee instead of dessert. After waiting nearly 30 minutes, we were told the coffee machine had broken. Unfortunately, by then the server seemed eager to wrap things up and didn't really give us the opportunity to consider any other after-meal options. Overall, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and we can see why it's popular, but the food execution and service fell short of our expectations, especially for a business lunch. We hope these issues were just an off day, as we'd like to give it another chance.
