It is got great hype, but it really isn't all that. They charge for valet and they also have a second fee of hospitality stay on top of your stay. So, you have 2 added charges on top of your hotel room. The hotel is old, they have just painted over everything to make it look good. The hotel is not as clean, the vent above the shower is got mold and it's all black inside and you can see it while taking a shower, which was a horrible experience. Overall a 2 star hotel for me. This is a great hotel and perfect for my business travel needs. It's on the Camelback corridor and conveniently located 15 minutes from the airport. The staff is always friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The rooms are modern and up to date. I love that they have a restaurant in the hotel that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a full bar. They have a workout facility and pool. The fitness room is nice and works for on the go travel needs. I've never used the pool. It looks a bit small but has a nice atmosphere. The best part is there are the same familiar faces when I travel and stay here. Makes for comfortable as friendly visit. read more

We decided to stay at Camby for our trip, and I was disappointed by the service. To start, our flight was a red eye, so were landing at 2 am - so we would've checked in late, and I called the front desk ahead of time to give them a heads up. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed, and we didn't land until 3 am, and once we got to our hotel around 330am, the front desk worker said she "no-showed" us. She was new and said she needed to learn how to make a new reservation, so she said to just come back in the morning to talk to the manager. The manager wasn't friendly, but he fixed our no-show fee and got it taken care of - I wish he were more friendly! The Camby has Valet parking which is great -- you can text them 10 minutes before you're coming down, and your car will be ready! The restaurant attached to the hotel also could have had better food. We got room service for two/three nights and honestly didn't enjoy the food! Although the rooms were clean and spacious, the bathroom floors had stains! If the service had been better, I would have enjoyed the stay more! read more

We booked this boutique hotel for a weekend trip to find the sun and escape the rain in Seattle. We arrived at 11pm after booking on the air, to find the double we reserved via Marriott was not available. We were able to make due with the couch in the room, with the hope for a double on Saturday night. We also learned the pool was to be closed for a private event on Sat night (part of the draw for us was the pool experience). The front desk was polite and offered breakfast for our party. Walking in, the lobby immediately greeted you with a clean floral scent. Decor is hip and upscale. The front desk did their best to accommodate Our king room was clean and smartly decorated, with bold blue accents. The ceiling above the bed was copper with snarky sayings, ours was "it's not that your lazy, you're on energy saving mode". The shower had great pressure. We dined in the restaurant, both for a night cap and breakfast. I would stay again. My experience would be 5 star except for our initial glitches. read more

A hotel across from a giant shopping center? Sold! What a location! The Camby was an obvious choice for me when flying out for a business trip. I'd heard it'd previously been a Ritz Carlton but had converted. Well, the shedding of the traditional Ritz vibe was certainly apparent. I could've down without some of the more avant-garde decor but at the end of the day, it's a hotel.... who am I to judge? My moo light worked just fine at illuminating my room after all. & I personally dug the self referencing chandeliers. My room was clean, quiet and spacious enough for that me! WiFi was fast. Check in was a breeze. My $5 quest bar was a bit steep at the hotel marketplace but I guess that's their cost of doing business. Would stay here again for sure. There are also a couple breakfast/lunch places within easy walking distance if you don't want to pay fancy hotel prices for eggs and such. The Camby is nicely appointed and the service was good but the last time I stayed here it was a Ritz-Carlton vs. one of the Marriott Autograph Collection hotels and I'd say that it's bit of a step down overall. Not worth it. This hotel is relatively reasonably priced compared to some of the resort hotels in the area, though I feel like they take the word "minimalist" to a new level, especially for what they charge. The hotel room was nice and clean, but it didn't come the amenities of a normal hotel in the same price range (I couldn't find any body lotion and didn't feel like calling down for some, there were no bottles of water in the room - I get thirsty overnight!). They also upcharge for things - parking is $35 per night! You can park by the nearby AMC for $16, but I wasn't too happy about paying for parking in general. They also have a fee ($100) if you want to bring your pets. It just seemed like a lot to add on for a $200 hotel room. On the plus side, their restaurant is pretty good! read more

