Always loved camping, but never had the equipment. In school it was easy to rent and or borrow from friends. Not so much since I moved. Started buying some basic stuff - tent and what not, but definitely do not have nearly close to what you need to go on a full on camping trip. Was planning a trip to California for a reunion with some college friends and everyone loved the idea of camping, but not everyone had the equipment. I would totally recommend the Camp Kit to anyone! I first used them for an overnight backpacking trip to Big Pine Lakes in the Eastern Sierras for my friend's 30th birthday. We are all modest backpackers, but traveling in from across the state, and flying with a backpack, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, cooking pots, a stove, a hammock and chairs (luxury backpacking is generally our style), a pillow, and coffee making essentials is not that fun for anyone! Luckily, a friend from Oakland had recently told me about the Camp Kit, and they were able to hook us up with literally everything I mentioned above. And not just worn, dirty, bottom shelf rental stuff like we usually have to deal with-- instead the Camp Kit only has top brand, super good quality backpacking gear from renowned companies like Nemo, MSR, Alite, Eno, and Osprey. We basically got to demo new backpacking gear, because everything the Camp Kit rented to us was this year's model, and relatively high end products that you can graduate into even from a novice backpacker. As a new backpacker on a 5-day trip to Glacier National Park, I had a terrific experience renting items The Camp Kit with my friends. My rented sleeping bag and sleeping pad kept me warm and comfortable at night (when it got quite cold). The two-person Nemo tent I was sharing was easy to put up and take down and keep in my large backpack pocket. The stove, pot, insulated cups, bowls, and utensils were great at meal times and easy to carry, and we found the water filter was very easy to use. The Camp Kit made it possible for me to head out on this trip without spending an extraordinary amount of money on brand new gear. We had it conveniently delivered to Montana and returned from there so I could just carry-on the rest of my belongings on flights. Too easy! Now that I know how much fun backpacking is (in part because the Camp Kit made it so easy!), I look forward to my next trip. When that will be, I am not sure due to my schedule and other travel pursuits, but I will absolutely use the Camp Kit again. I should start by saying that I've NEVER been camping in my life. So, when a group of friends proposed we set out to car camp in Washington a few weeks ago, you could say I was a bit intimidated. I have zero camping gear, no idea how to pitch a tent and don't have tons of money to go buy everything. That's where The Camp Kit came in saved the day. I stumbled upon the site and was so delighted to see that I could rent everything I could possibly need to camp, and it was super convenient and affordable. My Kit was delivered the night before I left and I'm not kidding when I say it had everything I could possibly need for a 3 day camping trip down to salt and pepper all conveniently packaged in a small plastic container. This totally exceeded our expectations! My husband and I spent our anniversary camping in Big Sur and rented the car camping kit. The gear was perfect for a casual, romantic trip. So nice to not worry about all the crazy details! We loved the chairs and all the cooking utensils for our fancy meals under the stars. Everything was packed so efficiently which made it easy to pick up and go to the next spot when we wanted. The best part, though was that we flew into SFO and the kit was delivered to us so we didn't have to even go into the city to pick up the gear! The Camp Kit is AWESOME! We got a 2 person car camping kit for a quick weekend getaway in Capay Valley, CA. The gear is high quality! The tent was so easy to set up, we didn't even need instructions. Megan was so great and dropped off our kit and picked it up, way easier than going somewhere, standing in line and signing a bunch of paperwork! I really love The Camp Kit for taking out of town guests to some of my favorite camping spots in California without having to own a bunch of gear. Also, I can't wait to try out the backpacking kit! I really love camping but unfortunately when I moved to the city I was forced to get rid of my gear due to lack of storage space (thanks SF!) I was sick of borrowing friends stuff so went to google and found The Camp Kit - life saver! Some fiends called me up for a last minute trip and Camp Kit was able to get me a kit within 48 hours. The Camp Kit saved my trip to Kings Canyon! I'm a semi-experienced backpacker and had friends coming into town who wanted to explore the amazing outdoor spots in the Bay Area.
