Coconut curry flavour
Zi C.

We came here to try the coconut curry flavour sauce. It was so creamy and blends well with the mussels. We love how the food came fairly quickly and the server was attentive. The fried rice was great carb to absorb all the flavours at the end. The restaurant is clean and neat. It has a large seating area.

I love captains boil and I have to say they are very consistent at every locations I've been to! This location is no different the captain's boil sauce was top tier! We got almost every seafood option on the menu and it was delicious. Seating had options inside and outside, I love a booth so we sat inside. Drink selection was not too vast but the food makes up for it. I strongly suggest getting the rice and corn as your sides because they absorb the sauce sooo well! Also get the Cajun fries cause they are a favorite and made crispy every time. The best experience is going as a group, it's always a fun time and a great atmosphere. PSA: captains boil can get very messy and the bags tend to leak so be careful

Visited for the first tinge on father's day just after 4 there was no line up but as we ate the place got busy. The staff was always checking up on us yet our food took three times as long to come I watched two tables who came after me and a large group get their food before my table of three even got a cup of water. Once the food came it was extremely hot temperature wise and the captain boil flavour was just the right amount of spice. We ordered mussels crab legs shrimp lobster and Cajun rice. The Cajun rice is a popular choice highly recommend.

Came in on a friday night after finding out they opened just this week. Space is super clean and huge. I've been to other captains boil before and always felt rushed and crowded but this one was comfortable and relaxing. They have a huge sink for people to clean their hands throughout their meals if you wish to choose so (it does get very very messy!!) As you are seated you are given this cute little plastic apron and some plastic gloves. The table also supplies a large roll of papertowel and a bucket for your shells. Menu is very straightforward.. they have an entire side for seafood and then another side for other dishes like chicken wings, cajan fries, okra, rice dishes and etc. Prices were also quite fair as well. We opted to do the lobster and shrimp in a bag as well as the chicken wing/fries and cajan seafood fried rice. For two people it was too much food!!! The shrimp was cooked in their captain boil sauce and the hottest heat they have. It has a really spicy kick to it... and i love spicy food but i was crying for water constantly!! The shrimp was cooked perfectly.. not overly chewy and had easy to peel shell. The lobster we opted for the milder spice and that was quite tasty too. The lobster is sold at seasonal price and for this one we got it was 38.99. They did however overcooked the lobster slightly as it was more rubbery than i liked. Chicken wings and fries basket were also great in portion size for 11.99. Fries were a tade spicy and we had a total of about 6 wings in the basket as well. The fried rice comes in a big plate and can easily be shared amongst 4 people. Service was also top notch. Everyone was super friendly and making sure everything was going ok. I am so glad captains boil came into our area!!! Coming from the east end originally... were happy to slowly see more and more yummy asian eats!!!

Not much of a fan of seafood but, I definitely wouldn't mind having Captains boil when I am craving it! The concept of the overall restaurant is nice in a way that, it's unique from other restaurants from the messy eating! We ordered a few dishes (as pictured) but one of my favourite dishes is the chicken teriyaki lunch platter - which gives you a mix of chicken & seafood (with their captain boil's sauce); which is also a good deal! Not going to lie, their captain boil's sauce is one of my favourite sauces ever!! Tip: ask for extra sauce before the meal comes out tho !!! The cheesy mussels and corn were also full of flavour !! Maybe one day, when I'm REALLLLYY craving seafood I will finally order the bag of seafood, lol! Also check us out on Instagram @cindysfood !

I love seafood and let me tell you, this place is a real life treasure chest filled with precious foods and brilliant flavors for your palate. I had a pound of hot spicy shrimp, snow legs, steamed okras, shrimp fried rice (huge portion), raw oysters , and a tall glass of Alexander Keith's beer. Who said that Atlantis isn't a real place? Well I felt like King Trident after my feast and the kingly service received from the hard working yet friendly staff. The interior design and decor is very warm and inviting, the lighting is just right. Great experience here and don't forget to put on your bib and gloves if you don't want to get messy.

D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S!!!! I know a good seafood boil so coming here I was slightly skeptical but man oh man were we satifisfied. Highly recommend getting it family style and sharing. You pick your seafood first, then your flavor, then your spice level, and you can add sides to go inside. So we did all of the above. We got a pound of crab legs with the Cajun flavor (the most popular and usually my go to at any seafood boil restaurant), a pound of shrimp with the garlic butter (it was aiight but not a life changer flavor- it was what I expected it to be though lol) and a pound of shrimp in the Cajun flavor we added corn and sausage to it. So good!the shrimp come with heads on so it's a little work to get them open but it is fresh seafood ! Be prepared to make a mess! They give you a bib and gloves to help manage the mess haha but it's all part of the fun! We also got a side of seafood fried rice and Cajun french fries which were great. Loved loved loved the fries and puting some sauce in the rice made the rice really good...without it it was slightly dry to me but still good. The prices are not cheap but not expensive either- I feel you get what you pay for ...always check on the market prices of some of the seafood so you know what you are getting into lol. A nice family spot and the music was good too! Sometimes that can make it break it for me! But the music was fun and upbeat ! The environment is a little loud because it is smaller and can get crowded but the food was so good I didn't care ha. If I'm in Toronto again I'll definitely be coming back!

Hand for comparison. TINY!

