Wow! My boyfriend and I (who are not even vegetarians) just had lunch here and it was an awesome experience. I got the steak & cheese with potato salad, which was delicious! They had a ton of different menu options, the staff was friendly and patient with all of our questions and even gave us samples to taste before we decided what to order. This place is on par with other notable vegan restaurants, such as Native Foods Cafe. Looking forward to coming back next time I'm in town. read more

Terrific vegan food, I've been here after seeing pics and saying "wow that's a vegan dish"? They're really breaking the mold on veganism. I've had the BLTA but wasn't much a fan of the sliced "meat" they used. I've stopped by this hot spot on a Saturday during brunch it was busy line out the door probably 35 min from line to food. The seating is limited so don't expect to find a table. I've also come on a weekday and found a table with no problem. The cashiers voice and demeanor made it seem like she'd had a long day. That's why I'm giving 4 not 5 stars. It was close to closing when she did a store wide final call with a tone that didn't seem pleasant or inviting. My vegan friend said her coffee cake was kind of dry and she could have made a better one at home. Her Philly cheesesteak was good, my food was decent as well. read more

The food is good, as far as vegan junk food goes. I would give it five stars based on the food alone, however, the service is abysmal. I thought when they opened up the new spot it would get much better, but I was wrong. The service is extremely slow and no one who works there seems to care. On our recent visit we arrived right at 9am - probably the 6th customer in the door - and we still waited over 20 minutes for our food. It's really unfortunate because it is a great idea for a restaurant. I hope the success of the Butchers Son encourages other similar restaurants to open. read more

Amazing!!! I've been here before and it's always been a great experience. I'm so glad they are opening up a larger location bc my only criticism is the wait. I went there today (Saturday) at 11:25 am and didn't get my food until 12:15 pm...the line was way out the door and there was a large group of friends in front of me that decided to order separately...ugh! Otherwise I would HIGHLY recommend The Butcher's Son! I ordered the fried mozzarella as well as the buffalo fried mozzarella...both yum but the reg fried moz was better. I also had the chili chicken BLAT...yummmmmy...and the turkey grinder...yum! I hope one day they open up a shop in the South Bay! read more

This place gets it right. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is both ethical and really tasty. It gets a little crowded, but didn't seem claustrophobic on a busy evening, and they do a good job of keeping everything moving. I had the BLT which was really great while my partner (who is very suspicious of vegan meals in general) had a meatball grinder that was hot and tasty. We left here full and quite content. read more

I don't know how you guys do it!!! I am a baby vegan (1.5 months in to it) and I have been cooking primarily at home to save money and know exactly what I'm cooking. I then had the unfortunate experience of downloading post mates, Amazon prime now and grub hub.. I say unfortunent because I keep on finding yummy vegan spots just like this! I just recived my lunch and OMG!!!! The chicken sandwich was to die for, the bacon Mac salad was one of the best macaroni salad I have ever had. I was disappointed with the size of the cupcake but the taste was amazing!!! I can't wait to bring my husband here who is a full fledged carnivore! I'm sure he will love it!!! I've been here twice and ordered different things both times, plus tasted everything my family has ordered, everything is delicious! The new location with the patio is gorgeous. There is a lot of potential at this place and honestly we might have just chosen the wrong items but both the salad and my bacon chicken sandwich was drenched in vinegary sauce so much that you couldn't really taste other flavors! The menu is huge, the line is short resulting in frustration as I cannot possibly choose out of 40-50 items in 2 minutes! We had a surprisingly nice lunch at The Butcher's Son. (they gotta change that name...maybe The Butcher's VEGAN Son) We walked past it the day before after eating at Udupi Palace and noticed the menu on the door. But walking inside I was confused by the large menu board because it reads like a carnivores menu. Beef, pork, chicken, bacon. There's very little signage indicating that it's vegan food or what the ingredients are. Maybe to trick meat eaters to try vegan? There is a larger sign in the dining area, but not up front where you're ordering from the menu board. It's confusing for some customers that I noticed leaving without ordering...oh well. I'm not strictly vegan, but like the non meat option. Anyway, we returned for lunch the following day and had a Fried Mozzarella & Meatball sandwich...so big had to take half home. Thumbs up yummy fried cheese. Great for my lactose intolerant belly. Hubs had the Grinder with cole slaw side and loved it. Didn't like the sweet pickles so much. We prefer kosher dill pickles. And, I decided to get a donut for later since I enjoyed the sandwich...some kinda chocolate coffee thing...ugh. Better to get the real deal. Can't wait to try the other items. read more

