For my milestone birthday, my husband offered to take me anywhere I wanted. I rarely eat red meat and decided to search for a fine dining spot that offered a delicious hamburger. Haha. I know. "Fine dining" and burgers? But that's what I wanted. I searched the web and found the Chefs Table in Vintage Park, and it wasn't too far from us here in The Woodlands, so we decided to make reservations and head there. From the moment we entered, we were treated like special guests. The ambiance is rich, but not overdone or stuffy. Simply classic and relaxing. Our booth felt private and unhindered by conversations of nearby diners or wait staff bustling past. Our cocktails were perfect. The calimari we ordered as an appetizer was probably the most tender and delicious either of us have ever had. And when our burgers arrived, I was so happy. It was exactly what I had set my mind on when selecting my birthday dinner experience. The blend of brisket and chuck was absolutely delicious, set atop a perfectly buttered toasted bun, with some crispy onion straws on top. And the fries... oh my! I rarely if ever eat fried food - so clearly this was my big day to completely go off my standard fare, but those fries had the perfect crunch and flavor. Apparently, when my husband made our resv, he told them it was my birthday, so our server brought out a delightful complimentary spiced cake dessert after we were finished eating - for us to share. It was the perfect finish to an already amazing meal. Thank you to the entire staff at The Chefs Table yesterday, for helping to create a memorable and delicious birthday feast for my husband and me. We chose Chef's Table for a business lunch and were genuinely excited about the experience. It started off well, but we ultimately left with mixed feelings. We were seated in a booth that felt quite cramped for a business meeting. Next time, we'd likely request a more open, well-lit table. We ordered several dishes, but the Chilean sea bass was disappointing. It was dry, lacked the buttery texture it's known for, and was quite bland. We also requested a side of hot sauce, but that request was overlooked. To end the meal, we planned to order coffee and toffee instead of dessert. After waiting nearly 30 minutes, we were told the coffee machine had broken. Unfortunately, by then the server seemed eager to wrap things up and didn't really give us the opportunity to consider any other after-meal options. Overall, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere and we can see why it's popular, but the food execution and service fell short of our expectations, especially for a business lunch. This is the one place that truly lives up to the reviews!! We went here as a date night. First things first, they actually paid attention to the reservation and put us in a great spot. I feel like whenever I ask for certain things on the reservation they are never addressed so it was a great start to finally be recognized! Food: We got the beef Wellington, ravioli, naan bread, and sticky toffee for dessert and everything was 12 out of 10. The service was wonderful; our waitress had a true passion and told us the story about the Chef. We truly enjoyed our experience and will absolutely be back again. I was so excited to try this place. Nope this wasn't it. The food has no flavor and it's overpriced. I had the whole fried jerk fish. Not one ounce of jerk and I make jerk chicken and fish often ( my own homemade marinade). With prices like this I expect to be satisfied. I don't mine paying for good food but this was so disappointing considering the ambiance and the wait staff is remarkable. The chocolate cake was absolutely awful dry and box like. I love baking and I make a chocolate ganache cake that is to die for. So I expected something great from a well known chef. And I'm not against a box cake but there's little Tweeks to make it undetectable. The only delicious thing I had was the brussel sprouts. They were on point! I did love the strawberry infused water they serve as well. My husband had the beef Wellington which was ok the pastry was delicious but the meat was a little too rare. And he had lobster Mac n cheese which was pretty good. All in all we won't be going back. read more

