Tried the spicy cashew dressing, pesto vinaigrette, and the hot honey mustard sauce with subbed out a lot from my steak honey crunch bowl, but wanted to try the most of what I was excited about! Also got the corn salsa, broccoli, and sweet potatoes with kale, and loved how they paired together and the fresh taste! The last time I ordered pickup at a Sweetgreen was at the SF SOMA location. It took 25 mins to get my food while I watched at least 10 walk-in customers get served and out the door before me. I vowed never to order from that location again period I ordered from this Berkeley spot today. My order was not ready when I walked in. However, one of the staff members saw me look at the pickup area, asked me for my name, found my order in the system, and immediately made it. She apologized for the wait when handing it to me. They should fill the orders in the order that they come in. And more often than not, they are out of bread. Additionally, the orders are very inconsistent. I use to go to this location a lot because my office is down the street, they've always had issues during rush hour but the teams attitude and customer service were always amazing and it made up for it. For the last few months whenever I tried to order I'd arrive and there's no parking! Even in the mornings when there's no customers the lot is full? Idk if the employees just take all of it or what. On top of the wait times being 45mins to over an hour! But prices keep shooting up and the service and quality has gone down a lot, I'm seeing a lot of new faces and it seems to me like they lost all of the best workers and now it's just what's left. Yes from time to time my order is not correct and yes the prices can seem a little high, BUT I have not been able to find a place that specializes in just salads with so many HEALTHY and fresh options as this place. So with that said - they have so many options for unique salads and I love so always see what their seasonal special is. I used to love sweetgreen. Circa 2016 sweetgreen everywhere were fully staffed, clean, energetic, fresh, and so good. Remember when they'd mix your salad in a big bowl for you and offer a free piece of bread with every salad? Those were the days. I still go back once in a while because I miss the old sweetgreen, but the quality, freshness, staffing, etc. isn't it anymore. This one near UC Berkley was extra dirty, they were out of a lot of ingredients to make certain salads, lettuce was soft/warm/old, and service was worn out (maybe because they are staffed right). Trash cans inside and out were overflowing, tables smeared with old food, flies everywhere, bathroom out of comish...it was just a sad state of affairs. We came and tried this Sweetgreen location for the first time, and overall was not impressed. We placed our orders through the app for in-store pickup, and upon arriving, noticed a large crowd of people gathered around the pick-up shelves. This appeared to be driven by the fact that they were behind on their orders, so people had to wait past their pick-up times to collect their food. Upon grabbing our orders, my wife thankfully inspected and noticed that one of the lids was not sealed tight, and would not seal at all. When inquiring with the staff, this was apparently due to their "new" lids that do not seal properly. This is definitely a supply ordering issue, and it was a good thing that my wife caught this, or we'd have risked her order flying all over the car before we even got home. Thankfully some tape resolved this matter, but this should have been applied by default if they knew their lids were mismatching, and not only when asked. When we got home and opened our orders up, my salad was completely missing its dressing that I had requested on the side. Fortunately, we were at home, so I simply grabbed some of our own dressing. But this would have resulted in some dry salad had we been out or at work. Reading some of the other reviews, missing dressing and ingredients seem to be a common theme at this location. Parking is available in their private lot out back. However, the lot is very small, with very limited spaces available. There is a 15min time limit in the lot, however I'm fairly sure it's not enforced. read more

Really wasn't impressed with my fish taco salad, but maybe I just ordered wrong. It was another short staff lunch day at work, and my employee wanted something "healthier" this time around. We looked up salad options nearby and Sweet Green popped up. I had actually been wanting to try Sweet Green for a while now. I've passed it numerous times on my drives through Berkeley and have always heard great things about their food. We ordered two salads (the fish taco salad and harvest bowl) through Doordash and the delivery came quickly with no issues. My employee actually really enjoyed her harvest bowl and raved that it was very flavorful with a great tasting dressing. Unfortunately for me, that wasn't the case. I ordered the fish taco salad and It tasted extremely bland. The fish came naked with literally no seasoning on it. This actually wasn't a huge deal as I assumed that the dressing would spice things up a bit. I was wrong. The green dressing was too light and flavorless. They actually provided some sort of red spicy sauce which I normally wouldn't use, but this salad was dying for some taste. I added the red sauce to the salad, but it didn't help at all. In fact, it was all I could