Captain boil platter
Jenny L.

I had the captain boils platter which is $99 and includes crab leg, corn, shrimp, potato, mussels and clams. We've order it in the signature captain boil sauce and mild spice level. The seafood came in a platter rather than baggies. We also added noodles with the captain boil sauce too. The noodles came in a bag. We ordered two! And it was $6.99 each. The seafood didn't particularly stand out to me, my favourite would be the crab legs. The noodles were okay but a bit over priced for what it was. Overall it was a good experience to check out. Eating with gloves is fun! The portion is a bit small for 4 people however.

As you see I had great intentions to take pictures but once the food came, my friend and I devoured it! We were greeted at the door in a timely manner. I am happy we came just in time as we got a booth. We ordered chicken wings and a pitcher of sangria to start the sangria was the book and the wings were hot and juice. The mix and match we got was rice, sausage, shrimp and mussels. There could have been more sauce and it was a bit salty. I wanted to try the churros but was stuffed. Will go back again though.

I went with a friend early this year, for the first time. It wasn't what I expected. I liked the prawns but the deep fried seafoods didn't taste fresh. I did love the place/decor, and our server was friendly. I'll go there again just to try a different thing on the menu.

I came on a weekday during lunch hour. It was my first experience and i truly enjoyed it with my husband. It was funnt because he was shocked the food came in a bag and you wear a bib and gloves. There is also a bin to put your garbage in. It was funny seeing bis expression. but we had a great time.. he chose the garlic flavour and it was alright..I let him try my Cajun 1lb mix chicken and shrimp and we have to agree my flavour was best. The prices are listed on a board on the wall. we had mixed half lvbs chicken and half lb shrimps. It was good for $18 that day. The service was good it was quiet when we went and honestly portions are good. we ate at 12 and were still full at 5pm. The corn is delicious I wish you got more pieces. also i had the potatoe which was nice and jucy also the rice is fluffy and white. For a fun experience I reccoment this place. try somethig new with friends. my husband and i had peel the shrimp challenge. aahaha He got better at peeling them so maybe he will help me.out in the kitchen at home more aahahaha

A couple of months ago i went to a captains boil for the first time, the food and the experience was outstanding and i had to go back. I came back to the captains boil but this time a different location. The food really is out of this world, all of the flavours are right on and give the customer the option to choose from so many different things. The customer can choose the type of meat they want between crab, muscles clams etc, the flavour if they want more of a plain flavour like a lemon or a mix of everything called captains boil lastly you can also choose the spice that you want on your meat. The food all comes in plastic backs and you east with you hands. All of the seafood was cooked very well and we loved our captains boil snow crab and our garlic muscles. The only thing that was a slight disappointment to this location was the service. The waitress was very nice don't get me wrong but wasn't really sure what was going on. She had to come over and show us the receipt to make sure she had everything we ordered and had to come back later asking us what we were missing... We only ordered 3 things. The food is really oily which makes it hard to be the only thing you eat in a night, as it goes right through your body. Overall the captains boil is a great restaurant for a night out. The food is great and so is the atmosphere of the restaurant. The restaurant is not very busy on weekdays which is good as the food is able to come out really quick.

This is my second Captain's Boil location visit and fourth seafood-boil type restaurant since discovering them in Toronto. It was just amazing! The Captain's seasoning, which is a combination of all of the options, is addictive. If you're so inclined you might even want to order some garlic bread and sop up some of the deliciousness! For us it's shrimps, clams, snow crabs, and lobster. In the future we'll give the king crab a try too. The lobster bisque was very good but in the presence of the intense flavor of the seafood almost tastes bland by comparison, though on its own I doubt that would be the case. A bit pricey but worth it for the occasional treat!

Fish Teriyaki Sizzling Plate $10.95

YUMMY!! Captain's Boil has multiple locations across the GTA - this restaurant in particular is just across from Vaughan Mills. It was the perfect place for us to relax & unwind after doing some major shopping therapy! The lunch menu wasn't very big so it didn't take us long to make up our minds - we decided to go with two fish teriyaki sizzling plates (one with lemon zest mixed with black pepper and the other with roasted garlic with melted butter; both non-spicy). Our server offered us these cute bibs so they could prevent sauce from getting on our shirts. They also have these washing stations in the middle of the restaurant so you can easily wash your hands during your meal without going to far from your table. Pretty thoughtful I thought! Our food came and boy were we surprised! They came with crawfish, shrimps, clams, mussels and and fried fish as well as rice drizzled with the sauce of our choices. Not bad at all for $10.95!! I liked the lemon & black pepper the most - the lemon bought out the freshness of the seafood and the pepper added a slight kick to balance everything out nicely. Service was excellent! Our server checked in a few times with us during the meal to make sure we had everything we needed and liked our food. I will come back to try out other items on the menu!

