Our family and friends had an absolutely incredible dinner at The Capital Grille tonight, and it was one of those dining experiences we'll be talking about for a long time. Ali was an exceptional server. He paid attention to all the little details that turned a great meal into a memorable one. Without us even asking, he brought extra potatoes and creamed spinach for the table and made everyone feel genuinely cared for. One of our favorite moments was when he noticed the two boys (both 12) tackling the huge bone-in ribeye. He jokingly told them that if they finished it, dessert was on him. They accepted the challenge, cleaned their plates, and Ali happily kept his promise! Not only did he bring the desserts, but he surprised them with an extra dessert, and each dessert plate had "Congratulations!" written in chocolate. Those thoughtful, personal touches are what truly set a restaurant apart. This is exactly how you wow your guests. It's not just about serving outstanding food--it's about creating an experience people will remember. Our party of seven (four adults and three teenagers) spent about $800, and every single dollar felt worth it. The food was phenomenal, but what made the evening unforgettable was the hospitality. Our group of 6 had a fun time celebrating a special occasion at Capital Grille while also enjoying The Generous Pour! The restaurant was very nice. Spacious, sophisticated, and an upscale atmosphere. A special thank you goes to our server, Bruno, who was absolutely amazing. He made us feel so welcome right from the start and attended to our table frequently throughout the evening to make sure we were having a great time. We started with a variety of appetizers, including the calamari and oysters, which were delicious. My Boston Restaurant Week tradition continues on this Friday evening. Friends and I returned with a 7:30PM reservation for a party of 4. The wait after check-in for a table only took 5 minutes. I ordered from the restaurant week's prix fixe menu ($55), opting for the clam chowder, bone-in Kona crusted dry aged NY strip (+$12), and flourless chocolate cake. The cup clam chowder seemed decent enough. The NY strip arrived textbook medium rare per my request - warm red center without grey bands. The accompanying shallot butter did not overpower the steak. The creamed spinach and mashed potatoes, as expected of a classic American steakhouse, deliciously tasted like butter with potato and spinach garnish. I strategically asked for the dessert to-go, expecting to have no more stomach capacity by the end of the meal. In all, another great experience at a solid price. read more

