I wound up with a charcuterie-esque combination of sour dough that included a creamy cheese smear along the inside of the dish, a prosciutto-like ham, and the most unexpectedly delicious bowl of warm, smoky carrots in a romesco. As an Asian customer, I left this establishment believing I was racially profiled. I was singled out, denied service despite presenting valid identification, and never given a legitimate explanation for why my ID was supposedly unacceptable. Since the incident, I have found multiple reviews from other customers of color describing experiences that raised similar concerns about profiling and disparate treatment. The entire experience was humiliating, unprofessional, and unacceptable. There are plenty of businesses in Nashville that can verify IDs without treating customers this way.