The restaurant/bar has a terrible menu. I wanted a little something to eat with my cocktail and discovered there was pretty much nothing on the menu I could eat. The offerings were not appetizing and the kitchen would not customize anything to suit a person's needs. I am allergic to cilantro and could not get the Mahi tacos because the fish is marinated in cilantro. Apparently, they couldn't just use a piece of fish that had not been marinated. I also cannot eat spicy foods which eliminated a great deal of the menu because spice could not be omitted or sauce could not be served separately. I finally opted for the veggie panini but asked to leave off the Kimchi in case it was spicy as Kimchi often is. I was told that was not possible. When I got the panini I could see why. Each ingredient was not separate. It was all a mush of finely chopped items. I was quite hungry so I took a few bites. I needn't have worried about the kimchi being spicy, I couldn't even tell it was in there. It was not tasty, very bland and the flavors of the veg not apparent. I'm sure there are people from all over the country if not all over the world that stay at this boutique hotel. This menu offers absolutely nothing for the varied dietary needs or preferences of a majority of those people. I have been to a great many Phoenix restaurants from diners to very high end exclusive restaurants. This is the worst restaurant for both the food selection and failure to take guests needs into consideration. I was told many guests had made comments along these lines. As a business traveler, I am not looking for luxury, but I need things to work smoothly. At this hotel there were a bunch of little things that were poorly maintained... The shower curtain rod was sagging so badly the shower curtain wouldn't stay closed and kept showing back to the sagging middle. The wifi was missing and when I tried to call the front desk I discovered the phone didn't work either. When I finally got a good if the front desk they told me to call their Internet provider. Seriously? You want me to take my time fixing your problem with your vendor? I passed and used my hotspot instead. But the real frustration is upon check-in the discovery of an almost 10% mandatory "property fee". I hate businesses that aren't transparent and take advantage of situations where the customer is backed into a corner. I would have still visited the hotel had the room rate included the fee to start with, and wouldn't have felt so negative about it. But advertising one cost and then hitting the customer with hidden fees...I just don't like it and will do everything I can to avoid staying here again in the future. I really enjoyed this hotel. It was in a great location, it's a beautiful property, the room was very clean, and the price was right. The only negative was the $32/night valet only parking. The staff was very friendly and all wore masks which was great. The swimming pool is on the second floor so it's a "rooftop" pool and lounge area with a lot of space. Unfortunately, the pool is only ~3'8" which was weird. I saw a bunch of folks just sitting on the edge with their feet in the water. It's not useful for much else. They did have bikes you could rent which I did not take advantage of and apparently you can rent a record player and vinyls as well. Didn't take advantage of that either. The bed was very comfy and my view from room 709 was excellent. I could see the sun rising over the mountains in the morning and setting behind them in the evenings. The Artizen restaurant was great for cocktails and coffee in the morning. I didn't try the food though. You can walk across the street to Biltmore Fashion Park if you want different food options plus shopping. Parking over there is free and there is a tunnel to walk under the street from hotel to shopping mall. About a mile and some change down the road is more shopping, more food. I would stay here again, you won't regret it. read more

Um, it was a really mid experience. For how fancy it appears from the remnants of The Ritz, you expect more, but it was just okay. I booked it using my Marriott points and you'd think the stay would largely be free because of that, but they sneak in a "destination fee" whatever that is and it racks up a large amount. Why stay loyal and use points if I'm going to experience highway robbery anyway? I was ok with the overnight parking charge and room service, of course, but tacking on a total of $100 + other fees is so unnecessary and really kind of ruined the end of the trip for me. Especially since clearly those fees aren't being used for upkeep. The biggest plus was the restaurant/bar. The food was great and the service was great. I also want to give a big kudos to the front desk worker who was still working while pregnant. I wish she could have had maternity leave, but y'know, capitalism. read more

