So, I went to the Carpet Mill Outlet yesterday to look at area rugs for a room we are repurposing yesterday. I saw a few rugs I liked and texted pics to hubby and we went today to pick our favorite. David, the guy I have been working with both days was helpful. We picked the rug we liked and a younger guy had it all wrapped, loaded it at their rear entrance and we brought it home after running errands. Come to find out they sent us home with the WRONG rug. I was horrified. Didn't match our color scheme at all. Hubby is chuckling and asked what I was gonna do. I immediately called David and explained what happened. He was more surprised than me! He immediately drove it to our home and we exchanged rugs. He apologized, shook my hand and was on his way. That kind of humility is so important to me and one I embrace in my personal and professional life. We all mess up. Own it. Make it right and move on. Our actions are more important than words! While we were there for an area rug, they offer so much more with fabrics, etc. Prices are decent with good customer service. read more

I just now walked into this carpet store. Two men were sitting at desks. Neither one even looked up at me. I said, "Hi" one of the men said, "hi" got up and walked in the opposite direction towards the back of the building. I went in to the area where the carpets were. Mind you, I had a sample of a rug in my hand from Mohawk. I looked around, compared some rugs to my sample. Neither one of these men bothered to help me or even look at me. I just slowly walked out. I am looking to carpet a 1600 sq ft home with 2 flights of stairs. So much for a little old lady trying to buy carpet. A TOTAL WASTE OF MY TIME. The price was very fair, and I appreciate the lack of any pressure to buy something more expensive when I decided on a very economical mill end. Two weeks before moving into our home, we decided to check around for new carpet. Although our existing orange-and-brown 1974 shag was attractive in a retro kind of way, it was time for an update. OK, way past time. The problem? We had two weeks to purchase and schedule the installation...and we had already (mostly) blown our mini-remodeling budget. We checked prices at Home Depot and another carpet store, and figured we were stuck with shag for awhile. Ugh. After a quick search, I discovered The Carpet Mill Outlet and remembered, hey, this was the place that sold the PDX carpet! We drove there fully expecting to get priced out yet again, but then we found a carpet sample we liked that was actually in our budget. Plus, our sales person, Dave, said we could even get it installed before our move-in date. Granted, I was skeptical. Best Buy had promised "early installation" too and failed miserably -- so I was fully expecting for things to go wrong. But, nope, the installers arrived right on time and pulled out the old carpet... ...and then, a snowstorm hit. Everything had to stop. And our move date (two days before Christmas) was a week away. I. Was. Freaked. I wondered if the carpet installers could come back out, if we'd have to push the move again, if we'd be able to get out of our rental before the end of the month -- you can imagine. She is incredibly attentive and best of all, she follows up on everything. Natalie knows the carpets and fibers and was helpful in choosing a stunning wool (at a GREAT price). She called to tell me the order was placed, checked the physical measurements of the remnant I purchased, and called the day before the installation - just very very good customer service. The installers? Couldn't be better. Angebel and Filipp were polite, introduced themselves, gave me their business cards - everything we wish people we let into our homes would do. They had a nice selection, the staff are polite and knowledgeable (we worked with Dean), and the prices are very reasonable-- even compared with online options. My husband and I have very different opinions on decorating so Dean allowed me to "borrow" two rugs to try in our space at home for 24 hours (with a simple credit card authorization). When the original carpet we wanted turned out to not be available on the very tight timing we needed, Dave proactively looked for similar options to share back with us to save us time. We purchased carpet for our basement a little over a year ago and the whole experience was really unfortunate. We rented a storage unit to store our furniture, and when they came to do the installation they hadn't ordered enough carpet so we had to pay for the storage for an additional month. Even worse was the damage done to every stair leading down to the basement--deep scratches into our cedar walls--and debris left behind from the installers. To the Carpet Mill's credit, they did refund us the cost of repairing our walls. But now our carpet is rippling and their labor warranty is only a year. So we will have to pay to have someone else come back to fix the carpet. (And move all of our furniture out yet again.) read more

I have always had nice service previously, but unfortunately on 12/22/2018 it was a different story. I was returning an area rug and exchanging it for another option. The lady was unable to handle the exchange and would only process a full return and then ring up the new amount. This was 299.00 00 running through my checking account while I have not received the money back into my account of over 400.00 from the previous charge as I used my debit. I ended up just returning the item and not buying the other option. Asked to talk with the Manager - she grew upset and rude. You need to use your visa - I wish I did. read more

This is the second time I've ordered carpet cut to size and bound from TCMO. The last time was in 2006 and I had pads attached to the finished pieces. They are still great rugs and in use in another part of the house. I just ordered again and TCMO people were so nice. Lisa helped me. She knew what she was doing, pointed out what to look for, wasn't snooty about my wanting something inexpensive and worked out the measurements so I'd get the most bang for my buck. This place is great. Maybe not the biggest selection. Maybe not the most attractive displays. Maybe not the easiest place to find. But the best value in the area. In the past six months, we've purchased a beautiful, wool (large) area rug for the living room, a custom stair runner and a top-quality New Zealand wool remnant for the master bedroom and closet. All were super-good deals, especially the area rug and remnant. Dean and Dave, the two main guys, seem as knowledgeable as they are helpful. Really, it would be a mistake to bypass CMO if you're in the market for rugs or a runner. BTW, this is also the place to go if you want your house to look like the terminal at PDX. read more

I guesstimated that there would be bargains of .79 sf foot as per the advertisement but nope. Not really. I got quoted 700-900 for my project of 300sf. I would highly recommend this business. We carpeted one room and a set of stairs, and they found remnant carpet pieces for us in colors we liked, so that we could save money. They had a really good selection. Their price was comparable to Home Depot, so I opted to support a local business. The customer service was awesome, friendly, efficient, and responsive.
