First, I would like to say that the service here is exceptional, they are very attentive and you can tell that they are passionate in what they do. As for the food, the specialty pizza for that day was a lamb pizza and to be honest it was fine. Personally I will try another pizza, but it was still pretty good. Came here for the first time and it was great! I went with 5 others for our friend's birthday brunch. Located right on Newbury with the stunning yellow and white striped umbrellas on the sidewalk, but we were seated inside which worked out perfectly for our group size and the fact that it was super hot out anyways. For my entree I got the fish, but it was very bland, even with all the herbs. For dessert I got the panna cotta which was huge and pretty good. Really nice experience! The service and ambiance were really the stars of the show in our time at Eva. Our waitress could not have been sweeter and treated us better. She was extremely attentive and incredibly friendly and truly made our experience great. The ambiance sitting outside was wonderful as well. The front patio is gorgeous and the perfect spot for lunch. In terms of the food I had the caesar salad and to be honest it wasnt great. It was borderline flavorless despite the copious amounts of parmesan and sardines. I think it would have been much better if the base was a different green besides kale. It was snowing its ass off and it was nearly violently cold. It's was the holidays. I had literally just become engaged. The stars, quite simply, were aligned. For soup. French onion soup. On the garden level of Newbury Street the Scientist and I trundled down icy steps and into Eva for lunch service. It's a cozy downstairs bar set up on the garden level for lunch service. Warm, if not slightly bright, seating along the walls and a few low bar tables. Decent sized bar where the staff was waiting come the 2pm hour. Driven inside by snow and wind, we were part of a late Back Bay lunch rush. It's a trip, so I'm over ordering. She got soup to start. Ok. I'll be her Huckleberry and dance the soup dance. She went chowder. Meh. I went continental. Cheese, bread, beef broth in soup form. Why yes. Yes, please. This shit is depthy as Challenger Deep in the Pacific Ocean. Your taste buds think they're at the bottom, then BAM!, the salt reveals the cognac, and now the onions have a pungent sweet that wasn't there a second ago. Do that again, get a piece of bread that's been drowned in said soup, and it that but more. If they offered chairs with seatbelts, I would recommend sitting in one of them. The salad she got as a main was gargantuan. Lots of very fresh lettuce, and then- what am I talking about here? She loves salad. I don't. She said it was great. The fra diavolo pizza was exceptional as well. The shrimp were cut down and places on an extra thin and flexible base, with the Calabrian peppers doing the flambé act on my tastebuds. A touch of red sauce and not too much cheese let the feature ingredients highlight the taste. The crust had a solid bite and had some pull. An average texture-wise pie was knocked up by how good the topping presentation was. And usually, a single dish that isn't to the moon pulls you out of five star status consideration. So why not here? Three words: French onion soup. French onion soup, that is, to this moment in my culinary ramblings across most parts east of the Mississippi, the best I've ever had. read more

The seasonings on the tuna sandwich were not well chosen and the bread was sad. The dip trio was delicious we got the baba ganoush, whipped feta, and muhummara. They were pretty small but the flavor was delicious. I had the black pepper agnolotti and the flavor was very mild but you could taste the black pepper, it was filling. The cocktails were creative and delicious. I've been meaning to try out Eva for awhile and finally got an opportunity to go for brunch on a snowy winter morning! This restaurant is so cute, inside and out. They have a surprisingly spacious dining room at the lower level which I wasn't expecting. It's perfect for larger group gatherings (as long as you make a reservation!). I tried their eggs benedict with smoked salmon and a bit of my partner's breakfast pizza. Both dishes were delicious and presented very nicely. I will say that the service was definitely on the slow end, but we were in no rush at all so it wasn't a problem for us. For the appetizers we had the Tuna Tartare, Fried Calamari, Mezze (pita & smoked salmon dip), and New England Clam Chowder. Tuna Tartare: must have and highly recommend. It is very creamy and savory with a little kick from the spicy mayo. 10/10 Fried calamari: The Tartar sauce was great with the calamari. It was lightly fried and did not feel heavy at all. The calamari was not very seasoned like other restaurants but their tartar sauce compensates for it. 8/10 Mezzo (pita & smoked salmon dip): if you want a light snack I would recommend this as your appetizer but overall nothing special. It is pita with a cold salmon cream mixture. 7/10 New England Clam Chowder: not the best clam chowder in New England but is creamy and savory with plenty of clam. 8/10 For the Main entree we had the braised short rib gnocchi. This is what the restaurant is known for and why we chose to go here. The dish was worth every penny. The sauce it was in was very creamy and addicting. The short rib itself was overwhelming with flavor. Eating the short rib alone was too rich but when you combine the sauce with the short ribbon it transforms into a rich savory balance of flavor. last min dinner decision while in boston, they were able to slip us in on a Saturday night. Nice indoor and outdoor vibe on newbury street with lots is seating. Our server was nice and patient. We had originally ordered the olives but ended up switching it for the goat cheese dip because the olives weren't pitted which we found weird but our server made it seem like it was completely normal lol? but we absolutely loved the goat cheese dip, so yay for the mix up? Oysters were really good here, unfortunately didn't give any hot sauce and by the time i was able to ask for some, they brought our entrees so our table was overflowing. The pizza with different cheeses and apple was soo good and i also got the mussels which were decent and a great portion size for the price. My family and I ate at Eva during the Boston Marathon, as we were looking for a convenient location for our son to warm up and recover after running the marathon while we waited for our second son to finish. One of the best melts. Absolutely drooling. The bacon, cooked perfectly, so flavorful and crispy. The egg, oh my goodness, cooked to a perfect medium-- runny and hard yolk at the same time. How this was mastered... a great unknown that only the best at Eva will know. And on the side, a perfect, freshly cut mixed green salad. My friend's sourdough grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup was absolutely incredible as well. I want to start coming here once a week. We ordered from the midday menu provided on our table, including tomato soup, caesar salad, spinach dip, and clam chowder. The food, though delayed, was good. The service, however, was not up to par. Eva is located in the very center of Newbury Street in Boston. We were drawn to dine here because of the shaded outdoor patio, that gave us a good view of the very busy street in Boston. We also got the Spinach and Artichoke Dip and the Mixed Mediterranean Salad. The dip arrived first. It was a bit spicy with the paprika flakes on top. It was very tasty, and the pita bread was fresh. The salad was very similar to a Greek salad, it was huge, with plenty of fresh ricotta. The pizzas were much larger than I expected. The Four Cheese pizza was my favorite. It is a thin crust pizza, with the most delicious cheeses layered, including some very thin apple slices. This was a masterpiece of a pizza, super flavorful and delicious! The Eva Supreme was a pepperoni pizza with some additional toppings. This was ok, if your favorite is a pepperoni pizza, then you will like this. We had a wonderful time at Eva's.
