We had such a great experience at Chef's Table Vintage Park! The bartender was absolutely amazing and made the BEST blueberry mojito that my colleagues and I have ever had. Seriously, it was that good! They also had a special smoked cinnamon Old Fashioned that was incredibly smooth and creamy. Definitely worth trying. We started with the South African board, which was perfect for sharing at the bar and a great way to get a taste of a couple of different apps. For dinner, I ordered the Chilean sea bass, which was really good, but the star of the night was the ostrich filet that my colleague had ordered. It was so delicious and definitely something I wasn't expecting to love as much as I did. And the desserts...to die for! The crème brûlée and sticky toffee pudding were both incredible. Our server, JJ, was also great; attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. First time trying Chef's Table, a South African inspired ambient new American restaurant! The interior is dark and moody, and features a lot of the chef's South African memoirs. You can choose to sit either inside or outside. We went with the Houston Restaurant week menu which features some of their most popular dishes. For the appetizer, we tried the sautéed calamari and gumbo. The calamari had a nice creamy garlic sauce which paired well the sautéed bell pepper, onions, and tender calamari. Their gumbo is solid, not too spicy and had nicely cooked rice and a mix of toppings. The rice had a good bite and absorbed the flavor from the gumbo well. I would recommend the sautéed calamari. For entrees, we ordered the wild caught king clip and steak Diane. The very buttery king clip comes with sautéed spinach and is basted in a creamy, slightly lemony sauce which compliments both elements of the dish. The kingclip is garnished with micro greens and comes with an extra lemon for additional acidity, but I felt that it wasn't needed. The steak Diane had a medium cook and was soooo tender to the bite. I would recommend both, but partial towards the king clip if you want to try something unique! Lastly for dessert, I ordered the passion fruit crème brûlée which had such a unique flavor profile! The tartness of the passion fruit goes surprisingly well with the warm vanilla custard. The texture of the creme brûlée toasted sugar top was perfect as well and added a really nice crunch to every bite. My friend ordered their sticky toffee pudding, which was arguably the best one I've had yet. The toffee syrup is incredibly rich and adds a nice caramelized flavor to the ice cream and moist cake base. It's garnished with bits of sugary crumble and fruit. You really can't go wrong with either, but if I had to pick, their sticky toffee pudding is a must try. All in all, such a fun and intimate dining experience! read more

We chose Chef's Table for a business lunch and were genuinely excited about the experience. It started off well, but we ultimately left with mixed feelings. We were seated in a booth that felt quite cramped for a business meeting. Next time, we'd likely request a more open, well-lit table. We ordered several dishes, but the Chilean sea bass was disappointing. It was dry, lacked the buttery texture it's known for, and was quite bland. We also requested a side of hot sauce, but that request was overlooked. To end the meal, we planned to order coffee and toffee instead of dessert. After waiting nearly 30 minutes, we were told the coffee machine had broken. Unfortunately, by then the server seemed eager to wrap things up and didn't really give us the opportunity to consider any other after-meal options. Overall, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and we can see why it's popular, but the food execution and service fell short of our expectations, especially for a business lunch. I was so excited to try this place. Nope this wasn't it. The food has no flavor and it's overpriced. I had the whole fried jerk fish. Not one ounce of jerk and I make jerk chicken and fish often ( my own homemade marinade). With prices like this I expect to be satisfied. I don't mine paying for good food but this was so disappointing considering the ambiance and the wait staff is remarkable. The chocolate cake was absolutely awful dry and box like. I love baking and I make a chocolate ganache cake that is to die for. So I expected something great from a well known chef. And I'm not against a box cake but there's little Tweeks to make it undetectable. The only delicious thing I had was the brussel sprouts. They were on point! I did love the strawberry infused water they serve as well. My husband had the beef Wellington which was ok the pastry was delicious but the meat was a little too rare. Octopus was prepared perfectly - peri peri calamari was great (I'm a sucker for calamari) - Durban chicken was a sizable portion for dinner and a coconut flavor punch - chicken pendadura was ok, the glaze made it taste like American Chinese food (wasn't the biggest fan) - butternut squash ravioli - I didn't get to try but apparently was really good! - sticky toffee pudding - still sweet but pretty tasty. For my milestone birthday, my husband offered to take me anywhere I wanted. I rarely eat red meat and decided to search for a fine dining spot that offered a delicious hamburger. Haha. I know. "Fine dining" and burgers? But that's what I wanted. I searched the web and found the Chefs Table in Vintage Park, and it wasn't too far from us here in The Woodlands, so we decided to make reservations and head there. From the moment we entered, we were treated like special guests. The ambiance is rich, but not overdone or stuffy. Simply classic and relaxing. Our booth felt private