Well, I was really hoping to like this place, but it was actually rather surprising just how terrible the food was. For starters, the only real vegetarian option was a veggie burger. It was one of those frozen, garden burger patties. I asked for it on wheat bread, which came toasted to the point of being so hard and dry that it literally turned to dust in my mouth. The accompanying fries had been frozen for god knows how long and tasted like oilly nothingness. My pal got eggs and home fries, which I tried (I had ordered home fries, too but fries arrived instead). They can only be described as mostly mushy, slimy, and somewhat flavorless. Nice ambience and clean, nice staff , decent enough menu but very slow and disorganized/ badly managed diner. Never had a single order done right or delivered entirely. Last time I waited 30 mins for a pickup. Half the order was not there, the other half was not done as per instructions. There was one instruction - please go easy on the cream cheese AKA light schmear. This was not done. There was spoonfuls of cheese oozing out as soon as I held the wrap. Remaining order was delivered proactively after I called and complained. Person on the phone only asked if I wanted it delivered, did not say sorry or anything but The delivery man apologized for the mistake and was friendly. This restaurant is all over the place. I'm giving them 4 stars because I WANT them to succeed. Over the past year they've undergone 3 or 4 name changes and some major decor changes. I think their biggest issue is that they don't know who they want to be. For the longest time, they were doing great as a bagel and coffee spot. But maybe this wasn't lucrative enough so they've tried to become a trendy New American place. But they're still very confusing, as it's presenting itself as a sit-down restaurant, yet they still have a drink fridge, coffee bar with milk and sugar, and cash register to order from. I get that they want to cater to people on the go as well as folks looking for a more traditional meal, but they're straddling both worlds in a confusing way. My experience today past that has been nothing but disappointment. My simple order of an egg bagel with cheese and ham came out with no ham and the wrong type of bagel. DO NOT GO HERE. ENDED UP SPENDING $40 ON AN OVERPRICED BREAKFAST FOR TWO WITH TERRIBLE SERVICE AND FOOD THAT MADE US SICK. As soon as we show up they're a little busier, but still had a good amount of tables open and we followed another couple that seated themselves since there was no staff or sign by the door to tell us otherwise. Once we sit after a few minutes, a nice waitress shouts over that she'll be there to help us in a minute (totally fine cuz they were busy, we didn't mind at all). Another waiter comes to take our order...chewing gum...doesn't greet us...takes our order...doesn't repeat it or ask any specification questions (how do you want your eggs, etc). Then another waiter comes and gives us water, drops a filled cup on our table and us (again accidents happen and at least it's just water) but gave a half ass apology and was laughing. Then we get our food from yet another waiter and its incorrect and they hadn't brought us silverware or napkins yet. At this point we don't even know who our waiter actually is to ask for silverware and to refill our coffees and waters that sat there empty. We got the silverware, then finally asked two random waiters and one of them brought us refills and then proceeded to clear the table right in front of us before even asking if we were done. Got our bill and they overcharged us for two items... Icing on the cake...my boyfriend threw up when we got home and my stomach was off all day and then next morning. A shame because the place is cute and has a lot of potential, but will not be going back to a place that made us sick and stressed us out sitting there because the service was that terrible. I've never taken the time to write a review in my life but my experience here was unreal. We didn't receive half our order after asking 2 times (it happens we weren't concerned about it). When we receive our meals my boyfriend and I were asked to GET UP and move tables so 2 parties that walked in could sit next to each other. The waitress then stared at us while we carried our own meals, water, coffees, backpacks and coats to a new table. Didn't offer to help, legitimately just stared at us. As were asking for the bill they ask if we still wanted our side dishes (?). The waiter gave us a dirty look and walked away when we said no thank you. Their bagels are awesome BUT for a simple order it takes 20+ minutes to even order sometimes and that's not even when it's busy! They do not have any sort of functioning system to order in the place. There are probably about 3-4 guys in the back and one singular poor girl handling the entire front of house orders. What they need to be doing is have every single one of the guys in the back up front taking orders and then making those orders. Would be infinitely more efficient. I used to frequent this place for bagels when I first moved to Bushwick, but recently every visits been a major let down. They run out of everything bagels extremely early in the day and are always out of their tofu spread options. You'd think if you're running out of items early in the day you'd make/order extra to ensure your customers aren't disappointed. Also, I had an experience where they refrained from telling me they were out of tofu spread and used regular cream cheese instead.
