I was buying a diamond ring for Valentine's Day and I got it for at least a thousand dollars less than I would have paid at the mall, and I feel I got a better deal on it than I have ever gotten at a pawn shop before. I don't pawn much but have had occasion to do so about six months ago when times were tight. I must say that compared to other places I have been they made a more than reasonable offer to pawn my items. I have pawned at other shops and some can be rediculous. But if you go to a pawn shop expecting to get what the item is worth retail like most inexperienced pawn customers do, then let me just say, you are an idiot. First of all, retail prices are very high compared to the value of most items, especially jewelry. Not to mention that these places make their money reselling items. They have to buy at a price that leaves room for markup. And this may not apply to jewelry, but some items that have been in pawn for a good while may not get sold for a year...so those items depreciate quite a bit before they even get a chance to sell them. So when you go in there expecting to get the retail value for a laptop that won't be sold for at least three months and possibly much longer, the only thing to be said is that you are an idiot. If you want top dollar that your used item is worth, then put it on eBay or at least Facebook yard sale and sell it yourself! If you need to borrow some quick cash temporarily and get the best PAWN value for your item, then go to Dan's. And just my advice...don't listen to these other morons making reviews that are miffed because they didn't get offered full retail value for an Amethyst pendant in Sterling Silver that FYI probably didn't cost more than $40 bucks brand new. Wake up call Sterling Silver scraps for less than 40 cents a gram and the necklace this moron was referring to probably didn't weigh more than 3 grams with the amethyst included which also fyi are just about the most common gemstone in the entire world and are categorized as semi-precious...and you can buy bags of them for almost nothing from China. A little knowledge goes a long way people. And don't run your mouth insulting someone over something when you have absolutely no clue whatsoever about what you speak.
