You enter and the place smells amazing! Atmospherically, otherwise nothing stands out. It's a fairly standard burger joint/bar with most of the seating outside. The service was really friendly and my food came out very quickly. Prices were reasonable and I didn't see a hugely extensive menu tho several of the burgers were unique without being outstandingly weird or out in left field. One thing I am DEFINITELY taking off a star for is charging a 3% surcharge to the customer to offset using a debit or credit card. I own a small business and I 100% feel like this is a cost of doing business and not something to pass on to the consumer. Or, if you're going to charge that kind of surcharge, let there be a purchase minimum, say 5 to $10. It annoys me when businesses do this. It seems needlessly "penny-pinchy" and if you're going to accept credit cards and debit cards for the convenience of the customer, that is what you accept as a business owner. My business accepts this as it cost to doing business, I absolutely feel like this is the cost of doing business by the owner, and I will die on this hill. That aside, the food was really good. Please make your own decision about this please and excuse my star rating. However, this is actually a really good and delicious place for a burger. You be limited on the selection of burgers and parking can be a challenge. This restaurant is located in heart of downtown Long Beach. It is a great location! Quite easy to find. Only downside and no fault on them. Parking is very limited and may find yourself driving around a little bit. They do not have a private parking lot in the back. Just available street parking only. They do have few handicap parking spots across the street from them. I know it may a little walk away from them but it is well worth it. This is not big place inside. But they do offer several tables outside. Recommend sitting outside when the weather permits. As you walk in, the staff is quick to greet you and mention that you are free to sit anywhere you like. They mainly offer just table seats. Hard metal seats with no padding. Only available padding lower seat at the bar. (Drink responsibly). If you are a 80's music lover, you definitely love the music selection. They do have classic cowboy tv show playing in the background LCD. They have the menu posted on the wall. I took a picture of it since we were sitting on the other side of restaurant. We were quickly greeted by Matt our waiter. He was amazing! He was "we have a cheat sheet menus if you wish?" Always love going to this place when we're on the coast. Their burgers are really good and always very tasty. The owner/manager was the only one in the front but he did a great job waiting tables, cleaning tables and taking and delivering orders. This a good little burger bar in downtown Long Beach. There are several types of burgers to choose from or you can build your own. If you choose one of theirs, you can not make any adjustments to the ingredients. What you see is what you get. But, you have the option to build your own if you want to add something or remove something from one of their specials on the menu. The ambiance is a small diner type feel, there are some retro decorations that are fun to talk about with your kids. The service was pretty good. Waitress was helpful with explaining the build your own vs ordering a special to my kids. She got our drinks out quickly and was friendly. Good didn't take long at all. My wife Michele and I had talked about going here a few times and never went, until today. We had dinner here tonight. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It is not a huge place but comfortable. When you walk in you smell the burgers cooking. The burgers are a smash burger style. We did the build your own. Delicious. Finally tried Camphouse. We were greeted and sat right away. Our waitress (Nickole) took our drink order and it arrived right away. Our burgers were cooked just right and still juicy. I recently visited and was surprised by their strict no-modification policy on house burgers. All I wanted was to remove onions--nothing extra, just no onions--and they refused. The owner claims this policy exists for efficiency and consistency, yet: - They allow customers to add ingredients but not remove them, which contradicts the efficiency argument. - They allow modifications for allergies, proving they can make changes when they choose to. - Their concern about "every burger being customized" is exaggerated--not every customer would request changes, just like at any other restaurant. - Food waste still happens, since customers have to pick off ingredients they don't want instead of them simply being left off in the kitchen. After a back-and-forth discussion with the owner, it became clear that this is not about efficiency--it's just an inflexible rule they refuse to change. I was even told that their staff should be "retrained" if they express disagreement, despite the fact that customers complain about this policy regularly. I am not changing or removing this review. I've rewritten it only to make it easier for future customers to follow, as the previous responses made it difficult to read. If you care about customer service and a restaurant that listens to feedback, this may not be the place for you. That said, I want to be clear that the waitresses were awesome--they were friendly, helpful, and did a great job. My issue is not with them but with a policy that puts them in a frustrating position.