This was formerly the Ritz Carlton and its hey day was an extravagant luxurious European inspired beautiful place to stay. When it was the Ritz they had doorman to welcome you in and polished courteous pros to check you in. Have I been gone that long? This Biltmore corridor is not what it use to be. If you want a real boutique hotel stay at a classy Kimpton. This is a Las Vegas reject. As a matter of fact, I'd send you to Circus Circus before letting you stay here. From the odd bellman to the stoic front desk agent to the sketchy patrons it was like Alice in Wonderland meets The Rappers Un-delight. No thanks! Even Wonder Mike would take his Hip Hop self and The Furious Five on outa this rabbit hole! Don't bring a family here either. Ratchet wannabes in the lobby. Arnold Mcculler Just drove from Albuquerque to Phoenix on concert tour with James Taylor my band for the last 50 years, I'm 72, and needed to rest after the long drive. I'm traveling and studying drug an alcohol counseling simultaneously. Internet is imperative since it's our prime form of communication today. My room was not equipped with internet access, and after my 6am arrival the room was finally changed down the hall at 8am. Now this room along with broken telephone handsets has no air conditioning. I tried to rest but ordered from the front desk a breakfast to help me relax. No answer. The front desk agent took the order. After 30 mins I called for the update and it was never placed. I'm not an impatient guy but for traveling artist the hotel is our safe haven. The food just arrived. Covid delivery style. Super eclectic and fun decor, this Autograph boutique hotel is located in a nice area of Phoenix across from a shopping center with shops and hotels. Our room was spacious, clean and the electric theme continued. A bull head when turned on illuminated the word MOO, scenic murals and unique furnishings definitely led Camby to stand out from your standard hotel. A bar and restaurant located in the lobby was also very good. Gym was surprisingly well stocked with good workout machines and weights. They also have a spa, but I didn't go. Like somehow becoming a Royal overnight. Everyone smiles when they see you, the courtesy bestowed upon you is almost embarrassing and everything seems just a bit more precious. Seriously, I can't say enough about the staff. I had a 4:45 am call with Sweden. The night manager (John?) took me to a quiet room off the lobby to complete my call - helped me find a secret outlet - and turned down the super swank music so I could hear. My daughter slept like an angel as a result, and the Swedes heard my every word. We had breakfast at Artizen. To mess up breakfast would be worth a beheading. The eggs, either scrambled or in an omelet, should have earned a Knighthood for the chef. Simple but delish. Susan, our server, deserved to be made a Duchess. When she discovered we traveled on a daddy-daughter weekend, Susan gave us the Royal treatment. What a pleasure on a cool Phoenix morning to experience such warmth so early in the morning. There's nothing quite like the call one gets when an upstairs neighbor goes off his meds and, with major weaponry, holds the entire neighborhood hostage. Yup. That's what happened to me. (I should add that at the conclusion of this adventure, as I entered my complex, I quickly counted at least 40 police officers. Forty. To catch one guy without killing anyone. I guess that's good. You shouldn't have to die because you're hearing voices.) So, having watched at least 12,000 episodes of Law and Order, I do know these hostage-things can -- CAN -- go on for a very long time. Not always, but they can go on...and on this night, after two or three hours I caved in, got a hotel room at The Camby. Seemed like the over-the-top luxury one needs on a night like this. No luxury at all. The one time glorious respite for the rich and famous is a former Ritz Carlton. Even though I ended up spending less than three or four hours at this hotel I can tell you this: there's nothing left of The Ritz and I couldn't find one amenity. Not one. NOT AVAILABLE IN MY ROOM: * no microwave (naturally I picked up food on the way) * no minibar * no menu of any kind Ok. No late-night menu, but no morning eggs? * No comfort sleeping. Who, in management, thought this rock-of-a-mattress was comfortable? It is not. * No greeting upon arrival. The valet should be told my arrival wasn't an interruption or bothersome. It's why he's there. I've read the reviews here, mist very positive. I'm wondering what they're referring to? The interesting artwork isn't fulfilling enough to replace ALL AMENITIES or Eggs Benedict. The only thing I can think of to recommend this place is the location, and I'm not even sure that I would recommend it for that. I'd go downtown Phoenix. Sheesh. My guess is the downtown Hyatt, whom I disparage all the time, COVID-notwithstanding, they HAVE ROOM SERVICE. Around 2am, a neighbor called: all clear. So I left. My bed isn't hard. And my TV programming is better. Never mind I was billed 2x what I was quoted. Stay away from this incredible mediocrity. You're better off with $69 Motel Hell, knowing ahead of time precisely what you're not getting. We booked a last minute staycation here at the Camby I have always been curious about this place since it changed over from the Ritz Carlton to the Camby. I really like the mix of classical elegance mixed with funky cool new school funkiness. We stayed in the room most of the afternoon. I like that they have the Showtime and HBO app on their TV's. Service at this hotel is top notch. The only downside is the 33.00 a day for parking as they only offer valet. Great neighborhood lots of restaurants within walking distance. read more