taste since everything else was so damn bland. They also put too much quinoa and not enough greens. It needed some more of salsa or beans... or something. The "chips" that they provided tasted cheap and stale. The only really good things about this salad was that the avocado was fresh and it was actually filling. I was hangry so I did eat it, but it was so tasteless. Maybe I should have gotten the harvest bowl too because that fish taco salad was a major miss. I'm a sucker for salads. I remember I was the guy hogging the salad bar back in primary school. I learnt that you have to order only through the app which I did and you get some credit when signing up. The place still does not open and one can't sit inside. You just say your name and they will give it to you. I believe one can sit outside but the layout of the place just has too much sun. My pick was the Summer Balsamic Chicken. The Parmesan crisp were the best. It married very well together with the fresh tasting ingredients. My salad was somewhat bitter and a little sad. I loved the basil a lot. I've been in line for 20 minutes now still waiting to order my food and leave. I'm disappointed in the service here and how long they make customers wait and ignore those waiting to just get their lunch/dinner. As of right now, they're operating as take-out only. You have to download and order online on their app, pick up your food at the window, and take it to go. My best friend and I decided to come here for lunch since she frequents this place and I had never been. As a huge salad girl, I was so happy to see how many salads they offered as well as the option to build and customize your own. The app allows you to modify anything as well as add a slice of bread for free. Since it was my first time I got one of their set salads, the Super Green Goddess--although they were out of the sweet potato. It came packaged and with one container of dressing on the side (you can have up to three dressings). The salad was fresh, the toppings were plentiful, and it tasted great all mixed together. My friend got the Shroomami which she modified. We both found the salads to be filling. Conveniently located in Downtown Berkeley, it's easily accessible to all. Parking is street only, but we chose to walk. Since we ordered online, it took about 20 minutes for our order to be ready. We decided to eat our salads at the tables they have available outside. Okay!! So listen up! I'm a long time fan of sweetgreen in general! I love their business model and what they're trying to achieve! yesss it can get pricey! BUT (and it's a big butt) The price only reflects the quality of ingredients, it's hard to find a place with organic and made fresh products! The Berkeley stores pretty small compared to the other stores but the insides always a vibe With how busy they get and how big the store is I feel like they're like the little engine that could they're amazing though. The team is always super nice and helpful, the foods always great! The doordash people get annoying when they get in the way or cut in front of me to ask about an order orrrr they take all the parking! Anyways! I got a notification for their new steak and so I had to come by to get one! I got the caramelized steak plate and my honey booboo got just a side of sweet potatoes and a treat! The steak... omg super tender! Super juicy and flavorful! And the portion is waaayyy more than I thought it would be I feel like the pesto goes okay but another sauce would be better? maybe like a garlic butter vinaigrette type thing, I think the pesto is supposed to be like kinda a chimichuri type deal but it was great! My only other criticism would be all the pictures show sliced steak and it comes like cubes! So maybe more pictures of how it actually looks when they cut it! I got the chance to try a super green goddess since my workplace again ordered lunches for us from Sweetgreen. The broccoli isn't that spicy - I could handle it fine as someone who only can handle mild level of spice - but I do appreciate that it has some flavor to it. I'm also not fond of the shredded cabbage, beets, or carrot personally but fortunately the proportions aren't super high due to the numerous different ingredients. The kale and spinach was fine and not terribly bitter by themselves but the green goddess ranch is yummy (isn't just plain ranch sauce) and makes these leafy greens much better. My favorite parts were definitely the black lentils and the sweet potato. Since the raw almonds are packaged in a separate cup, you can eat them separately or mix them into the salad. The sauce also comes in a separate cup with lid which helps with avoiding leaks or spills when you're carrying around the food. Overall, I'd say it was pretty decent as someone who doesn't often like salads. read more

Their salads and bowls have pretty sizeable portions along with fresh vegetables and dressings that never miss. Seriously, I'm the type of person who likes eating salad without the dressing (yes, I'm a part of THAT select few), but sweetgreen's spicy cashew dressing is proof that God exists. To be honest, I'd eat here more often, but the prices are on the steep end (especially if you order options with meat) which prevents me from incorporating sweetgreen's fare into my daily diet. The only other con is that this place is takeout only. But, they do offer outdoor seating, so be prepared to layer up if you decide to go with that option.
