    Thai Tea and Thai Smoothie
    Chris F.

Absolutely loved this place, could easily see it becoming my go to boba spot if I lived in Austin. I ordered the Thai Tea and my my partner ordered the Thai Smoothie. Not only did my drink taste absolutely amazing, but it was so consistent in its greatness. Every sip was just as great as the last and it made me super excited to try all the other tasty sounding drinks on their menu. In my partners words, "this Thai Smoothie saved my life". The workers and the aesthetics were also exceptional. They were super polite and the drinks came out extremely quickly. The overall vibe of the place was also great. I don't think I've ever felt that level of comfiness from a place I don't call home, and the inclusion of board games is always a very welcome bonus!

I was looking for boba around the area and stumbled onto this newly-opened boba place, so you know I had to come check it out! Right from the moment you enter, the ambiance is well-light and spacious -- great spot for groups or even a study session. They offer a wide range of flavors and teas, including some unique ones that I haven't seen at other boba places, such as: Japanese Mango Kumquat Green Tea or the Fruit Orange Guava Tea. They even have sample teas you can smell before you order in case you were curious about the different smells/scents. The Iku Matcha Latte I ordered had an authentic matcha flavor and complimented well with their chewy, honey-infused boba. The staff was incredibly patient and helpful since I can get a bit overwhelmed with all the options when it's my first time haha. As a heads-up, for any of the fruit teas, you won't be able to adjust your sugar levels, but the teas naturally aren't super sweet based on trying out my friend's tea beverage. I'll definitely be coming back to try out some of their other flavors in the near future! :)

    Soft Opening - Menu

Gen Bobabee @ Coffee House is currently in its soft opening phase after taking over a corner suite at one of the retail spaces under the Bell South Shore apartments. Having previously lived in these apartments many years ago, I was always disappointed with how many of these retail spaces remained vacant since the location was so convenient by ladybird lake. I was excited to check out Gen and even more excited after trying their drinks. To start, there is ample parking located at the retail center both amongst the nearby apartment garages (Bell South Shore is all 3 buildings, each with a retail parking garage) as well as the retail center next door with the Mod Pizza, Pho Please, etc... The interior buildout is great, with light pine colored wood furniture and a fake red maple looking tree in the middle of the space. The corner suite has nearly floor to ceiling windows which allow for ample light so it feels like you're in an airy bright tree-house. The first thing you'll notice when you walk in is the smell of the teas - a great sign for a boba spot. The fresh floral scent was reminiscent of other top boba tea houses I've been to in Asia and the west coast and they have an exhaustive menu with various sweetness and topping options. The bobaristas were kind and helpful and the drinks they made were all insanely good. Frankly, this is probably the best boba place in Austin south of the river. I don't recall if they had a punchcard or rewards system which would be a disappointment if only because I know I'm going to be a regular here starting very soon.

New boba shop! Interior is super aesthetic as well as their cups-the lids with the ear were adorable! There is a huge menu with different and unique items. Every where I go, I get wintermelon. What stood out to me was their wintermelon slush-I have never seen that as an option anywhere else before. I was excited to try especially after a long, hot day at Barton Springs. The drink was amazing and refreshing! I enjoyed it a lot.

I'm always looking for non-coffee remote working locations and this one is a great option (and they have both coffee AND boba)! I try to find places with 1) good parking, 2) wifi and ample seating, and 3) a rewards system, and they have it all! Sometimes I'm wary to even share a place in case it gets too busy :p but there's so much seating that I wouldn't worry about it getting too crowded. The stamp card allows you to get a free drink under $7 after purchasing 10 drinks. A ratio of one free drink per 10 drink purchases is pretty standard, but limiting the value of the free drink is a bit parsimonious but perhaps a rewards system is better than none.

I like this place! The boba is exactly what you get at other boba places but that's good, hard to mess up maybe? I really liked the ambiance--super chill for bringing a laptop and the music is vibey. I'd totally recommend if you're in the area!

Cute spot! Drinks were great, I had the honey kumquat green tea and brown sugar milk tea. The cups were more solid than other boba places which I appreciated. It took a little bit to get but I think it's due to being new. Will be back again!

