I brought my ring in the day that the jewelry repair person was in the store. Was quoted 2 weeks…read morerepair time. I went back after 3 weeks of not hearing a call back to pick up my ring. They had sent it out to headquarter because the person could not repair in store. But no one called to notify me or thought I should know that it would take longer than quoted. I called every week for an update. Was constantly told that someone will call me back. No one EVER called me back. At other jewelry places, I was notified of my jewelry in every step of the process, whether the repair has started or that the item was sent to a repair shop. Almost 2 months later, I was told it was be in the store at a certain date. Called on the evening of that date, they still don't know where my ring is and have no answer on who I need to call to find out where my ring is. This has the the worst and most frustrating experience I've had. I am about to get marry in one week with no ring. This was not a cheap ring either. It's not something I can easily replace. Beware of the lies you tell you after you purchase the ring. I was also initially told that insurance would cover my gem replacement. I had to pay for my gem out of pocket when I took it in to repair.

I can't really compare them to something like Pandora because I'm just beginning to look at getting a charm bracelet at some point. This weekend we were looking at their diamonds. Diamond rings and loose diamonds. The lady we spoke with (Gloria) was VERY helpful and actually educated us on diamonds. She took the time to show us the differences in the diamond quality and allowed us to look into the diamonds to understand what causes internal discolorations. So far, I have always left very impressed and will consider buy from them every time I'm looking for a new piece.

My fiancé and I went in here to try to get my engagement ring resized. We were greeted and the…read moresalespeople were polite. They took my ring to take a look at it. We were told that if they tried to resize it, they could not guarantee that the welds would not break because the band was thin. We asked what might cause the ring to break and were told that maybe lifting something heavy or hitting it against something. We asked what they defined as "something heavy." They said they didn't know. We kept asking about it because we wanted to make sure that my ring was not going to be destroyed during everyday use. I take it off for work anyway since I work in a profession where there would be a high chance of it getting hit and I lift heavy things all the time. They finally told us, "Well, it might break if you lift a heavy suitcase." We spent another few minutes getting an answer on what exactly "heavy suitcase" meant. We never got an answer. By that point we were very discouraged and the sales people were providing absolutely no confidence in their skill or knowledge. We did not want to pay them almost $150 for something that was going to break just lifting something around the house. I feel like that is unreasonable for an engagement ring. We asked them for an approximate cost of resetting the stones in a similar band of the correct size. They gave us no answer and told us, "Well, I don't know, but it would be cheaper to just resize it." While it may be cheaper, they had just told us it would probably break. We asked for the approximate price on something, not what the cheapest option was. We felt like they were saying, "You look like you obviously don't have the money for a new setting so we will push to to the cheap option." It was a little insulting. WWe decided to get another opinion from a different jeweler. We took it to Kay Jewelers who immediately told us that they did not want to even try to resize the ring because there were cracks in the stones and they were afraid that the heat would break them. It took them about a minute to discover that, so I am confident that Designs Unlimited had to have seen it. Kay even let us see what they were talking about in a microscope. Designs Unlimited never mentioned anything about this to us. I have a feeling that had we let them, they would have tried to resize the ring and broken the gems. Nothing about our visit gave me any confidence in their abilities. Ultimately, we will be sending it back to the original jeweler to get the cracked stones fixed anyway, so I will be getting it resized then. However, my fiancé and I were so discouraged by Designs Unlimited and the lack of confidence we had in anything about them that we felt the need to post this.
