I went here many times when they first opened, and they weren't great then. I once paid $20 for a chicken cutlet sandwich because the person ringing up the order didn't know how to use the POS platform. Since then, I've seen nothing but bad reviews for this spot. The Bushwick Diner is a pretty chill brunch/lunch spot. I came here during a weekend where a lot of other places were closed (probably due to the coronavirus concerns) and this was pretty much the only place open. I ordered a benedict eggs and iced tea. Both the benedict eggs tasted pretty bland and the tea tasted really watered down (and that's before any ice had melted). But the portion size was decent. If it was based on the food alone, this would be a 2-3 star type of place. But I went with 4 stars because the place is pretty clean and spacious, with plenty of seating, and the staff were all friendly (from the server to the cook). Plus they were one of the only few places that were open, while most places are cutting hours or completely closed due to the pandemic. They also have a printer out that (I assume customers can use) since it's in the open, easily accessible and one of the first things you see when entering. The printer is literally a few steps from the door. So, if you need to print something and you don't have a printer (or it's broken) you could use theirs (not sure how much it would cost though). This is probably the second time I have ever seen a printer at a diner/cafe. read more

Not sure why this place has such bad ratings. I was always hesitant to try this place because of this but it completely exceeded my expectations. The diner was pretty full and busy at 10am on a Saturday morning but we were seated and greeted right away. The food is very fairly priced for their portions. I got the Spanish omelette with French fries and toast. The Spanish omelette was very good and the French fries were so hot and crispy, I'm still thinking about them. Okay so I am not from this neighborhood, but my friends and I stumbled upon this cute restaurant after only a minute walk from the subway. At first, we were a bit scared to try this new place out but wow were we SO glad we gave it a try! The service was friendly right off the bat, and to make things better, they offered a free complimentary drink. For appetizers, we started off with the kiss of tartar, then moved to the New York strip steak (both very fresh and delicious). We ended the night off with the mushroom risotto and WOW SO GOOD. I would recommend trying this place out for the atmosphere and the great dishes. I should also add that the restaurant is pretty reasonably priced considering the quality of the food. Overall great experience, however, there was one downside - there is only one location! I hope they will eventually open more places to come. read more

Came here for breakfast on Saturday morning. The wait wasn't too bad, 5-10 minutes at most. Greeted by a friendly server, took our order immediately. Coffees / Juice / Omelette and a sandwich. Everything was really good, if you're eager for tap water to be served, you have to ask. Not everyone wants it so for everyone who wrote a review saying they didn't get tap water, please relax. I came here without reading the reviews because I live nearby and wanted some pancakes with my boyfriend. Not knowing they were made from the devil himself or at least the waitress was. This happened on Tuesday january 14th at 3:05pm. I tried to call later on to talk to Louie, the owner, about the issue, as this waitress is the downfall of that establishment and I would like to know as a business owner. I've given this place 4 tries! As it's close. Two of 2 times the people that worked there were friendly. Their prices are so outlandish, I lived in the heart of Williamsburg, Bedford Ave, Brooklyn: and never saw $11.95 for a chicken quesadilla, I received with dried out chicken, avocado, and sour cream served on the side in containers the size of a quarter. It was after 11pm on a Tuesday night, nothing open, when I decide to pay $11.95 or a chicken quesadilla. So, this was my 2nd visit, I went back and the waitress asked for more cheese and gave me more sour cream and avocado. Third time, was sick over weekend and ordered for delivery. Extra cheese on quesadilla, extra sour cream, and extra avocado. Also ordered what appears to be canned chicken noodle soup for 7.95! Order totaled over $40.00 with tip. Quesadilla chicken was dry, barely any cheese, and again two quarter size containers, one of avocado, the other sour cream. Today I went in and told them what happened, the rude counter-person says she has nothing to do with online orders, but mentions Post-Mates, the service used without my telling her where the order came from. I did add a positive, telling her there was a lot of chicken.Without apology she asked me to move until I decided on my order, referred me to menus on counter. I looked at menus and of course there is an option for a regular cheese quesadilla at $10.95, one dollar less. I decided on this, as I had all this dry chicken at home I figured I'd order a plain cheese quesadilla. I stepped up to order and said, "I'll have a cheese quesadilla, this time you may leave the sour cream/avocado on, perhaps I'll get more." She then screams "you still get the same amount!" I say,"fine I'll pay extra for it." She says, "ok, so chicken quesadilla with extra sour cream/avocado", I reply, "no just a cheese quesadilla with extra avocado/sour cream." She screams we don't have that! look at the menu above on the wall! I say I'm holding your menu and it says "cheese quesadilla $10.95, add chicken, beef, veggies $11.95." I look at the wall and tell her it says the same thing. She says she's refusing to serve me because I won't like anything, and something about the sour cream/avocado, I remind her I was willing to pay extra. Then ask to speak to a manager, she says she is the manager. So I was refused service for ordering a cheese quesadilla. Really one of the most ridiculous restaurant experiences I have ever had. If the place wasn't 2 doors down from me it wouldn't have gone this far. Also they are the only American style diner for blocks. They know it and they charge for it!
