Went on a joy ride drive through the back roads of Central florida northwest of Winter Garden, very happy to lots of nature and cows grazing. Needing to stop for lunch we came upon The butcher Block Kitchen right before it closed at 3pm. There is a lunch time and a dinner time. We ordered the onion ring appetizer, turkey club and French onion soup. The star of the meal was the onion rings, best I've ever eaten so very yummy and crunchy, I was told it was their own batter so if they make anything else with that batter I would get it cause it will taste delicious. The French onion soup was just ok and the club sandwich was nothing spectacular, just a regular club on white bread, they could have spruced it up with real turkey or a better bread and made it shine! I definitely would stop there for those onion rings and maybe their fried fish has the house natter than that would be very good too. read more

One of my colleagues frequents this establishment and orders breakfast all day. In fact, I was the only one of the 4 of us to order lunch and it was 2pm. I ordered a Reuben sandwich and added a side of pancake battered onion rings. The Rueben on the rye and thousand island dressing was tasty and was a good portion. My colleagues ordered omelettes that also looked tasty if it was 9am. We weren't in a hurry but I had a flight in the late afternoon out of Tampa so we ate and headed out. Place was freezing cold. Cannot comment on the food because we never received service. Watched multiple people come in and the server immediately got them menus and drinks and bypassed us a few times. Had menus in her hand and gave them to other tables that came in after. Terrible service and she was very scattered. Tried to get us to come back when getting up to leave after about 10 minutes. Would give zero stars if that was an option. read more

First time here and came for breakfast. For Groveland, you can't ask for more. The food was good with big portions and the prices are better than your chain restaurant. The service was also above average. We sat on the patio where they have plenty of fans to keep you cool. Only negative is we had a to fend off the flies a little more than we would like. Overall I would recommend and we will be back to try lunch. read more

Cute place off the main road on Groveland. Worth your stop. Our waitress Bri was so helpful, cheerful and kind. I started w ice tea it's homemade and very good. Strong. Free refills what can go wrong. Well the water can. It was typical Florida filtered water. I'm a snob and no amount of lemon would make it taste better. The food on the other hand was great. I had the shrimp Cobb and not like other places I've seen shrimp this one was about a dozen good size well cooked and seasoned. The bacon is homemade and there's an app that if I wasn't dieting I would have had. It sounded so good as did all their apps. My salad was plenty of fresh lettuce it seemed like Romaine and iceberg not one leaf as flat or bruised. The dressing I used was Greek and it was really good. My son loved his black and blue burger and he commented it's the first time in a long time that it was cooked as asked. He had the Mac n cheese side and loves it. It had lots of cheese and was gooey hot and delicious. He also tried the corn chowder and loved it. It had a great amount of corn and other goodies inside like bacon. All cooked to perfection and yummy. My mom loved her steak salad it was also plenty of salad bacon and blue cheese. She loved them dressing not sure if it's homemade but it had chunks of blue cheese added into the dressing. She loved it. Wish we had room for dessert because they sounded good. Want can I not say about this little Groveland gem? Besides absolutely amazing! Lynn, our waitress was very prompt and so friendly. Such a small hometown feel with everyone there, it was great! Hubby had the Shrimp & grits, " absolutely mouthwatering". I had 2 eggs with bacon, hash browns and biscuits, cooked perfectly! Can't wait until we come back, maybe for lunch next time! read more

Just had lunch and it was amazing. Terrific server made us feel welcome. We're Houstonians and this little place is that quality of food. The fried green tomatoes appetizer was as good or better than Brennan's (less the crab meat). We ordered shrimp po-boy and flounder sandwich. Both excellent but shrimp po-boy was winner out of the two. Delicious remoulade sauce. Onion rings crispy and delicious. Will definitely return! read more

Decent place Friendly staff Many choices including breakfast all day. Had the Rios Burger (this was not a cook to order place) Sweet Tea (although not listed on the menu) was very good GF had the Portobello (we agreed there was to much feta and the mushroom was somewhat bland) We won't rule out coming back but the food wasn't grabbing us to return. read more

Was a little hesitant at first, but really glad I found this little gem. With the prices they are at food chains this one fits the bill with food cooked to order. I recommend this if you want a homestyle breakfast on a lazy morning day. The place stayed pretty busy with incoming and outgoing traffic Customer service was very attentive. I'd love to give this place a review but that would require being served something other than flat soda and pathetic excuses as to why we waited 45 minutes only to be informed that our food had never been prepared. We were 1 of 3 tables at 2pm in the afternoon. With over 45 years in the hospitality industry, I have never been so thoroughly disgusted with the lack of service. Zero stars awarded. First time since new ownership. Breakfast was much improved. Only thing that wasn't great was the biscuits. The country gravy was spot on. Such a fun and local hang out spot! The Butcher Block has a variety of burgers and sandwiches to choose from at a great price. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. They are now serving adult beverages so we went with all three mimosas. The staff was super friendly and even brought large coloring books to each child at our table to keep them entertained. We are local and we are always are looking for great places to eat near home. My wife found this place online and we thought we would give it a try. The food looked amazing! We came in and were greeted immediately by staff and told to set anywhere we want. We chose a table outside and waited. Well we waited and waited and no one came to our table. Great local spot for burgers or good old southern fried food. Try the appetizers which were great. We tried the quesadillas and fried green tomatoes, both great and under $10. Service was great. Georgia, our server, was very attentive and suggested some choices. We chose crab balls for an appetizer they were incredible. I picked the country fried steak with real mashed potatoes, and my wife got the fried shrimp with mashed potatoes for our dinners. Both entries came with a salad. The dressings were house made. We ordered burgers and they were good. Not huge but good sized. I ordered the Rio and really enjoyed it. My daughter and husband ordered regular burgers and said they were not bad. The onion rings were homemade and excellent. The service was excellent. Restaurant was clean and kept up. Prices were good. My only complaint is they had no Diet Coke (Coke Zero does not count). There's beer flights to choose your favorite beer, but also mixing them together is a tradition. My favorite thing so far has been the shepherds pie, which comes extremely hot and is very hardy. It appears since the last time I've been there they've added much more outdoor seating almost looks like they might have events from time to time. parking is ample, but if you're in the back, you will have to head down the stairs to find the establishment.

I had the quesadilla which was packed with chicken and overflowing with cheese. The kids had the burger sliders and chicken fingers which were good size portions. Our friends had two of the bowls and they were overflowing with toppings. There was also a ton of grass space for the kiddos to run around. We were there for three hours and honestly could have stayed longer.
