I wasn't sure what to expect before Lela and I started working together. My understanding of a…read morecoach came from my past experiences playing sports. I approached the experience of working with Lela without expectations and with an open mind. Wow, was I impressed. I never realized how genuinely impactful someone could be as a coach. Lela shifted my life path. I was 19 when I began working with her and would 100% recommend any other teen or young adult to work with her. Especially young people who are open to hearing new ideas, and accepting guidance. She can write like a magician. This fact was most helpful when I was in a situation in which I needed to write a professional biography. I had weekly sessions with her to collaborate, edit what I had to write, and understand where the most appropriate places might be to share my work. Together, we actually realized that I didn't just want to write a professional bio, I wanted to share a much bigger story about my past. Just two years ago, when I was 17, I was in a near fatal car accident. I broke multiple bones and I had a TBI (traumatic brain injury). I had to relearn how to walk, talk, read, and write. When I started working with Lela, I had healed and was in my first year of university in Madrid. I wanted to work on a professional bio to use for business venture ideas while I completed my studies. Then we dug deeper into my story. Lela helped me see that I wanted to share all that I had learned from this experience in a more impactful way. So, we took that bio and slowly transformed it into a Ted Talk. I'm now in conversation with a TEDx leader, with plans to share this talk on stage later this year. I cannot believe how synchronistic all of this is, going from a short bio to a profound Ted Talk. Working with Lela enabled me to write my story, and reflect on how my accident changed me. It helped me heal and grow. Then to be able to bring this story to a larger audience, it all feels like I'm building toward something powerful. I started working with her in October 2019 and I continue to work with her now, in May 2020, which reveals how highly I value her as a coach. She's been incredibly flexible, working with me digitally and internationally, while I study abroad. She's given me clarity I wasn't even aware I was in need of. I was able to focus on my path with her help, confidently seeing where my ideas could lead me if I committed to them. This was something I had not learned how to do before. There were opportunities in my life that I didn't even know were there until she made me realize they were actually present. I'm really thankful I became aware of these opportunities and got a more focused and concrete idea around my own life while still a teenager. Drinks are at those 'surge prices' however, I clumsily tripped on the stairs and spilled my full $16 beer and staff was kind enough to refill my cup free of charge. The merch line spatially can be organized à bit better. It's a weird line that wraps around from the balcony to the ground stage. It's ripe for line skippers, but it's mostly unintentional because people are truly unaware where the line starts. Thankfully , there are staff that aggressively police the line to ensure total fairness .

Really cheap parking nearby, but you have to download an app, so make sure you have good connection. Lots of extra steps but it was only $2, so not bad! Despite circling around, it was not as easy to get parking like the other down town city concert venues that we've gone to, but no biggie. It was literally right across the street from the venue. We went to go and see the Japanese visual kei band, Jiluka, and people were lined up almost 10 hours before the concert started (vibes for SoCal way different than that of NorCal), so arriving 2 hours before the concert started, unless I shoved myself and moshed to the front, I knew it was cooked, but I got a really good spot on the second floor balcony and the staff was nice enough to point out where to stand to get a great view. Restrooms and the merchandise tables were all on the second floor. The back of the first floor was a bar and in the entrance to the side was also a bar too, I think. Security is way tighter here than all of the other 3 venues I went to to go see concerts during the week, so I'm sure shenanigans have occurred. No canned drinks in certain areas, no chains (definitely warranted this warning since lots of people dressed alt for this show and had to go return things to their cars, etc.), and no re-entry after the concert was over, so we couldn't get the Chiikawa Jiluka freebie that someone was passing out. Boo! The concert stage is bizarrely in the corner, but the sound quality was nice enough. I was definitely able to hear the vocalist better at this venue than I was at the NorCal stop, but the lighting was definitely better at the last event. Even though I didn't risk it in the pit this time, I walked out when people were still there and if I was there during the concert, even with my elevated shoes, it would be much more difficult to view the stage than at the other venues that I've been to. It definitely got super crowded and unlike the other venues, there's also a gap between the crowds and the stage, so security was definitely making sure people weren't crowd surfing onto the stage, but it also meant that when the artist threw something in the crowd, some of them had to jump down, grab it, and try again. My biggest qualm was how HOT it was. Even from the second floor balcony, near a fan, and with it not being super crowded up there, I was sweating. I can't imagine what it's like for the people in the pit. Overall, not awful, but there's better venues out there in SoCal.
