All exercise, fun and total joy every time I come. And good music! I used to dread coming to the gym, let alone dragging myself out of bed to exercise. Now, I look forward to coming to Merge to work out and never miss a chance to come. I can't believe I am saying it, but I really love working out thanks to Alfonso and his whole program. He's not just a great trainer, but he is a wonderful person who brings out the best in every person he works with. He is like a friend who encourages you to do great things because you want to do it, not because he is making you. The classes are reasonably priced, privates are even more reasonable. Working with someone of his caliber, he's a total steal. He's very particular about whom he choses to work with, so I feel very fortunate to be able to work with him. In the past year, Alfonso has helped me lose over 30 lbs and counting, all just diet and exercise... and I have had no trouble keeping it off. Still going... I have been to Equinox, LA Fitness, Zumba, Tracy Anderson and Yoga Works, Various Pilates Studios, I've tried all the programs I could think of to get fit and healthy, I have had endless trainers who promised they could make me thin and fit... Alfonso was the only one who actually kept me coming back to the gym and the only one who actually helped me lose the weight. I am stronger than I have ever been in my life. I am fitter than I have ever been in my life. I am healthier than I have ever felt and I really enjoy working out. Merge workouts are something special, you have to really want to do it to appreciate what Alfonso offers. When I started I could barely do a pushup on my knees.... now I can do at least 30 or more regular pushups no problem. I feel great, looking great, doing great... all thanks to Alfonso and Michelle. I feel like Merge is like an underground secret nobody knows about- it's seriously the best workout, but not for people who just like saying they workout but don't really want to do anything. The weekend that I attended, they were hosting a special event with Ritual and it was fantastic! Upon arrival, I was greeted and checked in. Their team was inviting, which helped to calm my nerves in this new space. When it was time to enter the room, the mats, which were customized with their logo on the top right corner - such a thoughtful touch, were set for us. A closet for equipment (balls, weights, etc) are straight ahead and cubbies for personal items are located on the left wall. Absolutely love and appreciate how visible and well organized each were. The owner and instructor, Sophie, taught a phenomenal class. It was incredibly challenging, but in all of the best ways. I appreciated how their physical space is designed, and allows the instructor to demonstrate how to execute each exercise in various perspectives, and that there are mirrors for attendees to check their progress. Would highly recommend and definitely would love to return! Oh, and plenty of street parking available if you feel confident in parallel parking.

I owe my last fews years back to normalcy to her!…read more I had been having extreme shoulder pain for a couple of years so my orthopedic doctor recommended that I start doing pilates as a means of strengthening. I tried Pilates at another place that offered group classes and I was very vocal about my shoulder so they would help me modify as to not hurt or aggravate anything since they go so fast and have other people to teach at the same time as me. That didn't happen so needless to say after 3 classes I left in tears and a full blown tear in my rotator cuff as my MRI pointed out a week later. I was devastated. After my experience at the other place and a now annoying 2x a week physical therapy regime prescribed to me for for 3 months the LAST thing I was going to do was Pilates again! Well let's call it divine intervention, because 2 weeks later I randomly met Erica through an acquaintance totally unbeknownst to me that she owned a Pilates studio. After some talking and my hesitance she offered me a personal training session to see how I felt...You can imagine how nervous I was but there was something that made me trust her. And WOW. I could not believe the difference between her training approach and the other place. WOW. I signed up right away! Unfortunately my rotator cuff tear had not been getting any better with physical therapy (the Pilate's was helping with my mobility and range of motion a lot though) so I had to have a major surgery. I was able to go back to Erica about 3 months later after I finished my post surgery physical therapy and I can honestly say that Erica and My Pilates Body helped me to get back on the mend and become a normal, shoulder friendly, functioning person again. Now 2 1/2 years after that surgery I am still a devoted patron of My Pilates Body and Erica is still training me! And I'm INJURY FREE! 100 stars if I could give more than 5!

Although I've liked many of the trainers I've worked with, I've never had one as good as Jenny. Her attentiveness and knowledge far exceeds any trainer I've ever worked with. She provides corrections that often seem small but isolate and strengthen whatever is targeted. She understands the body and expertly guides you but will quickly pivot to another exercise if she sees you're form is incorrect so you don't get injured. I highly recommend her private studio to anyone looking to take Pilates.

The next day I was the perfect amount of sore, whereas other studios/instructors I have been painfully sore the next day. First of all, the studio is located on the bottom floor of a private training gym called Fitness Factory. There is a parking lot, but unfortunately those who are going to Jenny Tate can't park in the lot. So, parking was a bit hard to find but I managed to find a metered street spot. Sucks that you have to pay for parking when you come take a class here! Guy was great, very friendly and helpful. He took the time to learn everyone's names and provided modifications for beginners and those with injuries. He wasn't judgmental like a lot of pilates instructors I've had in LA are. I can't wait to come back!