I've been to so many Captain's boil locations that by now I can point out which ones have the boil best sauce. This one did not live up to my standards. Service was mediocre and unattentive. As for food, I ordered the usual: shrimp, crab legs, corn, potatoes, and rice. The quantity of shrimp was small the quantity of crab legs was even smaller, the corn was OMG tiny! for $1.25 a piece and the potatoes were...potatoes. Oh, and the rice was pretty hard and dry. If you're craving Captain's Boil you're better off going to their original location (ie. Yonge and Finch)

Sizzling plate before 4pm! Best deal. So filling and super yummy

There are different locations throughout the GTA, serving the exact same menu and concept. Service is fast and efficient. You order on your phone by scanning the QR code on the table. Food comes out within ~5 minutes - very fast! The menu is quite extensive. They have a wide variety of teppanyaki rice sets available, as well as noodles, mini hot pot (including individual servings), and various drinks and Asian desserts. I love that you can customize each dish by adding the add-ons (additional ingredients). You can even "build your own teppanyaki set" by choosing the carbs, sauce, protein(s), and add-ons (including vegetables). We only tried the teppanyaki rice sets this time around. The Sizzling Japanese-Style Assorted Vegetables consisted of cabbage, green pepper, zucchini, mushrooms, and corn. This was listed under "snacks" category, and we thought it would be a good veggie dish accompaniment to the other main dishes. I found it to be very salty and saucy. It had an aftertaste that I didn't really like. The pieces of green pepper, zucchini, and mushrooms were very small, that you could barely taste them. It was mostly white cabbage shreds and corn. The 3 teppanyaki rice sets (including one deluxe set) were good. The Jumbo Unagi Teppanyaki Rice was one of my favourites - the unagi there was "jumbo" indeed (biggest and longest I had ever seen that was served with a rice set in a restaurant). I liked that it wasn't doused with too much unagi sauce wich tends to be sweet and sticky. There was a good amount of meat in the unagi as well. Salmon & Shrimps Teppanyaki Rice Set and Seafood Rice Set (salmon, scallops, shrimps) were also decent. The Seafood Rice Set (considered a deluxe menu item) had a bigger and better salmon compared to the thin salmon slices in the Salmon & Shrimps Teppanyaki Rice Set. The shrimps and scallops were pretty good (there were more shrimps than scallops). All dishes came with corn and green onion, and you can choose to add extra add-ons such as cabbage, green pepper, zucchini, mushrooms, garlic bits, extra protein, etc. As garlic lovers, we added extra garlic bits to every teppanyaki set that we ordered. Overall, good food and fast service. I wish the Sizzling Japanese-Style Assorted Vegetables dish wasn't so salty, and came with more / bigger pieces of the actual vegetables rather than just mostly corn. But the other teppanyaki rice sets were good value.

Mai Bistro has a small patio out front that's covered and indoor seating as well. We opted to sit on the patio. Since it was our first time at the restaurant the waitress explained the various menus to us. There was a written menu for Today's Specials and some of them were crossed out. I'm guessing that those items have already sold out. I saw a photo of the menu from a couple of years ago and in comparing with the menu from the other day I can see that prices have increased for some dishes. To me, prices veer on the higher side. The grilled lemongrass pork with rice and asian slaw was $22 and the shrimp ceviche with fresh salsa and avocado on a crispy tortilla was $11. My Vietnamese style pork tacos were a good deal for $10. Even at the regular price of $14 the price isn't too different from tacos at other restaurants. The pork was flavourful and portions are like what I found from food trucks in LA (but leave you wanting more).

They do the "traditional" dishes with a twist / fusion. For example, the black cod is usually feel heavy with the miso based sauce, but they added some acidity to the sauce and they made the black cod taste rich and light (not to mention the black cod was perfectly cooked); traditionally the Brussels Sprouts would be finished by tossing balsamic vinegar over it. Sometimes that would still feel heavy. Instead, they tossed it with strawberry vinaigrette. So the acidity is very light and not too sweet. We finished our meal with the Yokai Signature Maki. Yes, they SHOULD be proud of this Maki enough to put their name on it. They hit it on the nail with the taste profile. I have a zero tolerance with spiciness, so they put the spicy mayo on the side, and I encouraged my wife to dip the Maki with it. She confirmed my suspicion that the spicy mayo took the maki to another level. We definitely will come to try other dishes. Edit: they comped us a slice of Matcha Cheesecake. While it is still not my cup of tea, but I was very impressed with how good it taste. My "dislike" is with cheesecakes because they feel heavy. Though it is still on the heavy side for me, but as soon as I spoon in a bit of the strawberry sauce, it just lightened up the whole thing. They have successfully amazed me with how well they play with taste.

She assured us not to worry as the owners are very kind and it was a place you could dress up but accept casual wear as well. So off we went. Pulling in we saw it was a restaurant attached to the Orchid Hotel. And old but beautiful looking home converted to a hotel/restaurant. Once inside I saw white linen table cloths with nice stem ware and crisp white napkins and silverware. I looked at my sister and said I think we are underdressed lol. It was a Thursday around 5 pm, no reservation but it wasn't super busy yet so we were immediately seated. The host was kind, and put two tables together for our party of 5. The menu was simple which I liked. We ordered appetizers to start, the spring rolls and the crab cakes. I apologize for not taking pictures, I was tired and forgot so I'll just say they were delicious. Sidenote: I don't like seafood but one taste of the crab cake and I could have eaten both cakes myself! So very good! For the main course I ordered the Thai chicken coconut curry which had a side of rice. My hubby ordered the salmon with rice and vegetables. From the first bite we both let out yummy noises. We each took a bite of each other's food and I can say the salmon was absolutely delicious as was my curry dish. The portion sizes were great. We were both so full. My brother in law got the lamb-it looked like it was cooked perfectly and he said it was delicious. My sister got the fish and chips-it came with a couple different sauces but all she wanted was tartar sauce and ketchup. She didn't ask if they had any because she didn't want to offend the chef lol.