Kajun Chicken & Seafood - Cross-section of my fish tender

We got the spicy fried chicken but it didn't taste spicy at all though. I neither got my sweet and sour sauce, nor a biscuit. I have eyed dropping by this Kajun Chicken and Seafood eatery for a while. I'm normally in this plaza for Montreal-style bagels at St. Urbain Bagel Bakery. I changed things up by heading to Kajun for lunch. I rarely have any issue finding a parking spot. I backed into one steps away from the entrance and walked in. Staff were talking to one another when I walked in. I was the lone customer. I realized why staff were huddled around. The young woman who took my order was new. She had support around here. Nice! They were friendly. I wanted fish tenders. I asked what the difference was between a combo and a super combo. The new staffer said that the combo gives you a side and a super combo gives you two sides. I ordered the three fish tenders combo. I wanted macaroni salad as my side. The woman staffer said that I wanted fries. The man had heard me say macaroni salad. This interaction alone already made me think that my order was going to be screwed up. I was right. I was asked twice by the woman who wasn't a great listener what sauce I wanted. I said sweet and sour. She let me know that it would take a bit of time to deep-fry the fish tenders. Fair. I asked for a cup for my drink. I got it and hit the fountain machine. I was disappointed that this place does not offer any sugar-free options. Instead, I went with a Barq's vanilla cream soda with some ice. It was cold and bubbly. It was so good. Before I left, I got a refill. It took maybe ten minutes to get my order. I was happy when the new staffer called me. I thanked her and left. The fish tenders were excellent. Each was was flaky and delicious. The light coating around each one was crispy. I ate them without my sweet and sour sauce. Staff forgot to give me some. I read the combo deal online. It's supposed to come with a biscuit. I never got one. The macaroni salad was yummy. The macaroni was al dente. It was flavourful. Maybe I'll order through a mobile app next time and see if my order is accurate. I don't fault the young woman who was learning everything. It's a combination of being trained by more senior staff who have a few issues to resolve. The woman staffer who was supporting the new one should have been better at listening to my answers to her questions and holding a higher service standard. Perhaps having these adjustments in place would ensure that my order was complete. I was the only customer there. My order shouldn't have been as messed up as it was. (430)

This time we ordered choice of 2 from the lobster festival menu with mashed potato topped with lobster (added $7.99) The lobster was cooked right this time, but significantly smaller than ever. The dinning hall is still the same decoration for so many years, but it has its special classic feels. Past by this Ontario location so many times and it brought back memories of my Honolulu life. Decided to come on a Sunday approx 1200, at first I thought the place was closed due to an empty parking lot and no activity at the front entrance. but I guess it was early as other diners started to show up after we were seated but still not busy compared to other places I've gone to on a Sunday afternoon. Hyosung was our server, she took the time to explain the menu and the specials, very nice and efficient, checked on us a few times while we were devouring the seafood. I've waited over 25 years for their Cheddar Bay biscuits and they did not disappoint. Flakey moist crusty cheddary (not enough adjectives) goodness, just like I remembered. We ordered a bowl (not a cup) of clam chowder. A nice delicate creamy soup base with potatoes and nice tender flavorful clam chunks. We went with the Mariner's boil (check out menu), more than enough seafood for two. We went with the garlic butter sauce instead of the Cajun seasoning. Glad we did, if you like garlic and butter, you've just taken the express elevator to heaven without needing to confess your sins. What a huge improvement from what I remembered 25 years ago. Seafood didn't have that frozen salty mushy texture, it was fresh and firm. Please wear the plastic gloves they give you as the garlic butter was dripping down my forearms to my elbows. Kudos to Red Lobster corporate and local management, Red Lobster has risen from the bankruptcy ashes like a legendary Phoenix. I hope previous diners give them a another chance as the improvements made should be recognized.

Bourbon Street Grill - Combo #1 - Bourbon chicken with red bean rice and green beans

Bourbon Street Grill

2.0(2 reviews)

My rating is 3.5 stars…read more I have probably frequented this Bourbon Street Grill than any other location in the GTA. This one is located at Hillcrest Mall, in the food court. I have a thing for Bourbon Street Grill. I love green beans and corn. I am not sure how I ended up being addicted to eating these two vegetables, but I can quickly get my fix when I'm here. I typically get combo #1, which consists of a meat, a vegetable, and a starch. When I am super hungry, I will go with combo #2, which allows me to have two vegetables. Naturally, I go with my two loves. So, what happens when I go with combo #1? Which vegetable to I choose? I alternate between the two veggies, if you must know. =) My meat choice tends to be the bourbon chicken. I have tried the blackened chicken. It's fine, but the bourbon chicken is my favourite. It is yummy and does not contain a ton of fat. As for the starch, it depends on my mood. Frankly, I am the type who could skip it outright. However, since it comes with my combo, I switch between the fried rice, red bean rice, and noodles that look like chow mein. Folks here are happy to serve and seem to enjoy being there. The food hits the spot. I am a regular and visit once a month on average. (18)

However, while I was taking out my wallet to pay at the counter, an older woman--who seemed like she might be the owner or manager, and appeared to be a Filipino woman with a noticeably large head--intervened. She told the employee to serve the food, then personally took out some of the chicken and beef from my container. I found this behavior very uncomfortable and inappropriate. When I got home and checked the portion, there were only about 6-7 pieces of each meat, and overall the portion size was noticeably small. It did not match what I saw being served initially. I felt very displeased and disappointed by this experience, especially the way the food was reduced right in front of me. Because of this, I will not be returning. I recommend that others carefully check their portions before leaving the store to avoid a similar experience.
