Important to say, I haven't been to the UK yet and am not an expert on Fish and chips, however best Fish in Chips I've had in a very very long time. Up there with some of the best I've ever had! Incredibly juicy fish, perfect tempura batter, and an incredible tartar sauce. It's amazing that in a 15 minute car ride, the batter was still incredibly crispy which is hard for a lot of restaurants to do. Fries or "chips" were seasoned well and for not liking coleslaw, best I've ever had and was delicious. I don't normally write reviews, the fact I'm writing one immediately after I've tasted everything speaks volumes. The $25 lobster roll is a simple but meaty and buttery delight! I can't say enough good things about this simple sandwich. Plus it comes with a side of coleslaw that I ended up adding to the sandwich, which leveled it up even more! But on the flip side, I also got their crabcake appetizer, which is a bit pricey for one crabcake at $14 and it's definitely one of the worst crabcakes I've ever had. I've had crabcakes in the Kroger's freezer section that tasted better. But hey, you can't win them all so I'd still give this place a try cause the lobster roll makes up for it. Lobster roll is made using butter, not mayo. Yay! The lobster is very tasty, chunk lobster. The portion fills the bun, but the bun is on the smallish side. The coleslaw is a small portion of coarse chop and not-creamy variety - my favorite. The bun is a significant miss. It is nothing special. Service is good - order and pay at the register. The dining room is clean and not over-stuffed with tables and chairs. Parking is ample. This store used to be a butcher shop and there are a lot of unused refrigerated cases. Will I return? Perhaps. For SE Michigan, I am glad that I have the option. But if this business was located in the New England area, it would not thrive. read more

Best lobster roll around! My wife was raving about how fresh the meat was, big & chunky. My fish was delightful crisp with a panko style batter. Home made tartar sauce completed things well. The restaurant reminded me of a fish market up North, with a few tables added for eating. The owner prepared our meal and was pleased that we knew the Grateful Dead reference in the restaurant name. Everything was delicious. The only reason I didn't give a five star is because they allowed a very large dog into the restaurant and sitting with their owner inside the restaurant eating. I'm glad I found the Lost Sailor. The lobster roll was excellent with the bread exceeding expectations. Both soups were great and so was the service. The ambiance is simple and sparse but it definitely feels like they are still making this new space their own. There are some minor things they could do to improve the perceived value of the food relative to pricing, but again - it's still pretty new and I am excited to see how it develops. 12/18/2025, 5pm our neighbor treated us to dinner. Our first time here and the place was really clean, bright and inviting with ample seating. We all knew this place recently opened and we wish them the best of luck and many, many years of success. This particular evening only the Helmsman at the wheel so it was a bit of a wait to take our order. David was kind and friendly and we could tell he really puts his heart into his business. I opted for fish & chips and my two mates chose the lobster roll with coleslaw and a bag of chips. We all enjoyed our dinner and the portions were copious, hot and flavorful. My 3 pieces of cod were simply the best! Around 5:50pm another team member arrived to takeover the front counter. We left around 6:30pm and the tables were filling up with more people arriving. I do recommend you stop in and give these folks a try, just be kind, patient and happy for any new business as they navigate thru the opening up process. Can't believe the ratings. Went for the lobster grilled cheese on Texas toast, as seen in their menu. No Texas Toast, it came on a hamburger bun. No tomato soup, for dipping. The expensive Clam Chowder was served ice cold. The lesson here is, always be skeptical of a place that wants you to pay first, BEFORE you get your food. This is a hidden treat on Orchard Lake Road in Sylvan Lake across from Ellen's and The Dollar Store. Only in biz for 6 months and definitely worth a stop. The best lobster rolls I've ever had ( and that includes Massachusetts and Florida)! Fish and chips also excellent. I bought the steaks to grill at home and they were melt in your mouth filet mignons. I can't wait to try everything on their menu. If you want a delicious dinner at a reasonable price, this is the place to go. I would suggest carry out as the restaurant itself is small and informal - more of a casual lunch spot for dining in. Wanted to try this place out after reading some great reviews. It was a little hike from Sterling Heights but decided that since it was still nice out, it would be a nice drive. There was one couple ahead of us ordering. After we put in our order, we saw that the four tables were full, so we chose to sit at the long bar along the front of the store. We had placed our order at 6:30. Not sure what took so long, but it was over 50 minutes before we received our food. Like my son indicated, though, it was well worth the wait. Our clam chowder was amazing, I loved the toasted bread that comes with it. My lobster roll with a side of cole slaw and chips was outstanding, on par with what I have eaten in Maine, but different in that it had butter and not sauce. My son had the cod and chips and declared that he has never had better. I have to agree, as others have indicated, that the prices are pretty steep relative to the amount of food that you get. I don't agree with one reviewer's statement that real dishes should be used for in-house dining, the vibe of this place doesn't really call for that. It would be nice, however, to have better napkins, or, at least, the ability to have another since the lobster roll gets messy. So, if you want some delicious seafood, this is the place to go. So I asked a coworker to have lunch on our day off and I said pick a place. She insisted on lost sailor knowing I love seafood. Never been but always game for good seafood. It's a quirky little set up but quickly reminded me of the dive places I loved so much while living in Florida. The place with the real food that tourists don't go. Bingo! Here I was! Basically whatever is in the fish case to be sold raw can be cooked as well. Very cool. You can request how you'd like it cooked or just let the chef have at it. I recommend you let the chef drive the boat. He's fn amazing!!! I had the shrimp basket. And a single sautéed soft shell crab. Holy hell! The shrimp were huge! It came with fries, coleslaw, and cocktail sauce. The shrimp were meaty and sweet with a crispy lite panko breading. I wasn't hot on the fries. Think they could do better. Sauce had a nice kick. The soft shell crab??? Wow!!!! Lightly sautéed. Perfectly cooked. All the tasty juices intact with a slight crisp on the outside. Not easy to achieve. Most places over cook them. It came with a very pleasant Cajun/french remoulade sauce. Mayo mustardy capery just damn good sassy sauce. Yum. Loved it. They had fresh razor clams in the fish case. What a rare treat. As well as some nice looking salmon. I didn't ask for it but chef Jonathon whipped up some sautéed razor clams in garlic olive oil and capers on toast points. Blew me away. Razor clams are hard to get right. These were super tender and sweet. Made me so happy. My friend ordered the wahoo. My god it was good! Lite Cajun spice. Cooked perfectly. This place was just great. The owner David and the chef Jonathon are the sweetest guys ever. Genuine. Foodies and lovers of people that love great food. Hazels in Birmingham can piss off.
