A big group lines up to order coffee after our 2.5 or 4-mile runs, and Noble Joe always provides quick and friendly service. They have seasonal specials like Coconut Vanilla Chai, Salted Maple Mac Latte and Mango Matcha. The open seating area with tables and benches, is spacious enough to accommodate a large group. "Empowering people through Coffee" is an apt motto. Every cup of "Joe" helps to empower someone in need. Each purchase helps fund micro-loans for aspiring entrepreneurs, and they donate to various local Austin nonprofits. And every product they serve is sourced from other local, small businesses in Austin.

This bar in the past year has been known to have tried to call police on a woman who was being harassed by the bar staff there instead of reporting their staff themselves or speaking out against the way they speak to women. This same bar staff member that harassed this woman that The Buzz Mill then tried to report for criminal trespassing AS THE VICTIM BEING HARASSED instead of their bar staff also casually mentioned his 'mandingo' according to he and urban dictionary to me in just casual conversation passing when I wasn't interested in this man at all. I was sexually assaulted (TW: raped) by regular customers there that the bar rations out their own liquor pitchers for, but the women they assault get blamed for getting assaulted when the bar gets investigated for yes, literal rape. Then afterwards, friends of The Buzz Mill began driving after me screaming "fuck you" at me out of cars and also pretending like they were getting out of the cars after pulling up next to me until I was running away from them. Truly sick place - it does not bring safety or community to the Austin area. This bar is a trash hole place with nothing good to offer the community. Nothing gets accomplished for the community here out of the goodness of the staffs heart that isnt then used by them to slam cocaine and liquor while bullying local people of the city. If you like or enjoy being abused by people on far more drugs than you, give this trash hole staff a visit! read more

The Buzz Mill is alright, and just alright. It's great that it's open 24 hours a day. Also, the location was really convenient for me, when I lived over on east Riverside and Oltorf. But there is this one barista, I will not say his name, nor give a physical description of him, but he was just awful, every time I dealt with him. It didn't matter what time of day it was, if the place was busy or slow, he was just nasty--every time. He was thoroughly rude, inattentive, and put off an air that said, "I'm just so cool, I don't have time for you consumerist pigs." As a matter of fact, I only saw the man behaving in any sort of remotely pleasant demeanor was when he was there, at The Buzz Mill, hanging out with a group of his friends, all drinking Hamm's, "looking" cool, and putting off a vibe of such great pretentiousness that it was like listening to nails on a chalk board. I do like the Bloody Marys there, and the coffee is alright, and the BBQ out back is very good. There was more I wanted to write as positive about The Buzz Mill, but the unnecessarily unpleasant experiences I had with said barista just really ruined the experience for me. And there are at least a dozen accounts in which I--consistently--had a terrible interaction with the guy. It's not even like he's being DIRECTLY rude, like copping some kind of New York City attitude, I am fine with that. It was his needless posturing that burned more than a direct insult. read more

This is one of my favorite spots in Austin -- not just because every single drink is delicious and the atmosphere is so much fun, but because they do so much good for the community. They're constantly hosting fundraisers and giving a portion of their specials to a worthy cause. They have a Lumber Society that is sort of an adult boy/girl scouts. You can join a troop, and each month they host events and a different outdoor skills class, such as fire building, knot tying, or bow-and-arrow-making. Plus they have nature trivia and bingo as well as many other events. They're really, really focused on being a community center and giving back to the "Neighborwoods", as they call it. They make amazing drinks, from house-made cider to house-infused spirits to coffees, and it all tastes great. There are lots of food trucks and a huge patio to sit outside and enjoy the log-cabin atmosphere. It's such a great place to hang out, one of those awesome coffee-shop-and-bar at the same time, where you can study or have a few drinks. Plus it feels great to support a business that is doing so much good. read more

This has got to be the most homophobic and misrepresented bar in Austin, TX. I have casually arrived at this bar three or four times, sometimes with friends and sometimes without friends. Every single time, the bartenders and their hetero-centric customers enjoy making fun of the occasional "faggot" and "sissy boys" who attempt to patronize their establishment. They don't bother to warn people (like me) that they have no interest in our patronage, and that we shouldn't be spending time in their bar. Instead, they just wait until I express my discomfort to them, and they act surprised that such a homophobic thing would ever happen in their presence. And it may be that their supervisor is dictating these attitudes to them, because their supervisor may be ten times more homophobic than they are. But we'll never know unless they or their supervisor comes forward.... read more

I have to say, in my extensive experience patronizing bars in several states, I have never purchased a (not cheap) alcoholic beverage at last call, only to have it poured out in front of me once it was 2 AM. But that is exactly what happened here. I wish I had caught the name of the man who was going around, rushing everyone to finish their drinks at 5 minutes until 2 AM, because never in my life encountered such an incredible douche in the service industry. The individual was a tall, white male, who looked to be in his late twenties/early 30s, and slightly resembles a thumb (which I'm sure reallyyyy narrows it down in this gentrified hipster dump). Shame on the bartenders for selling me pricey beer without warning me before that some cracker ass would pour it out in front of me. Don't give this place your money. read more