We were in town for a family event and decided to treat ourselves to one night at this trendy hotel. A few highlights before the review: 1) Parking is valet only at $30+ a night but there are bikes available if you're feeling adventurous! 2) Pool and Gym are 24 hrs! 3) This place is hip with YUMMY food! On to the review! We got an amazing rate on AAA & decided to stay on a Friday night... You can tell from the moment you pull up that they're gearing this towards trendy millennials however it's a hodge podge of folks that stay here. Behind the desk is a music room with acoustic guitar and records that'll connect to your room. The guest shop is a little pricey considering there's a huge shopping center across the way- go there instead. The decor in the room and hallway are Cowboy/Southwest meets modern quirky meets old Ritz Carlton. It was a different kind of luxurious. We snacked and drank at the Artizen, and THAT'S where the this place gets even more interesting. There were 2 older men arguing about Fox News alongside young trendy college grads sipping on fancy cocktails. It's a mix match of America. The drinks were amazing as was the prosciutto flatbread. Staff- super attentive and friendly! We would definitely stay here again! read more

The camby is located a good 20 min from Phoenix airport, across from a pretty sizable mall and near a number of decent restaurants (all driving distance though). When you pull up, you'll notice it's not the most grand of hotels as well (though this is Phoenix) The Camby has a fairly eclectic / modernist interior (though the bar is more typical bar decor). Artwork is very interesting, and front desk is very hip - imagine W but less neon. Front desk staff was very efficient and nice, check in was quick and easy with no line. The rooms themselves are decently sized with a sofa, large comfortable bed, and good sized TV. However, the rooms are a bit dated in my opinion since the furniture seems worn, but could just be the room. The artwork on the ceiling is great. Wifi worked well, bathroom was decently sized (though no slippers!). The gym was mediocre for the property, but the machines worked and it was empty so no complaints. A lot of good hotels in Phoenix though, and not sure Camby is worth going back. read more

Let's be fair........the hotel is nice and clean lobby with all the aspects of being an upper-tier hotel. The prices certainly reflect the own perception! Here's the thing, I cannot stand traveling to Phoenix during spring training! All hotels home their prices due to the larger income of people for the event. We call this "gouging"! But hey, that's capitalism at its worst I suppose! We can to Phoenix to visit our kids and celebrate our grandchild's fourth birthday. Our kids from another state surprised us by also coming and they stayed at some fleabag downtown. Well, we are not going to have our girls stay down there so we got them a room here. Being retired military, I asked for a discount for the second room. They oblidged. When provided the keys for our rooms, we were provide "extras" that came with the room. However, for the room that received the military discount, there no extras. This pissed me off! Why not military members? Believe me, the discount was not that big and it's not like two drink vouchers and a $25 food voucher would've broke their bank! Very disappointing. If it's good for one, it should good for all! Then.....the girls wanting to go to the pool break out the robes that are provided and find one with a very questionable stain in the butt area and a red stain on the other robe at the neck area. Who cares what it may be.....clean them!!! If they are stained, can't be cleaned, throw them away!! If you tout upper-shelf, then BE upper-shelf! We still have all day today and tomorrow for our stay so we'll see how this goes down but, yes, I am going to be very aware of everything now. More to follow if there's more stupidity. This place is unfortunately mediocre, and I didn't have very high expectations to begin with. Hubby and I wanted a last minute staycation so we booked a night somewhere different than our usual resort picks. The rooms are very clean and have nice contemporary artwork and furnishings. You can rule out a morning at the pool. The pool hours are 10-8! Checkout is 11 so you can't even get in much pool time before you leave. I'm sitting here right now at 11am on a Sunday and not a staff member to be found. The pool "bar" looks like something you'd find at a YMCA and no one is in it. Too bad because I would crush a Bloody Mary right now to drown out the kids screaming in the pool right now. The pool is about the size of a kiddy pool and has cracks and dirt on the bottom. It would feel so claustrophobic if there were more than 10 people in it. I woke up craving some breakfast in bed but not a room service menu was to be found. There aren't even water bottles in the room to make a coffee from the meager table stocked Keurig. We decided to eat at Artizen (only breakfast choice) and I ordered avocado toast. For $18 I would have loved any bread but toasted sliced bread. Unfortunately it was just that. I went to the gym and it was like an apartment gym. You can get a workout in but there is nothing to write home about. So... here I am, at the pool, wishing the bar was open and thinking of ducking out early ....this would not make my short list of places to stay in AZ unless I was just in it for a clean room, bed, and walking distance to the Biltmore. read more

