I got a Magnaflow muffler installed on my Tacoma TRD 16 years ago and it's still going strong. I remember going in and asking for a Flowmaster because it's the only muffler brand I had ever heard of. They recommended Magnaflow and I am very satisfied with their choice. They even welded a chrome tip on there. It looks awesome. If I had you guys do something challenging Id have put a full 5 stars. As is I am very grateful that I got helped out today! I woke up to go to work this morning, got in my truck, turned the ignition, and the truck sounded like the exhaust had fallen off. Looked underneath the truck and there was a broken saws all blade and my cat was gone. Yep, it was stolen. If only I could get my hands on the guys who did it. I had my truck towed to the Cat House and the guys helped me out right away. Job was done very quickly and the guys were very friendly. If I didnt own my own welder Id come here a lot more. For anyone who is not set up to weld their own exhausts I recommend these guys. Great shop. read more

Another satisfied customer. Very straightforward task: replace catalytic converter in older Nissan Sentra. Job was handled in about 30 mins (I was first in line for the day). Walked down to the "Very Good Coffee place" (Weavers) down the street. Ordered 1 latte & returned. By the time I got back, car was done. Price charged was exactly what was quoted over the phone. In fact, prices were quoted off price sheet on the wall. I like that. Nice clean shop as mentioned by other reviewer. Ferrari owners & demanding types should avoid this place. It's in the yucky Canal area anyway. Stay with the higher priced shops where the staff-abuse factor is built into the higher price. I've been to the Cat House few times, all of them have been fairly mediocre experiences. When I've gotten actual work done, it has been good quality welding & work, but the customer experience has always been lackluster. From walking in on one of the guys smoking weed in the back office (during the middle of hours), to asking for quotes and then getting ignored. We're younger people and feel a bit taken advantage of. The last experience (as mentioned above) was what really threw us off. We went over to get a quote on a muffler job and he told us he'd get a quote real quick, and went into the office. After emerging 10 minutes later, he went over to a car on the lift and started welding on it. All while we were inside the shop watching & waiting. After that we just decided to leave. Another experience involved them cutting an OEM exhaust in half after removing it without asking. Another was when they gave us a quote $150 higher than the other local place (which can't really be complained about, quote is a quote). read more

I drove up just before noon on a Friday, thinking that I would be lucky to walk away with an appointment for the following week. Within just a few minutes my car was up on the lift so they could confirm the diagnosis, and a few minutes after that they were working on my car. I drove away happy that my car was running smoothly again and very pleased that it cost about 1/3 (perhaps even less) of what the Volvo dealer would have charged. They were referred to me by a mechanic. I was shopping for a catalytic converter and they were the best priced and I couldn't be more satisfied with the service. They also mentioned a potential future problem of rust but to bring it to them when it was a problem, with a very reasonable estimate for repair, $75 to replace the pipe. read more

Brought in a 3 bolt flange and a pipe with a v-band flange welded on. I needed the v-band flange chopped and the 3 bolt flange welded on. He wasn't working on anything else and I watched him do it... he took the original flange off with a sawzall and welded the new flange on with a MIG. Big, sloppy weld, lots of spattering and inconsistent bead. Total contrast to the gorgeous TIG welds everywhere else on the piece. All told, the job took him 15 minutes flat. After he finished, he said he would charge $75 and I asked to see an invoice, because it seemed high and I wanted to figure how he was billing me for it. The invoice didn't explain anything, so I asked him if he had a typical hourly rate, and he said $100 an hour. So I asked him how he figured $75 for a fifteen minute job. This is where things really took a turn for the worst. He gets real defensive, gets this incredulous look on his face, and asks me "What?! Do you want me to bill you by the minute?" I didn't answer that because as soon as he said it, he probably realized the answer was yes... Then he says "You pay ME what YOU want to pay!" Well, that's even more ridiculous. The thing is, what I would have found fair would be, say, $50. Round up to a half hour labor, sound good? I think so. I wasn't about to fight the guy over $25 and he was eyeing the SRPD number taped to his desk, so at that point this was more a conversation about whether he would have my business in the future than whether he's overcharging - frankly, if he had been firm but polite I would have been miffed, but the way this went down I left with a sour taste in my mouth. I won't be back here again and I don't recommend it. read more

The two men who work here are friendly and helpful, and their prices are better than other repair shops. I took my pickup truck there to have them check the catalytic converter and they said it looked okay and did not have to be replaced. I will return there when I need some work done. read more

This guy is legit, and I love the he hates car dealerships for reasons that I don't need to go into. He will beat their prices and give you cost on an expensive part that you can only get from the dealer, and make his money honestly through labor cost, just to stick it to them. They were very accommodating in helping me bring my car home, when I couldn't find a ride int he middle of the day. I strongly recommend you stop here after you do your shopping around to see how great the prices and the service will be. Great prices! I will bring future work to this shop. They were at least $75.00 cheaper, for my Toyota, than Johnny Franklin's Muffler. Marin needs more shops like this place. I was about to go across the bay for a reasonable price, but I'm glad I found this place. When it comes to my vehicles, I care about price and workmanship-- that's it; I don't need free donuts and coffee. That last sentence was a bit of advice to the Marin Toyota dealership. read more

Hands down the BEST muffler shop in the Bay Area. Damian and Chris saved my ass today. I use my vehicle for tours and private charters and noticed a smell of exhaust throughout the vehicle. The exhaust another shop had put on for me basically exploded leaking exhaust CO2 into the cabin. With a tour booked that same day and several over the weekend, they had me fixed up with a new muffler and back in the road in 45 minutes. Other shops I called wanted me to wait week or two before they could even take a look. These guys are the real deal and you will not be disappointed. I went to the Cat House (gotta love the name) to have them look at a sound my muffler has been making for months. I had taken it to Midas (twice) and to a Subaru Dealership (my car is a Subaru Outback) and they could never solve the problem. These guys listened to the funky sound my exhaust was making and within two seconds had it diagnosed - it was a loose screw and a heat shield was rattling.