and unhindered by conversations of nearby diners or wait staff bustling past. Our cocktails were perfect. The calimari we ordered as an appetizer was probably the most tender and delicious either of us have ever had. And when our burgers arrived, I was so happy. It was exactly what I had set my mind on when selecting my birthday dinner experience. The blend of brisket and chuck was absolutely delicious, set atop a perfectly buttered toasted bun, with some crispy onion straws on top. And the fries... oh my! I rarely if ever eat fried food - so clearly this was my big day to completely go off my standard fare, but those fries had the perfect crunch and flavor. Apparently, when my husband made our resv, he told them it was my birthday, so our server brought out a delightful complimentary spiced cake dessert after we were finished eating - for us to share. Unbelievably wonderful Thanksgiving box. Putting aside my mother's cooking, this is the best turkey I've ever had. It must have been brined for days because it was incredibly tender and juicy, and the very light smoke resulted in a delicious bite. Chef's stuffing was yummy, the green bean casserole with mushrooms was incredible, and I could just go on and on. It was sitting in the refrigerator all ready to be prepared and then I remembered that Chef had said the turkey was even good cold. So when nobody was looking, I pulled the tray out to sneak a bite and was stunned by the juiciness and tenderness and fabulous flavor! Next year we are definitely going to order the Thanksgiving box in advance of the holiday. We went again today and discovered a fabulous new dish of butternut squash ravioli in a lemon sauce with Parmesan. WOW, WOW, WOW! I stole a bite off my niece's plate and couldn't believe how delicious it was. This is the one place that truly lives up to the reviews!! We went here as a date night. First things first, they actually paid attention to the reservation and put us in a great spot. I feel like whenever I ask for certain things on the reservation they are never addressed so it was a great start to finally be recognized! Food: We got the beef Wellington, ravioli, naan bread, and sticky toffee for dessert and everything was 12 out of 10. Overall, it could rival any high end restaurant in The Woodlands. Everything that we tried was great, so I would recommend ordering whatever looks best to you. Thank you to the hostess at the time for being patient with my family as we asked for millions of pics. Food- we started off with the peri peri calamari, sautéed calamari, & stuffed shrimp. Late Post: First time dining at this restaurant and we had dinner here I believed during HRW week. The waitress that served us was excellent. You can really tell she enjoyed her job and like talking to customers as she had informative recommendations from the menu. We were on a double date so we ordered a variety of foods to share and everything we tried was seasoned well, extremely fresh and uniquely flavored. They also have a nice wine room with various selections to satisfy any connoisseur. I would definitely go back to this place to try more items on menu. It was definitely "A culinary journey" as they advertise. We were there for lunch. I had the carrot ginger soup. That was the very best soup I have EVER eaten. He had the bacon wrapped chicken. He said the sauce on it was incredible. We both had the South African Kingklip fish. Again, that was the best fish we've EVER eaten. It melts in your mouth. You barely chew! The roux was perfect and highly recommend if you enjoy gumbo at all, my entree was the back yard braai which was also a 10/10 and has all of the best items on menu! Restaurant was very good and had some really unique options. Service was fantastic. Me and my wife order the Caesar salad, wedge, and a spin on your dip for appetizers. The spin on your dip was 10/10! Not really a normal tasting spinach dip but still very good. For our entree I got the ostrich filet and my wife got the beef Wellington. The filet was good however I think the sauce was doing it a disservice, I gave it a 6.5-7/10. The beef Wellington was also pretty good at a 7.5/10. Dessert was also really good. Sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake with the pudding being the STAR of the show. All in all it was really good and a nice change up from your normal steak houses or nice dinner spots. read more

We have had mixed success with this restaurant, however we decided to try it a third time and we are glad we did. It has improved both with the menu and service dramatically. The service is a 10/10. I mean stellar. Ambiance, with the exception of a cackling drunk woman (hardly the restaurant's responsibility) was a 10/10. The food was also larger portions than expected and the taste was 9/10. I had a mixed plate and they put an analog to a marinara as a sauce on the cheesy mashed potatoes. That was a miss, but hey 1 miss all evening is a nothing burger. The wine selection was good and priced better than the food. The food was expensive, but with the portion sized you could, as a couple split one or two appetizers and a main course, and I say this as someone who eats a reasonable amount of food. Dessert was also a large portion so split that or be ready to take a portion home. We spent $254 with tip. Two entrees, one appetizer, one side, one bottle of wine and two desserts. I tipped at 20% so the actual bill prior to tip was slightly above $200. The pricing doubles to keep the riff raff out, which is welcome. Additionally the chef frequently made his rounds speaking to various tables. If you are looking to take your wife out to a nice dinner this place is winner, hands down. P. S.
