Lots to choose from in both succulents and cacti. Amazing variety as well. Staff very friendly and most of the plants looked well cared for. Be advised though they do not take credit cards. Show choice is also important as the terrain can get pretty rough.

GREAT PLACE. One of a kind. They have plants here no one else has. The owner is an older guy who has always been helpful when I tell him what I'm looking for. I don't bring my kids here because everything can poke them. Duh. The prices are appropriate for the quality, rareness, assortment of plants. My whale tongue agave I bought here has tripled in size in the last 8 months. The Yucca is beautiful too. I sometimes just go here and walk around and look at stuff. Pretty incredible place. Worth the drive and spending a hour or two just looking at these beautiful plants. Love it. CASH/Check ONLY like Chicago

Spent an hour shopping Woulda spent $500 But they only take cash. Not marked anywhere What a waste of time

cash only, spent an hour here and it is not marked to be cash only. Very disappointing Waste of time

Great selection and prices. They have some awesome euphorbia specimens that are reasonably priced for their size. Check them out, you won't be disappointed!

Cactus king has the widest selection of cacti in Houston hands down ( that's why I give the 5 starts ) . It can definitely get pricey but you can still shop on a budget and go home happy . Would appreciate if the cacti were labeled with name and price ...

If I could give "0" I would. This is a picture of the Hoyas I received-unrooted cuttings that probably won't make it. I bought them as a surprise gift for my son and his girlfriend but would be embarrassed to give something like this as a gift in the condition received. The picture of the two together are a week after arrival. Once I received them, I texted pictures and asked for my money back. I received no response. When I called today regarding this, the owner who answered the phone was the rudest person I have ever had the displeasure of speaking with. Apparently the website says that they can ship cuttings which would be fine, if these were advertised as unrooted, dehydrated cuttings but they weren't. On top of this loophole, what is even more extremely poor business, is that they don't guarantee any of their shipped cactus, plants or succulents or offer returns or replacements. Ask yourselves if you want to do online business with a rude retailer who will take your money and ship out product with no guarantee or recourse. Guess this is why they take checks - so you can't dispute it on a credit card. There are plenty of other online nurseries who stand behind their merchandise and have wonderful customer service- do yourself a favor and frequent those instead! I seriously doubt The Cactus King has any online repeat business!

This is a truly amazing place to see in person. It's RIGHT off the highway and easy to miss. A truly stunning array of cacti and succulents. From tiny ones for $3 to ones that would require a crane. You will need to ask for service and when you do they will give it. CASH ONLY. We were there after the recent rain and freezing weather. They were hit hard, but still had great cacti and many in the indoor houses.

This place is really cool! They have various selections... I found all kinds of cactus my heart has longed for! I enjoyed walking around to see those cactus nursery! This place is a lot tidier and more organized than other nurseries I've been to...The guy speaking Spanish at the cashier is really friendly :) Plus, it's only 10 min away from where I live! Will be back for sure... Anyway, one of the cactuses I bought is turning pale at its base... Is it dying ? if so, there is a way I can save it ? Most of the times, they are indoors!

We had a great experience at Cactus King- not sure what the low reviews are all about. Their prices and customer service exceeded all expectations. Without us even asking, two guys wrapped up our cactus really well and loaded it in our truck, securing it for the ride home. Our cactus made it home safely because they did such a great job wrapping it up and putting it in place. The cactus we purchased was about 7 feet tall, and was $149. Not sure how you can beat that.

Come here knowing what you're looking for. The selection is extensive but the staff is just a few. The place can be confusing when it comes to navigation at first, but you'll gradually find what you are looking for. As other reviewers have pointed out, the prices here are outstanding compared to other nurseries in town. All of the flora looks very well cared for and would make a great addition to a home. Make sure you come here with cash or check, credit cards are a no go with these folks. I found myself scrambling down to the ATM during my first visit. During your visit, check out their greenhouse with smaller succulents. The majority looked lush and were priced so much better than anywhere else in Houston. Both plants I've purchased are doing really well and I plan on visiting again.

Unbelievable variety of succulents--small, large and ginormous. Prices for the smaller ones aren't bad. There are some that are hundreds of dollars. Lots of interesting folk art, too. This is right off highway I-45 and you can easily miss it. It's worth the stop. The area may have seen better days, but the different kinds of cacti is amazing. We spent an hour there just browsing. It will be a regular stop for us when we pass through Houston. (But we are a bit of cacti-philes.) They take cash only.

Great selection. Very helpful staff. I will definitely return when finishing my project. Best assortment of yucca and cactus hands down.
