I've done a few escape rooms in the past and this one is top notch. We did the cellar room and had so much fun. It was a bit stressful getting started because half our party wasn't on time and we almost had to enter without them. Luckily, the owner was cool and really pushed the limit on our time. Luckily them made it in the nic of time. We went for a bachelor party with a group of eight guys who mostly didn't know each other and half of whom had never done an escape. To be honest, a couple of us may have been a little drunk when we arrived. Needless to say, we didn't escape on time... haha. Definitely arrive early. The entrance is across from Shamrocks on the side street. You walk down a set of stairs to get to the desk. First you fill out waivers etc... and then the game master gets things started. I love the scary aspects of the room and you can tell they put a lot of thought into the clues and building the room. I would definitely reccomend them based on what I've seen so far. read more

They only clean the rooms after every other game. They didn't make anyone wear masks and would not refund us after the people we were locked in a room with for an hour would not wear a mask. They compared it to a broadways show and said they were non refundable.... anyways. Room sucked too. I've done four escape games in the past two months and this one was the worst. Room didn't flow. We scheduled this escape room during our down time in Gatlinburg. We try to do one every time we are on vacation, but this experience ended up being negative for us. First, the reason this gets at most 2 stars is because of the atmosphere. They did a really good job of setting up the scene and immersing you into the experience. Having multiple rooms to work your way through was an added bonus as well. Haze was used, though it became at times too much where it was difficult to even see and operate in the low-lighted room. It would also be helpful to have TVs in all the rooms so you would not have to waste time going back to the first room to receive updates. Second, the theme of cannibalism is extremely dark. We were not disturbed by it, but this is not a room I would do with anyone under high school aged. Third, the biggest reason for the low rating was the lack of preparation for the game. While being provided with 2 black light flashlights, only one of them was functional the entire time, which made it extremely difficult. We were given a white board and marker to write down helpful information only to find out our marker did not work. We pointed this fact out numerous times, and our game master never responded with assistance. Finally, we were told we would not have to climb on anything in order to find clues. In reality, we had to spend some of our time retrieving a clue from a malfunctioned drop box, which was 9 feet off the floor. This lack of attention to detail really took away from the experience and left our group more frustrated with how the game was setup than challenged by the scenario. When you consider the over $39 per person price tag for this experience. Your money is easily spent better elsewhere along downtown Gatlinburg. read more

DO NOT do this escape game! If I could give zero stars, I would! This was a birthday present from my brother because were both HUGE escape room fans. This room has a darker storyline and we thought it would be more intense, plus it has two chapters or two sessions you can do. So, we had high hopes! We were way wrong. We escaped with 35 minutes left and used no clues. The proctor gave us clues every couple minutes, literally told us answers and what to do. I will say, we didn't need them. We figured out clues and found keys out of order and had a stack of clues we never even needed. The game was way too easy, way to expensive for the experience we got, and left the group upset and not happy. I heard (don't know for fact) that the escape game down the street was way better and that the one on the island is so much better. Not suitable for children- the lighting, smoke, air pressure hoses, etc. may frighten young kids. Probably suitable for 8-10 year olds and older. I would go the other direction and save your time and money!!!! read more

Woohoo! Free T-shirt and Water! Ok, that comes later. Sorry, had to get that out first. I feel...conflicted about this escape room. This marks the third one I have ever done. I have done 1 each now in Nashville, Jacksonville and now this one. I always go for creepy. Always. And this room definitely did not disappoint. I went with my mother (who has also done escape rooms with me before) and we both agreed that this one was definitely the best in terms of atmosphere and layout. This also marks the first room where I was actually, dare I say, scared. Just a bit. I mean there were children around, I had to play it cool. We did the cellar and left with (I kid you not) about 2 seconds remaining, if that. I think they felt sorry for us maybe. This is also the first escape room I have done where you not only get 3 call-ins, which is pretty standard, but also hints. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll leave it at that. But this is where I feel conflicted. I felt that we received almost too many hints! There were definitely parts of the game where we both felt that you really couldn't proceed unless you had one of these hints. We probably would've done Scarlet's Room had we more time and/or money, but it is apparently one of the hardest escape rooms in the region! Anyway, if you are new to the whole escape room thing or even if you are not, definitely give this one a try. They have a $2 off promo in the many coupon books you get in the area which brings it down to $28. Possibly leave your boyfriend in the cellar who knows. Good date night :) read more