The day finally arrived where I dined at the famous Capital Grille! One of the most renowned steakhouses of the area, it was a place I knew I had to visit. The interior is pretty stunning, with large paintings all over the walls. It felt like a European art museum turned restaurant which was a cool surprise. There are also some neat statues around, with a lot of the decor reminding me of Revolutionary times. The atmosphere is comfortable and classy, and I almost felt like smoking a cigar or something while I was in the booth haha Our server didn't rush us and we had plenty of time to choose from the wine selection. The basket of bread was terrific, all kinds in there which I appreciate. I had a piece that tasted like it had cheesy onion in there, which I haven't had before. I got a cabernet to start. My appetizer was a lovely, refreshing salad, mixed greens with kale, feta cheese, dried cherries, toasted almonds, orzo and walnut mustard vinaigrette. There were wonderful textures to enjoy and it's probably enough for two people. I also had the wonderful German Riesling white wine they had. I had to go all out for the entree, choosing the seared hand-carved tenderloin (two 4 oz. pieces) with two butter poached lobster tails! I haven't had lobster surf 'n turf in many years so it was fun to have again. The dinner was wonderful, with hearty medium rare steaks very juicy and bursting with flavor. The lobster tails were sublime, and well garnished. We also got garlic spinach and mashed potatoes to share which were perfect sides. Because someone sent an appetizer back, we got a really nice dessert of a chocolate cake and some kind of soft tan colored cake with a lovely crust underneath. Ali, our server and Kevin, the manager, made our 51st wedding anniversary dining experience everything we hoped it would be. We were seated at a very private and intimate table. Each course was superbly prepared.Appetizers: My wife enjoyed her shrimp cocktail and I was blown away by the lobster and crab cake I had, full of flavor... with delicious pieces of lobster and crab in every bite (not a hint of any bread filler to bind it). Entrees: We both had the sliced filet, cooked medium rare (done perfectly), tender and flavorful, enhanced with the accompanying flavors of cipollini onions and mushrooms. One of the better steaks I've had in recent memory! Wait staff was friendly and attentive and the food came out pretty quickly. Items we ordered as of 4/2025: - French Onion Soup - $15 - While it's not the best French onion soup we've had it was pretty good. Plenty of cheese and the size was probably one of the largest I've seen so value wise it's pretty good. The soup itself wasn't bad but we felt like the flavor could have been stronger. Would still recommend (especially to share). - Truffle Fries - $13 - Really good fries. Obviously a truffle oil was used but the flavor was good nonetheless! Quantity was also good for the price. Would recommend for truffle and fry lovers. - Roast Beet Salad - $16 - Loved the goat cheese that came with the salad. Quite refreshing though the beets weren't anything special. We would still order this again! - 10oz Fillet Mignon (+Addition of lump crab) - $67 + $24 - Cooked to a perfect medium rare and very tender (as one would expect!). Wife enjoyed the crab a lot and would order it the same way next time. The crab really helped diversify the texture and flavors of the filet. - Bone in Ribeye Steak - $85 - While by no means cheap, it was extraordinarily tender with a great distribution of fat spread throughout. My friends and I had a nice experience here during Dine Out Boston week. While finding parking was a challenge, and the valet was blocked by a tow truck that took ages to tow a car in front of The Capital Grille, that isn't the restaurant's fault. I like the old world charm of this location; somehow it seems more nicely appointed than some of the other stakehouses in town (maybe because I enjoy the art). I had the filet mignon and requested a black peppercorn sauce, which was perfect. The steak had a great sear on it, and the pepper was perfectly accented without being overly complicated. It was really one of the best prepared steaks I've had in recent memory. We shared group portions, per the Dine Out Boston menu, of mashed potatoes (great) and creamed spinach (which I normally don't like, but it worked here). The appetizer field greens salad was more middle of the road--some of the lettuce was rather soggy (the lettuce itself, not due to dressing) or otherwise I would give it a better rating. I finished with the cheesecake, and I'll first issue the disclaimer that I'm not a huge cheesecake person. It was ok for me, but not particularly standout. What was standout was the service from our HILARIOUS server, Nick, who kept us in stitches and also knew the menu front & back. Three cheers for Nick! My boyfriend and I celebrated Valentine's Day with a dinner at The Capital Grille this weekend. There is a public parking lot right next to the restaurant fyi! We had a reservation for 6:15 and were seated quickly after checking in. It was dimly lit and had a lively ambiance like all their locations. Immaculately clean bathrooms, too! I asked about a drink they used to have on the menu and the bar made it for me with no issue, and my boyfriend ordered a strawberry lemonade (they are so good here). For dinner I had a filet mignon and he had the porcini-rubbed bone-in ribeye, both of which were divine. So tender, so juicy, they melt in your mouth. The ribeye is super flavorful. We also shared the mashed potatoes which are always creamy and delicious. Not a single complaint! To finish our meal we had the cheesecake. They added lots of fresh berries and sauce, as well as chocolate covered strawberries (my fav)! It's so rich and yummy. Once we were finished our server brought us a rose, which is such a cute touch. Super friendly service for a birthday dinner on a Sunday night! I got the bone-in filet which was a special for the night. The meat was perfectly cooked. We got the mashed potato and creamed spinach. The creamed spinach was one of the best that I've had. It was the extra flavor in cream that made it exceed expectations. Overall, there was a good balance between cream and spinach. The interior is old school steakhouse, with deep rich wood and oil paintings. Almost everyone was in a polo/button down shirt or dress/blouse. We ended the night with a surprise birthday dessert of a mini chocolate cake and cheesecake on the house. Our server Diego was amazing. Classic steakhouse with some Northeastern touches. My family are Capital Grille people: we go every Boxing Day, love their Dine Out Boston deal, and never miss the generous wine pour event. It's dark and spacious, with booths for small groups and curtained-off tables for big family dinners (perfect for some privacy). It's lively, but you can't make out your neighbor's conversation which I appreciate. I know it's a chain, and yes, its siblings are LongHorn and Olive Garden, but Capital Grille is the classy one in the family, and it's consistently good. For starters, I love the tuna tartare, and if you ask, they'll usually do steak tartare off-menu. The wedge salad and French onion soup are staples. Entree wise I usually order the strip medium rare, but the lamb is honestly underrated and might be my favorite thing here. Seafood entrées aren't really for me and they just make me jealous of everyone else's plates. The lobster mac is our family's go-to side and is always the first side dish cleared, even when we order multiples. Other hits are the creamed spinach, creamed corn, and Brussels sprouts (apparently I just like anything creamed here). Fantastic martinis. I always get at least one Stoli Doli. For dessert, crème brûlée is the way to go. It's not a life-changing meal, but it's consistently very good, and for me it's tied to a lot of family memories. If you buy a bunch of gift cards for gifts they will usually give you steak knives which is a nice bonus! read more

We hosted a large work party here recently and used their private room, which sat about 22 of us quite nicely. We had a few servers who took care of our large party as well and everything as excellent. All food came out great. They helped us curate a menu and wine list that was perfect. First and this is just a taste thing, we had Japanese Wagu - yikes to rich for my stomach, staying western after this , both classical porterhouses etc, This is too creamy . Like I said , that could be someone else's 5 not me and it is like 160.00 each. Potato's different than first visit 2.9-3.0 not sure why these tasted different. Well wine list remains expensive, we had a liter of Cymamus it was 220.00. well with tip we spent 725.00 and that is way to much for 2 . Continuing my steak search in Boston... Well it was race night and it was very busy. Great vibe. Bartenders were on point as you'd expect here. The wedge salad was very good. Thick chunks of perfectly cooked bacon and a wonderful blue cheese dressing. I had gotten the clam chowder as well which was sub par for the CG. My wonderful son treated me and his girlfriend to a fancy night out, and indeed, it was a successful treat! I had the BEST steak here that I've ever had in my life (and I've been on this earth for quite a while). I've also been to a few upscale steakhouses, and the meal here topped them all. First off, the service was amazing; our waiter, Kevin, was very patient, attentive, and accommodating. We were seated in one of the smaller dining areas that was a little dark for my liking, I'm old and need more lighting to read, but the overall, it had the traditional look of a steakhouse. They also had their wine tasting event --The Generous Pour -- going on at the time; and although it's an extra expense, they didn't skimp on the pours and the wine choices were excellent. I typically prefer red wine, but did find a white wine that didn't give me a headache. The manager checked in as well, and offered us free dessert. I'll definitely go back for more! read more

Our favorite spot for dine out Boston, hands down. We always make a point to come here during restaurant week and this visit did not disappoint. The clam chowder was creamy, the filet mignon buttery, the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes perfect, and the cheesecake dessert complete with a Creme brûlée like finish.