Oh my goodness the food is delicious! This was our first time at this restaurant. We are trying new restaurants during Houston Restaurant Weeks. It was definitely "A culinary journey" as they advertise. We were there for lunch. I had the carrot ginger soup. That was the very best soup I have EVER eaten. He had the bacon wrapped chicken. He said the sauce on it was incredible. We both had the South African Kingklip fish. Again, that was the best fish we've EVER eaten. It melts in your mouth. You barely chew! It is topped generously with crab and lobster and a sauce that is out of this world. Please be kind to your servers and tip generously. They tend to make less money during Houston restaurant weeks but still try their very best to give you incredible service. Our server was the best. The atmosphere is great for date day or date night. Revisited and had an amazing experience! Likely my new favorite restaurant! Food: - charred octopus with chimichurri was my favorite dish of the nice. Octopus was prepared perfectly - peri peri calamari was great (I'm a sucker for calamari) - Durban chicken was a sizable portion for dinner and a coconut flavor punch - chicken pendadura was ok, the glaze made it taste like American Chinese food (wasn't the biggest fan) - butternut squash ravioli - I didn't get to try but apparently was really good! - sticky toffee pudding - still sweet but pretty tasty. The Chef's Table is a good local spot with South African flavor. Service was great and the food was very good. I tried the ostrich fillet, which was different for me. I probably would not order it again, but it was worth trying at least once. Dinner for four was about $800, so definitely not inexpensive. My family recently enjoyed an excellent holiday meal at the Chef's Table. The food was absolutely delicious and pleasing to the eye. The service was also excellent. Overall, it could rival any high end restaurant in The Woodlands. Everything that we tried was great, so I would recommend ordering whatever looks best to you. Unbelievably wonderful Thanksgiving box. Putting aside my mother's cooking, this is the best turkey I've ever had. It must have been brined for days because it was incredibly tender and juicy, and the very light smoke resulted in a delicious bite. Chef's stuffing was yummy, the green bean casserole with mushrooms was incredible, and I could just go on and on. It was sitting in the refrigerator all ready to be prepared and then I remembered that Chef had said the turkey was even good cold. So when nobody was looking, I pulled the tray out to sneak a bite and was stunned by the juiciness and tenderness and fabulous flavor! Next year we are definitely going to order the Thanksgiving box in advance of the holiday. We went again today and discovered a fabulous new dish of butternut squash ravioli in a lemon sauce with Parmesan. WOW, WOW, WOW! I stole a bite off my niece's plate and couldn't believe how delicious it was. My friends Adrienne and Holly both ordered the beef Wellington, and I had the crab cake eggs Benedict with truffle tater tots - everything was absolutely phenomenal, as always. I honestly didn't think I'd like the food at first, but wow -- the entire experience completely surprised me! The service was absolutely amazing from start to finish. I went during lunch (highly recommend it because it's much cheaper than dinner), and everything we ordered was fantastic. I had the lamb chops with potatoes -- absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. The menu has a South American/South African flair, and every dish my coworkers ordered was also really good. I'm a very picky eater, so that says a lot! The atmosphere was warm and inviting -- a great spot for lunch with friends or even a perfect date night. They also serve refreshing watermelon-infused water, which I couldn't get enough of. The only small thing I'd love is if they started the meal with some bread or something similar, but that's just my personal preference. Food: calamari: perfect and the sauce complimented it well, breading was perfectly crunchy and not too thick, the squid was tender without being overcooked the filet medallion skewers with chimicchurri sauce: beef and saffron rice were very flavorful, cooked perfectly medium per request, would definitely order this again kingklip: very buttery, not too much taste and kind of one note, but i can see why people would order it if you love fish sticky toffee pudding: for people with sweet tooths but this was a bit too much for me read more

This place absolutely blew me away with the flavors they have, the service and history behind the restaurant. I started off with a cup of the gumbo that was a 10/10 on flavor and spice. The roux was perfect and highly recommend if you enjoy gumbo at all, my entree was the back yard braai which was also a 10/10 and has all of the best items on menu! It was an absolute must if it's your first time here. The dessert was the sticky toffee pudding was the cherry on top. Henry was our server and did an absolute amazing job with describing all of flavors in every dish I had all of which were all of his recommendations. Came to celebrate my birthday with my family on a Tuesday night. Service was great. Everyone was attentive and very accommodating. Thank you to the hostess at the time for being patient with my family as we asked for millions of pics. Food- we started off with the peri peri calamari, sautéed calamari, & stuffed shrimp. Entrees included the Jerk Snapper, hot honey bacon chutney salmon, shrimp scampi, and the 16oz ribeye. Sides included the Brussels sprouts and the lobster Mac & cheese. No complaints from the family. My mom did order the prawns and wasn't satisfied but they were able to change out the dish- the prawns didn't taste fresh and bit overcooked. A higher end experience with appropriate pricing. This is a really great place with a nice atmosphere, great service, and upscale food. It's a little pricey for everyday dining but if you're looking for something special this will deliver for that birthday dinner or that business lunch where you're aiming to impress. Late Post: First time dining at this restaurant and we had dinner here I believed during HRW week. The waitress that served us was excellent. You can really tell she enjoyed her job and like talking to customers as she had informative recommendations from the menu. We were on a double date so we ordered a variety of foods to share and everything we tried was seasoned well, extremely fresh and uniquely flavored. They also have a nice wine room with various selections to satisfy any connoisseur. I would definitely go back to this place to try more items on menu. Went here for my 1 year anniversary dinner. THE ABSOLUTE MOST AMAZING FOOD I'VE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! Everything was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. Service was amazing above and beyond. Restaurant was very good and had some really unique options. Service was fantastic. Me and my wife order the Caesar salad, wedge, and a spin on your dip for appetizers. The spin on your dip was 10/10! Not really a normal tasting spinach dip but still very good. For our entree I got the ostrich filet and my wife got the beef Wellington. The filet was good however I think the sauce was doing it a disservice, I gave it a 6.5-7/10. The beef Wellington was also pretty good at a 7.5/10. Dessert was also really good. Sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake with the pudding being the STAR of the show. All in all it was really good and a nice change up from your normal steak houses or nice dinner spots. read more

It was not addressed gently, and we were never offered the option to move to another table--whether on the patio or elsewhere inside. That is something we would have gladly accepted, as we do understand and respect the environment you aim to create. Our daughter was only making occasional noises--she was not crying or being consistently loud. Additionally, there was another toddler seated a couple of tables behind us who was also making noise.