I really enjoyed my visit at The Camby when I stayed there a few nights ago. At one time this was a Ritz and they changed it to Marriott Autograph Hotel in late 2015. They are working out some kinks (as expected when you do a revamp), but the staff is super friendly, helpful, and well on their way to making this a great destination. I had a great room with plenty of room...upgraded bathroom and bed with a great mountain view. They have an above average workout area with updated equipment....enough cardio machines..and plenty of room. They also have an on site restaurant that served a great breakfast and a cool lounge for some late nite cocktails. The lounge is still working through their cocktail menu, but they should have that up and running soon. The pool table in the side room is a very nice touch. Would I stay here again when I'm in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area....absolutely!! read more

I've stayed here a few times and it's a trendy, quirky hotel. The people at the valet and front desk are always friendly. The valet stand has water and the person at the front desk offered to go out and get me some when I asked if there was a place to get water. The restaurant has a good happy hour, but I've never had a full meal there. They also do room service. If you don't want to eat at the hotel, there are quite a few restaurants across the street at the mall. The pool area is nice and the person working there made sure there were towels on the chairs and she even gave everyone ice water. You don't see that at every pool. My only negative was housekeeping. I felt like overall the room was clean, but I left a used washcloth in the shower my first morning and it was there when I came back at the end of the day. The next day, I tossed my towels on top of the washcloth. The towels were picked up, but the washcloth was left. Very weird. read more

I had never heard of the Camby until 3 days before my wedding day. My fiancé and I were supposed to get married in London May 2020, however COVID-19 travel bans and lockdowns had forced us to not only cancel our wedding, but also meant that we were in different countries on the day of our wedding. My fiancé was in London and I was in Phoenix. My bridesmaids got a room for me at the Camby on the day of my wedding. A kind gesture that I appreciated but ultimately I knew it wouldn't fill the void of being away my fiancé on our wedding day. Before check in, my fiancé planned to have flowers sent to the hotel. My Dad dropped off the flowers and Michael was there to greet him at the front desk. My dad told Michael about our situation and Michael immediately called his supervisor and asked if they would upgrade me. When I arrived at The Camby later that day, Michael said nothing when I checked in. I went upstairs and found myself in a stunning suite, immaculately designed with gorgeous views of the mountain and the Biltmore. On the coffee table, the Camby staff had arranged the flowers my fiancé had sent and also included a complimentary bottle of Prosecco. I was confused and equally floored by the gesture so I called down to the front desk to see what mistake had happened. Michael then explained that the hotel had heard about our cancelled wedding and had upgraded me to a suite and sent me a bottle of Prosecco. One of the things I learned when I spent my wedding day alone in the Camby is that sometimes we can't have the things that we really want. It can be heartbreaking and soul-crushing. But when strangers show outrageous acts of kindness in those dark moments, it creates a lasting impression. It all feels a bit less lonely. I can't recommend the Camby enough. The staff is kind, considerate and deeply empathetic. I've never said that about a business before.... the staff is empathetic. The hotel is gorgeous. Everything about the decor, the pool, the bed, the shower/bath-all divine. It's walking distance from great restaurants and shopping. Come here! I promise you won't be disappointed. I know that someday when my fiancé and I are finally able to get married and return to AZ, we will also go back to the Camby. I'm always excited when I come to Phoenix because I really love the area so when I arrived at the airport I was immensely in a great mood. Well, my mood only got better when arrived at The Camby. What a beautiful hotel. Simple yet stunning look upon arrival. A door man greeted me the staff at the front desk was quite helpful. I arrived well ahead of normal hotel check-in times so the gentleman behind the desk took my contact info so he can call when my room is a ready. An associate took my luggage to stow away. To kill time, I visited their restaurant, The Artizan for a quick coffee. I didn't get the appearance the place was open but they were eager to serve me an iced coffee and didn't mind that I lounged around to work on my computer. A delicious iced mocha coffee was sitting in front of me within a few minutes. When I went to go pay, the lady working told me not to even worry about it and she took care of it. When I finally got to my room (I only waited 20 minutes), I was impressed once again. It was a contemporary look that was full of color (which I've found that everything in Phoenix is earth toned). My bathroom was clean and the shower was spacious. My king size bed was comfortable. There were plenty of wall outlets and USB chargers [that actually worked!]. I had a view of the pool from my 7th floor room along with views of other pretty buildings with mountains in the background. Sleeping was no problem as I didn't hear any outside noise. Here's what really got me. I attended a dinner reception in the pool area/rooftop on the second floor and the food was absolutely amazing. Raw oysters, prime rib, smoked salmon, an assortment of meats and cheeses, and lobster that was cut in half so all you had to do was pick out the meat. I'll also mention that the pool area was so nice and relaxing with views of buildings around you. Places like this make me want to experience boutique hotels more than your standard Hilton/Marriott families. I highly recommend staying at The Camby. Among everything that I've raved about, it's located in the heart of lots of shopping and restaurants, all within walking distance. read more