I came on an early Friday night with a vegetarian friend. How happy we were to discover that there is a vegetarian restaurant here.The seating was plenty and there was a nice area to get your own water, bus your own trays, and get your utensils. There were so many choices on the menu I wanted to eat them all. But, I stuck with the Classic Fried Chicken. Classic Fried Chicken: I quite liked it. The "fried chicken" was stacked inside a bun with coleslaw". It was literally too big too eat, and I was struggling to eat it like an hamburger with my hands. I just gave up and cut up the chicken and the bread and ate it with a fork. The crispiness of the "chicken" was great! It made me reminisce of the days I ate fried chicken before I was vegetarian. I could care less about the coleslaw that was in the bun with it. Bacon Mac and Cheese: I got this as my side with my sandwich. It was really good as well! I'm not a big fan of really cheesy mac and cheese, so it was good because it was light. It was more of a cold mac n cheese salad. I think it paired really well with the sandwich. The "bacon" was the main attention grabber. It was tasty! My friend ordered the B.L.A.T. and she enjoyed it too! She got it with a side of pickle, and it was a huge pickle! Overall: I really enjoyed the food and definitely want to come back and try more items. I was a little disappointed, because I guess they ran out of desserts since we came at the end of the day. Sadly not a vegan replacement for a butcher shop. Even after waiting in line for over half an hour we left with nothing. Their vegan slices are all in plastic, pre cut. I was hoping for something more like a normal butcher shop or deli counter where they slice and weigh the product. I have no problem with vegan options. I just don't think you should use the word butcher in the name and then list things like "chicken" and "bacon" on things on the menu when it's completely vegan. I came down there and felt like a fool (agreed I'm partially at fault). Again people should eat what they want, but I think if the roles were reversed vegans would be pissed if they showed up to a restaurant only to find that all the menu items actually had meat (real meat)! read more

I got the "Killer B.L.A.T" - now just know, I've been vegetarian my whole life, so I don't know what fried chicken or bacon taste like when they're made of animal - it was delicious! and huge! took more than half of it home for later! So I would have been happy to give a better review, had one of the employees not behave so blatantly rude to me. I was holding a table while my friends ordered, and suddenly this woman who I thought worked there took dirty plates from the other table and put them on my table and started scraping the plates together. I figured it as a lax way they went about bussing tables, then I realized that person did not actually work there but she was out front with a sign asking for money. The woman had left a bunch of nasty stuff on our table, so I waved one of the employees over asking her to wipe the table. I proceeded to let the employee know what happened and she was all "huh" I have no idea what you are talking about!" and she rolled her eyes at me. So I explained further and then she got super defensive and was all "that's Sally the Vegan farmer(or something like that) she has every right to be here!" I said oh okay thanks for letting me know. The rude employee then huffed off and started grumbling and pointing at me to the other staff. I was really taken aback, and her reaction was uncalled for. She could have more politely explained the situation instead of getting all aggro about it. If she would have been more about having a polite dialogue I would have had a much better experience. This rude employee seemed to have an attitude and made me wonder if it was because I didn't have the look of the other patrons, but none the less she came off as a bit self-righteous and missed an opportunity to help me understand what the situation was. Other than that the food was tasty and I would have given more stars, but I felt highly unwelcomed due to this rude employee's behavior. read more

The food is soooo good! The macaroni is one of the best. The pulled pork sandwich with the pickled Jalapeños was incredibly delicious. They also have donuts and drinks. Expect a wait cos the place is pretty small for how many people want to eat there but it seems they are moving across the street to a larger location so that should take of that :) read more