Absolutely awesome experience! My mom and dad, brother and his wife, along with my wife and myself did The Cellar escape game and loved it! We went early and spoke to one of the staff and he gave us extremely helpful advice and due to it being the first escape game for most of our group, he recommended us doing the Cellar. He also gave us a code to use to knock a few bucks off, which was awesome! When we arrived for our game time, we signed the waiver and went to our game. The whole experience was top notch. The precious game I did elsewhere was basically a room you were locked in with a series of non-related puzzlers to solve. At The Captured, there was a true story line that got you involved and the multi-room escape experience was awesome! Highly recommended to anyone thinking about doing one in the area! We escaped with about 3 and a half minutes left and enjoyed the whole thing! read more

What. The. Actual. Cuss word. We've been doing escape rooms all week and this is BY FAR the worst. Seriously cool concept ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE employees. When you ask for a clue THREE times, you expect to get a clue. Then SEVEN minutes till the game is over you decide to notice oh hey maybe I should do my EFFING JOB. Seriously do not waste your money. When you spend that much money, you should expect exceptional customer service. Like I said. We've been doing them ALL week and have never even came close to this horrible time. At this point we've played A LOT of escape games, and this one stands as our current favorite. Great storyline, great puzzles, great personality - and most of all - the ambiance. The owners poured effort, time, and money into making the overall experience work - and they killed it. Antique furniture, creepy props, audio cues, scare moments, a misty dungeon atmosphere, large-scale puzzles - all made this the best overall escape room experience yet. PLENTY of room for everyone to play/work. Definitely not your average props. We went in with another family - which we usually don't like - but this time it was great. I think everyone left feeling that they were a valuable participant, and everyone was thoroughly entertained. The owners are apparently escape game aficionados... and it certainly showed. The Captured was by far the best escape game we've yet been to. Can't wait for part two this summer... read more

We went with our family and friends last weekend and it was awesome! Please note this is unlike any other escape room I've done, in that I was scared and screamed multiple times. That part was not really my favorite, however the game itself was really good! The challenges and the clues for "The Cellar" were difficult but still fun and solvable. I am an escape room fanatic. I have done over a dozen around the country. This was by far the BEST one we've ever done! We dis one this afternoon at 1:00 and it was so good we immediately signed up for another one later that evening! It was high tech with trap doors and moving furniture, very fun! It also had a little bit of a creepy fear factor which added another element of intrigue! we escaped the second room and they give you a free T shirt and a bottle of water!!! Our group loved this place! The hosts were friendly, informative, excited, and in general just incredible. We attempted "The Cellar" and it was challenging, but very well put together and made us feel like we were in a real situation and trying to escape. It is made in a way that you can only get out if you work as a complete team and share information and ideas rapidly. This is certainly worth an hour of your time when in Gatlinburg. FABULOUS!!! Don't miss this one AND Headcase! We LOVED both and had so much fun!!! We had gone a on a Ghost Tour who told us about a creepy Craft family story! They are kind with the clues and the very challenging "SCARLETT", related to the Ghost Story, was well done, full of surprises, creepy, atmosphere and she "was" nuts and ...overall just incredible! My wife and I decided to play the game while we were spending a weekend in Gatlinburg. We live about an hour from their so we have been several times to Gatlinburg and visited most of the attractions including the aquarium and other places. This is by far, the best attraction in Gatlinburg and even into Pigeon Forge. You can tell that there was a lot of work and thought put into this escape game. It was a brilliant storyline matched with very real scenarios. Luckily, we escaped with 5 minutes. I encourage everyone to visit The Captured. I know you will not be disappointed. read more

Maybe the best, I've played many escape rooms both in the Pigeon Forge and St. Louis area. The Captured is different than the rest in a good way. A must do while in Gatlinburg. It wont disappoint, a great, fun experience. read more