Came out for a staycation and well the wife and I are having a great time . Now about this spot . This spot is just a trendy location and not worth the stay . No bath tub in the room , small pool and the employees are so so . We will not be back or will not recommend . read more

The Camby, Autograph Collection - Hotels Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Used to be the Ritz right in the Biltmore square area. Now it's a Marriott property. Super great location, staff is superb, the property is immaculate. We were greeted by valet, the only way to park at the Camby ($35). They assisted with our bags as we went to the front to check-in. I had used my Bonvoy app to pre check in earlier in the day so our room cards were ready and the nice person as the front desk who greeted us thanked me for being a Marriott member. When we mentioned we were staying 1 night as part of a rare date night- our room was quickly upgraded to the 6th floor with an awesome view of Camelback Mountain. Great experience to say the least. The room was excellent. Nice size, comfortable bed and an awesome bathroom with a large step in shower and plenty of room to get around. The decorations and fixtures were a nice touch- sort of a modern western theme. There was a fake cow skull lamp affixed to the wall and, when turned on, it spelled "hello" in light below. There was a comfortable sitting sofa and a large frame window with those gorgeous views of Phoenix. You can check out a record player and vinyl to take to your room, which was a nice touch. There's an adjoining restaurant in the hotel that looked cool, but we never had a chance to make it. Apparently this is where visiting sports teams stay so the Raiders were on hand when we checked in. I guess most major league teams have contracts with Ritz and this property so they continue to stay even after the brand change. Take advantage of the summer rates, it's really worth it to get out for an evening two with a loved one and spend time together. We will be back! read more

Overall nice hotel to stay. Very well decorated and charm appeal from lobby, hallways, rooms, restaurant, pool to bars. Really well done. We stayed just recently and enjoyed the relaxation and fun games at the pool area. It was a bit chilly which made the pool area completely empty which was really nice! All to our selves :) the pool itself is a bit small but we weren't there for that. The rooms were spacious and clean with a very nice ambience. The bed was comfortable and I slept like a baby. The room was quality from top to bottom with nice seating area and upgraded bathroom. The gym was nice but holds my only grip about this hotel....it was very unkept. The exercise accessories were every where. It looked like a kid ran through and your everything down. Also there was not disinfectant wipes which to me is super gross considering the current virus situation. Bottom line: I will stay here again due to the beautiful ambience and comfortable rooms. However, my biggest suggestion to the hotel is keep up with the spa/gym as it looks very unkept especially considering the rest of the hotel. read more