If Ron Swanson was a bar, he would be The Buzz Mill. They've given me some awesome memories, and not-so-hard hangovers. Never mind that they have also shown their customers awesome gestures on particular nights. The music is never bad and I personally do not mind the stink of burning wood outside. I'm not much for Bloody Mary's, but they seem pretty adherent to them. I can appreciate that. Its like a buffet of radness. Even for the spectators. The bartenders more often than not are pretty chill. And when a hangover decides to visit, I can cruise on by for power coffee and some groovy brunch. The east side is changing. #DOGFRIENDLY #infusedliquor #taxidermy I would give this place 5 stars IF the coffee selection was a bit better. It's not terrible, and the coffee is good, it is just a little limited. But the alcohol selection here is off the chain! They really take pride in their infused liquors and have a unique collection to show for it. The infused strawberry-lime tequila and the spicy pill pickle vodka are two of my favorites. I love the atmosphere here! The rustic theme and scattered taxidermy give this place an extra cozy feel. The 4 stars is for the potential...free skee ball, bbq, beer, a stage... I need to go back on a more happening night. Things they need to improve.... Beer selection... where is the heineken (or st paulies or holland or corona light)... it was cold and the outdoor part had no heating.... those stand up heaters you see all over are suprisingly cheap so they need to get those or make some fire pits...PUSH THE BBQ.. i didn't try it but i can tell by the pits the bbq is going to be awesome.... I love the Buzzmill! So great to have an alternative to the regular 24 hour places that have had a monopoly on all night coffee for so long! These guys have a great selection of infused whiskeys and recommended a black tea and peach whiskey when my sister and I went one evening, and it is possibly my new favorite thing. Dog friendly patio, which is nice because I take my dogs to Town Lake right nearby and like to stop in for a drink on the way home. BlueOx Barbecue out back is a super great addition. read more

I love this place, and the Blue Ox which is connected with it. They've got good drink prices, and they serve alcohol every minute that they're legally able to. Try a straight shot of their jalapeno/habanero infused vodka if you real. It'll definitely change your night and the next morning. I wish they had a separate line for coffee and booz. I call this place the Buzzkill..Extremely rude staff ever since the first day I set foot in the place.. pretty much a hang out for pretentious hipsters which includes the bartenders. The BBQ is the only thing worth a damn but at the prices that may not even be worth it... I work at a bar and this place is completely lacking in the hospitality dept.. Buzz Mill is okay, but I wouldn't go beyond that. Seating can be hard to come by sometimes. A few of the baristas suffer a terrible case of pretension. The team members…read more(staff) are understanding and helpful, much like the feeling of a hotel where effortless hospitality is the only focus. The patrons are a mixed bag. Some leave their dogs on the overly nice furniture, leaving fur behind. It doesn't bother me, but I can understand how it would bother others looking at this as a restaurant, instead of what it is, a daytime coffee lounge and an evening cocktail bar. If it were just a coffee shop, there wouldn't be enough outlets, and there should be more pastries. If it were just a bar, it'd be a little too bright in the daytime, and the laptop workers (me included) would hurt the cool cocktail vibe...BUT it's not just those two things. It's both, and they do a remarkable job of accommodating everyone while maintaining a chill vibe. Seriously, everyone has surprised me with how nice they are here, and we're lucky to have something so architecturally significant with high-end indoor/outdoor furniture. This could just be another $$$ restaurant that detracts from the city's culture rather than adding to it.

The lush greenery and trees make the venue visually appealing. In addition, a food truck park is across the walkway creating more interest. Joint outdoor seating is also shared with the food truck park. You can easily toggle between the food trucks and Cosmic. In addition, since there is so much outdoor space, the venue appears to be dog friendly. The drink menu has quite a lot of variety. In the early morning hours, you have the opportunity to drink lattes, espresso or cold brews paired with pastries. As the day continues, you can add to the drink menu wines, beer and cocktails. I had hibiscus tea with a croissant...both delicious. That morning, I was the only customer, so I had dedicated service. Will have to return in the evening...

The Cosmic Saltillo location is our go-to because it's walking distance from our home. This original location is amazing. Love the both so much. I like that there are food truck onsite, lots and lots of outdoor seating, koi pond, chickens, certified green spaces, and so much more. It's like being at the greatest campground ever. The interior is spacious. The entire place is welcoming and friendly. Super service. Super cocktails. Super coffee. Super other drinks. You see where I'm going, right? I love it here!

Coffee? Good every. single. time. Vibe? The best. There's not a bad seat in the place. Both inside and outside are so enjoyable to hang out in. They even have a great wine selection and do wine in the evening. You will not be disappointed at Strangelove.

Luckily this place was dog friendly inside and out. I walked in to discover a cool bar slash coffee shop. They had many beers on tap and a wide range of seating with a bohemian style. My baby had a great time looking for crumbs but the place is kept very clean. The bartender was super nice and friendly. Not sure if they have wifi but a few were glued to their laptops. The beer I selected was very good. No food is served for reason two food trucks outside. Outside there were seating areas by an outdoor pit and under giant oak trees. I see this a great place to hang out when the temps drop cuddling next to a fire sipping on something warm or cold.

I got a tea since the decaf coffee bean grinder was broken and I was looking for a non-caffeinated option. Rosella herbal - This tea almost reminds me of a passion tango tea from starbucks because it has a tad bit of sourness and notes of a tart hibiscus or cranberry taste. I need to come back and try their other items like the matcha, food items, and coffee to see if it can regain a star.