Closing out APIHM by supporting this great new local business! This was probably the best boba drink I've ever had. Their specialty menu is so in depth, and I watched them handcraft each drink with blenders, frothers, homemade syrups, etc. No powder used here! Everything is truly from scratch. I wish I knew what more of the toppings were like crystal boba, etc. I asked if that was regular boba but was told honey boba is what I was looking for. I need to research the menu better next time. Also if you want one topping it is 75 cents, but you can get a combo of 3 toppings for $1.75. The drinks sounded amazing and we loved browsing on the screen with photos. I went with the dirty brown sugar boba milk tea with almond milk and 25% sweetness. WOW 5 stars. I am going to be addicted to this place. My fiance got the tiramisu milk tea and we both are obsessed. They frothed up a concoction to make the cream topping and recommended getting it on top of coffee next time. Friendly and happy service. The shop is relaxing and calm with plenty of seats. We will be back soon! Awesome new business in the Riverside neighborhood.

A nice and refreshing spot for a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't crowded when I visited, and parking was easy to find. The two girls working were kind and helpful with recommendations. The tea was delicious, and the atmosphere feels calm and zen when it's quiet. Highly recommend!

I believe this one was mango (i'll update later).

Looking for boba in the area we settled on this place. We found a street parking very close. We ordered 7 drinks. Everything was really tasty but one drink had a full cup of ice despite asking for light ice. We even opened the lid to compare to the other drinks. The staff was nice and offered to replace the drink but with a tea or juice, not coffee due to some rule they have. I loved my drink the most as it had fresh fruit in it. Decor was minimalist and it the place was very clean.

Wide and creative selection of drinks! Not just your average milk tea options. Beautiful space with lots of seating, high ceilings and sunlight. Located kiddie corner from Chillantro

    Thai tea with boba

I was happy to see something came to fill in the spot under South Shore District, especially a boba shop! I have tried a few things here--hongkong, brown sugar milk tea, and Thai tea, all with boba and 25% sweet. The Thai tea is my favorite, I think it's the best I've tried! Cute ambiance as well. Highly recommend stopping by!

Neither of them could finish their entire glass of beer, so I ended up chugging the remaining half of both of theirs. The customer service was so sweet--I was struggling to translate the menu with my mom, and the guy at the front desk was truly helpful throughout. It really raised the experience of this place during what could've been a relatively stressful situation. Dirty Horchata - I was hoping for a stronger horchata taste. It's not bad, so it was worth the shot! Just grateful it wasn't too sweet. My BFF felt the same, as we're both horchata fiends from growing up in Chicago. Cherry Cider - The cider has a tangy taste. The cherry flavor isn't as strong, but it's a fragrant drink. The flavor slowly became sweeter the more I drank it. It grew on me, but it wouldn't be my go-to unless I knew I was munching on something salty that night. Violet Blueberry Blonde - My favorite of the two. This one has a tamer flavor with a nicer floral note. It was exactly what I asked for. I felt like I could've easily chugged a few of these. The guy at the counter definitely chose a great pick. I love the low-key ambiance of this place, the peaceful nighttime atmosphere, the fact that it's wedged into a cozy nook, and how it isn't so LOUD like many bars. Didn't get bit by a mosquito while we hung out there for an hour, so that's a huge plus. They were probably chewing on my friends' legs too intently to consider me, though. Wish I had something like this near my place in Houston. I would regularly hang out here on a weekday, no cap.

Tons of outdoor and patio seating, a few tables indoors in the AC. I ordered the Flapjack, hot, with double espresso in a larger cup, with half sweetness (effectively a large with less services). Delicious saltiness and cinnamon! I really enjoyed this. I tried the honey lavender latte which they said was the least sweet of their fort favorites. The lavender flavor was very forward and there was a hint of sweetness on the back of the tongue, so very accurate. I didn't get as much coffee flavor here so maybe double espresso if that's important to you. Friends also tried the seasonal coconut macadamia latte (they said it was nice, like a sweet nutty flavor). Really solid coffee spot with great vibes, I'd come back.

I live quite north so Noble Joes was a bit of a drive for me and honestly it's good coffee but a bit overhyped in my opinion. I bought two lattes - the seasonal blackberry crumble ($7) and the sugar cookie latte ($6), and although both had a good flavor, they both had all of the brown sugar that was supposed to be in them undissolved on the bottom and as best as I tried to dissolve it with the straw given, I had to wait until I was home (about 30 mins) to get a spoon to dissolve it. Personally I liked the sugar cookie latte the best! I would probably rate the coffee overall as a 7.5/10- definitely worth trying at least once! Service- 10/10 the baristas were very pleasant! Ambience - I really like the way this coffee shop was organized and all the decor and everything.
