    Seafood Platter
    Bill F.

We tried Coterie for the first time this past week and it's now one of my favorite MS Gulf Coast restaurants. The food was really great and a notch above so many other places around. We were scraping the plates clean because everything was so good. This is located right on the beach across from the harbor in Long Beach, in an elevated building that has been a few other restaurants over the years. About 3/4 of it is inside seating with a smaller porch/balcony outdoor part that is also air conditioned when they close all the doors. For starters, we got a dozen grilled oysters that had this excellent garlic butter sauce and cheese added. They were average size as you can expect but much better than what we've gotten from Half Shell the past few times we went. We also got the fried alligator bites which were more tender than any gator I've ever had before, and came with an excellent dipping sauce. I ordered the seafood platter for my meal and couldn't finish it. On top of a large bed of french fries were a bunch of shrimp, oysters, hush puppies, and one large catfish filet that was cooked perfectly. My wife ordered the Taste of Acadiana which came with three different cajun staples including gumbo and jambalaya. I sampled some of hers and really liked them all. We went on a Friday night and it wasn't all that busy, but our service was good and they kept our drinks filled. I can't wait to go back!

Great place to eat. We had brunch on a recent Saturday. Service & food were excellent. Portions are generous.

I can't say enough about this amazing gem of a restaurant! We had multiple appetizers and we loved every single one of them. The Garlic Butter Shrimp Roll was amazing, the blackened gator was so tender and flavored so well. We had the Crab Augratin with the flakiest buttery toast I've ever experienced in my life. AND the 2+2+2 Oysters = 6 delightfully divine oysters and this gal doesn't even like oysters! 10/10 we will be back!

I don't know how I haven't done a review for this place yet since I've visited here at least ten times. First of all: probably the best spot on the Coast for oysters. Great flavor and amazing prices, especially during happy hour. They have a great drink selection and a lot of fun appetizers, many of which are offered at a happy hour deal. Their brunch is great. And their dinner is fantastic. I visited again this past Sunday. I had a nice glass of rose and my partner had an old fashioned that he loved. We tried the blackened gator as an app and it was so good. The dipping sauce for it was fantastic! For my entree I went with the blackened red fish that comes with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. The sprouts aren't great. They're overcooked. But everything else is perfect! And Jerrica is an awesome server; if you get the chance to, sit in her section! The space is large and accommodates groups of all sizes and they also have a covered patio if you want to really enjoy the views of the Gulf Coast while dining.

We went here for lunch on a December Friday afternoon. The place was unexpectedly busy (in my estimation), but to their credit, everyone... all the servers and even the manager... chipped in to help out! So, we never really had any long waits. That, really, was very impressive by itself. The food, though, was even better! We started with the seafood egg rolls, and for non-standard-Chinese-takeout egg rolls, these might have been the best I've had! So incredibly crunchy, but not greasy! They were perfection! The filling was rave-worthy as well! My entrée, given that it was lunchtime, was from the Combo menu: roast beef po'boy with a side of gumbo. The beef was so savory and well seasoned, and it perfectly hit the spot for what I was looking for! The gumbo was also very well made, and I'd definitely order it again as a side... maybe even a full bowl! The drink was a bourbon milk punch. I don't remember if this was a seasonal special, but it fit that December vibe perfectly. The view from the restaurant was wonderful! You could see over Beach Blvd to the Gulf beyond. Despite the simple yet modern design inside, it had a definitive "beach vibe" about the place. Clean buy cozy. I've really got no qualms to share. Everything was spot on, from the service (despite the busy crush!) to the food to the view. Just a perfect little spot for some great food and drinks!

Took my mom here for brunch which is served from 9-1 pm. Absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the champagne infused drinks and eggs benedict! Mom had ham traditional benedict and I had crab cake benedict! Absolutely DELISH!

Easy to find in Hwy 90 in Long Beach overlooking the beach. Plenty of parking. We arrived for Happy Hour and bar seating was available. Oyster special was out go to during Happy Hour but the rest of the menu looked good too and we tried somev of this too. Everything was fresh and tasty. We'll be back...

I thought Coterie was going to be much more than it was, but this turned out to be a great thing! The atmosphere, friendliness of the staff, and the restaurant itself gives off an upscale type of vibe but the check didn't match. If you're looking for an affordable date night, Coterie is the place! I started off with the oyster shooter and it was a great start! Despite 3 other large parties already seated my surf and turf poboy came out rather quick and was absolutely delicious. Selina, the bartender, was very friendly and upbeat with a great attitude and sense of humor. I absolutely recommend Coterie for any type of event!

We ordered blackened mahi mahi, side salads, Yum Yum bread, and a seafood special which was blackened trout served over pasta with a shrimp seafood cream sauce. Everything was excellent!! The blackening on the fish was so delicious, the Yum Yum bread was so light and fluffy and crusty and fresh. I also ordered a Marina margarita which had pineapple and lime juices. The margarita was delightful although I didn't taste or feel much alcohol. I would still order it again because it was so tasty and refreshing. Great service, could not have been happier. This time we sat out on the back balcony overlooking the harbor and got to watch the sunset and people out fishing and throwing cast nets. The view was great, but the chairs were flimsy and uncomfortable. For starters, we got the smoked tuna dip which comes with a generous portion of dip and a bunch of tortilla chips. We loved the dip itself but the chips were too brittle to scoop up the dip though a spoon was included. I had the blackened shrimp, which comes with this sweetened sauce that really sets off the flavor. They are not spicy, so don't let the blackened part scare you. Also included was a bit of somewhat dry pasta which goes well to lap up all the flavors left on the plate, and a small side salad. My wife had the redfish which came with a very large filet and more of the same basic pasta side. Steve's Marina is consistently good and the harbor view is always welcome, plus the service was quick and friendly, but I will say that they are overpriced for what you get. My wife and I shared an appetizer, had two entrees, and tea to drink - no alcohol or dessert. The bill total, after a normal tip, was over $100. I feel like you can get more for your money elsewhere because this just isn't a hundred dollar meal kind of place.

Also order a half pound of the boiled shrimp. Shrimp came out first and the best thing that I can say is that they were eatable. Not for sure if they were freezer burnt prior to cooking, but being a life long coast guy, I have eaten freezer burnt shrimp at home cookouts and it was the same. Don't get me wrong, they were not horrible, but they should have been better. Now to the flounder. The presentation was nice and the taste of the fish was really good. The down side was the lemon cream topping that was added. My biggest complaint was that it was too sweet and thick. It would have been great over a cornbread or something like that, but in my opinion, it ruined the flounder. On a brighter note, the service is incredible. Not only was the food service great, but our waitress went above and beyond to strike up conversation while we waited on our food, despite the place being packed. 10/10 for the service; 3/10 on food served.
